email – we truly couldn’t accomplish anything
without them.
We are thankful that the representatives from
countries are volunteering to come to school
and teach our kids about their culture...Divali
was a huge success and we are looking forward
to our kids learning about Thanksgiving on the
14th of November... (thanks to the parents who
are coming in then!)
We are thankful that our kids attend a school
where the administration supports our mission
and encourages the growth.
Lastly, thank you to the committee of people
who are working so hard on the Winter Bazaar
– coming up on November 23rd. There is still
plenty to do – please refer back to the email that
was distributed via the class reps (who we are
also thankful for!).
As this winter is coming we are thankful for
candles, fika, and good friends – both new
and old – and hope you find many things to be
thankful for as well.

Hi Everyone!
As this is an international school – we think it is
appropriate to mention a holiday that happens
in America this month...Thanksgiving. Why is it
appropriate, you might be thinking? Well, this
letter is going to discuss all the things as cochairs that we are thankful for.
We are so thankful that our school PTA community
is growing. At our night time meeting on the 13th
of October we had many parents who are unable
to attend the daytime meetings and are eager to
participate in PTA activities. These parents came
from both the National and International side
which is a great new beginning!
We are so thankful that we have such a
phenomenal committee that we work with
continually – behind the scenes, at pick-up, via

THE ISGR FACEBOOK GROUP
A lot of really useful information is posted on the
ISGR facebook page, from things like a reminder
of the what and when the next event will be to a
question posted by a new parent asking where to go
How to join the ISGR Facebook Group :
1. Log into your Facebook account or join facebook.
2. Search for ISGR PTA Group
3. Request to be a member. In the message box
please include your children’s name and grade -
We will of course advertise events using the newsletter
and email, but as we (the PTA) can’t email all parents
in the school directly, facebook is a great way of
communicating something immediately!
Even if you don’t want to use it for anything else you
can join our group.

The ISGR Winter Bazaar is nearly there with lots of fun for all the family!
We would like to thank all those parents that have offered to help at the event,
this is greatly appreciated. This year we raise money for tablets and computers,
which will be used in your childs’ class.
There will be International stalls from more than nine countries and an International
kitchen with food from around the world. A Raffle, Games room, ISGR Wheel of Fortune
combined with a lucky dip, Cake Walk Game, International Passport Game, Craft Room,
Makeover Room, Glögg stall, Human Fruit Machine, Picture game, Silent Auction baskets
to win, amazing gifts and much more. Don’t miss the choir at 12.30! There will also be
the Charity Tree which raises money for the schools chosen charities.

Concert at Gunnebo Slott
Movie ‘Still Life’ at Aftonstjärna Theater
‘Duoklavikord’ concert by Ulrika Davidsson & Joel
Speerstra, October 24th.
We started with a very nice lunch at the Gunnebo
kaffé. After the lunch we walked to the slott to go
and see the ‘Duoklavikord’ in the salon. Oh no…
fully booked. Luckily there was a nice, small room
next to the salon, so we were still able to watch and
listen.
The concert started with a brief introduction about
the ‘duoklavikord’, the artists, Ulrika Davidsson,
Joel Speerstra, and the Göteborgs International
Orgel Academi.
A ‘duoklavikord’ is truly a piano with two sides.
The ambiance and atmosphere were very nice.
Absolutely not to compare with previous outings.
From the moment they started to play ‘duoklavikord’,
it felt as if we traveled back in time, back to the
Middle Age Century.
Very nice and smooth orgel tones. You could tell
both of the artist were very good at their profession.

On the rainy evening of October 7th a few of us went
to Lindholmen to see the movie ‘Still Life’. A beautiful
Movie that make you think. It was an amazing story,
sad and uplifting at the same time. The very nice piano
thought and talked about it. Still Life is about a man
without a family, wife, and friends and still he added
a lot of value to the society. ‘Still Life’ is still playing in
some Göteborg cinema’s, so don’t hesitate to go and
see it!!!

Another great activity is coming up. This time you
get the chance to learn and experience more about
Massage by Lucille Eade Brachet. For this event it’s
really important to sign up, because we can only
have a maximum of 10 participants to join.

Due to huge demand, The Woman in Black, by
Stephen Mallatratt and Susan Hill, is back to haunt
Gothenburg at the Gothenburg English Studio
Theatre (GEST).
Solicitor Arthur Kipps is summoned to attend the
funeral of an old lady, unaware of the tragic secret that
lies behind her death. When he glimpses a wasted
young woman dressed all in black at the funeral,
a creeping sense of unease begins to take hold. A
feeling that is only deepened by the reluctance of the
locals to talk of the woman in black – and her terrible
purpose. Years later, as an old man, he recounts his
experiences to an actor in a desperate attempt to
exorcise the ghosts of the past.

At lunch time we usually get a good deal and so can try out some of the great restaurants in town :
