for learning. Projects have included kindergarten additions and remodeling at 11 schools, security entrance
enclosures and alarm notification at all schools, new chillers and boilers at various schools, accessible toilet
remodeling for students with disabilities, roof and parking lot replacements, locker replacements, lighting
projects using LED technology, and auditorium improvements at both high schools. Valley View is proud to have
first class facilities that support the learning environment throughout the district.
WE CARE ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT
• VVSD’s Comprehensive Energy and Environmental Management Initiative has saved the district hundreds of
thousands of dollars this decade through energy-saving and environmentally conscious programs including a
computer-operated automated HVAC control system for all buildings.
• VVSD’s all-encompassing
recycling program in all of
our buildings includes the
recycling of paper, plastics
and metal with over 30
large recycling container
pick-ups weekly. We have
a unique partnership with
a regional supplier of
Styrofoam that allows us
to recycle 600,000 lunch
trays every year.
• Eight schools have created
their own edible gardens
that are not only used as
environmental classrooms
but also help feed fresh
fruit and vegetables to
hundreds of students
every year.

• The VVSD Maintenance
Department routinely
recycles metal taken
from disposed furniture
and equipment.
The New View: Path to Prosperity
We Care About Our Community and Our Community Cares About Us.
During the 2014-15 School Year our students, staff and families raised more than $100,000 for local, regional,
national and international charitable causes.
On many evenings and most weekends, our facilities are utilized by a variety of community groups, including the
Bolingbrook Park District and Romeoville Recreation Department as well as up to a dozen churches that host worship
services. Annually VVSD opens its doors to the community for more than 28,000 hours.
