9/15 - Harrah’s - Chuck Negron: Chuck Negron Formerly of Three

9/17 - Golden Nugget - BJ Thomas & Gary Puckett: During
the 1960s and 1970s singer B.J. Thomas scored a string of hit songs both with
The Triumphs and as a solo act. In 1966 Thomas and the Triumphs had a hit with
a cover of Hank Williams’ “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry.” Mainstream success
came to Thomas in 1968 with the huge hit “Hooked on a Feeling” as well as “The
Eyes of a New York Woman.” In 1969 Thomas sang “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on
My Head” for the soundtrack of “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” and it
became a No. 1 hit. As the 1970s progressed, Thomas kept the hits coming with
“I Just Can’t Help Believing,” “Everybody’s Out of Town,” “Rock and Roll Lullaby”
and “(Hey Won’t You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song.” In
the late 1960s Gary Puckett was the leader of a Civil War uniform-wearing pop/
rock group called Gary Puckett and the Union Gap. Their first single “Woman
Woman” was released in 1967 and became a top-ten hit. Gary Puckett and the
Union Gap’s biggest hit came in the spring of the following year with “Young
Girl,” which contained lyrics alluding to a relationship with an underage girl. In
1970 Puckett began to record as a solo artist, but did not achieve the same sort
of success he had with the Union Gap.
9/22 - Harrah’s - The Fabulous Thunderbirds: For over 30
years, The Fabulous Thunderbirds have been the quintessential American band.
The group’s distinctive and powerful sound, influenced by a diversity of musical

9/23 - Caesars - “Weird Al” Yankovic: “Weird Al” Yankovic is an
American singer, songwriter, parodist, record producer, satirist, actor, voice actor,
music video director, film producer, and author. He is known for his humorous
songs that make light of popular culture and often parody specific songs by
contemporary musical acts, original songs that are style pastiches of the work
of other acts, and polka medleys of several popular songs, featuring his favored
instrument, the accordion. Since his first-aired comedy song in 1976, he has
sold more than 12 million albums (as of 2007), recorded more than 150 parody
and original songs, and has performed more than 1,000 live shows.[6] His works
have earned him four Grammy Awards and a further 11 nominations, four gold
records, and six platinum records in the United States. Weird Al’s first top ten
Billboard album (Straight Outta Lynwood) and single (“White & Nerdy”) were
both released in 2006, nearly three decades into his career. His latest album,
Mandatory Fun (2014), became his first number-one album during its debut
week. Weird Al’s success comes in part from his effective use of music video to
further parody popular culture, the song’s original artist, and the original music
videos themselves, scene-for-scene in some cases.

of Lee Shapiro, Jimmy Ryan, Larry Gates, Russ Velazquez and Steve Murphy –
either played, sang or did both on some of the most memorable hits of the era,
including “Who Loves You”, “Oh What a Night”, “The Loco-motion”, “Peace Train”,
“MonyMony”, “Joy to the World” and other songs in which they used their talents
to spin wax into gold and platinum. THE HIT MEN connect with audiences on a

Disturbed is an American heavy metal band from Chicago. The band includes
vocalist David Draiman, bassist John Moyer, guitarist Dan Donegan, and
drummer Mike Wengren. Former band members are vocalist Erich Awalt
and bassist Steve Kmak. The band has released six studio albums, five of
which have consecutively debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Disturbed
went into hiatus in October 2011, during which the band’s members focused
on various side projects, and returned in June 2015, releasing their first
album in five years, Immortalized, on August 21.
Chevelle is an American rock band that formed in 1995 in the Chicago
suburb of Grayslake, Illinois. The band was originally composed of brothers:
Pete Loeffler (lead vocals and guitar), Sam Loeffler (drums and percussion)
and Joe Loeffler (bass and backing vocals). When Joe left the band in 2005,
Geno Lenardo subbed-in as the bassist until he was replaced by Pete and
Sam’s brother-in-law, Dean Bernardini. Chevelle has sold over four million
albums in the United States. The band’s first studio album, Point #1, was
released on a small record label called Squint Entertainment. Chevelle’s
second album, Wonder What’s Next (October 8, 2002), was certified
Platinum by the RIAA after a debut at No. 14 on the United States albums
chart, Billboard 200. This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In) (September 21,
2004), the band’s third album debuted at No. 8 and has been certified Gold.
Chevelle has since released a fourth album, Vena Sera (April 3, 2007), a fifth
album, Sci-Fi Crimes, (August 31, 2009), and a sixth album Hats Off to the
Bull (December 6, 2011). Their seventh album, La Gárgola, was released
on April 1, 2014. Their eighth album, The North Corridor, was released on
July 8, 2016. Other releases from Chevelle include two live albums, DVDs
and a compilation of band favorites.
Nothing More is an American rock band formed in 2003 from San Antonio,
Texas, United States. The current members are vocalist/aux drummer Jonny
Hawkins, lead guitarist Mark Vollelunga, bassist Daniel Oliver and their
newest drummer, Ben Anderson. The ensemble has released six studio
albums to date, including their self-titled album released in 2014. The
lead single off their self-titled debut, entitled “This is the Time (Ballast)”
hit number 1 on the Mediabase Active Rock chart and number 2 on the
Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.
10/7-9 - Borgata - Frankie Valli: Frankie Valli is an American
popular singer, known as the frontman of The Four Seasons beginning in
1960. He is known for his unusually powerful falsetto voice. Valli scored 29
Top 40 hits with The Four Seasons, one Top 40 hit under The Four Seasons’
alias ‘The Wonder Who?’, and nine Top 40 hits as a solo artist. As a member
of The Four Seasons, Valli’s number-one hits included “Sherry” (1962), “Big
Girls Don’t Cry” (1962), “Walk Like a Man” (1963), “Rag Doll” (1964) and
“December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)” (1975). Valli’s recording of the song
“Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” reached number two in 1967. “You’re Ready
Now”, a Valli solo recording from 1966, became a surprise hit in the UK as
part of the Northern soul scene and hit number eleven on the British pop
charts in December 1970. As a solo artist, Valli scored number-one hits
with the songs “My Eyes Adored You” (1974) and “Grease” (1978). Valli,

10/15 - Borgata - John Mellencamp: John J Mellencamp is an American
musician, singer-songwriter, painter, and actor. He is known for his catchy,
populist brand of heartland rock, which emphasizes traditional instrumentation.
He rose to superstardom in the 1980s while “honing an almost startlingly plainspoken writing style that, starting in 1982, yielded a string of Top 10 singles,”
including “Hurts So Good,” “Jack & Diane,” “Crumblin’ Down,” “Pink Houses,”
“Lonely Ol’ Night,” “Small Town,” “R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A.,” “Paper in Fire,” and
“Cherry Bomb.” He has amassed 22 Top 40 hits in the United States. In addition,
he holds the record for the most tracks by a solo artist to hit number one on
the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, with seven, and has been nominated
for 13 Grammy Awards, winning one. Mellencamp is also one of the founding
members of Farm Aid, an organization that began in 1985 with a concert in
Champaign, Illinois, to raise awareness about the loss of family farms and to
raise funds to keep farm families on their land. Mellencamp was inducted into
the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 10, 2008.

readers, who enjoys this column, advises us about a note-worthy event. The Single Parents Society Shore Chapter presents
a note-worthy weekly Dance Social each Tuesday at 7:30PM
‘til 10PM at the Social Hall of the Somers Point Fire House Co.

will be served. Live music will be provided. The group has been
meeting in Somers Point for over 30 years. A different musical
entertainer or musical group performs each week.

Students Need Internet At Home
(NAPSA)-As schools increasingly turn to the Internet and new technologies,
more and more, students are asked to perform online research, grades and
assignments are posted on websites, and communication between teachers and parents and students is done through e-mail. Because of this, it’s
increasingly important for families to have access to the Internet at home.
Unfortunately, about 30 percent of Americans, particularly those from lowincome communities, are still not connected to the Internet at home. Research shows the main reasons include a lack of understanding of how the
Internet is relevant and useful to daily life, the cost of a home computer
and the cost of Internet service.
To combat these barriers, there’s Internet Essentials from Comcast, the
nation’s largest and most comprehensive broadband adoption program.
It’s connected more than 350,000 families since 2011, or about 1.4 million
low-income Americans, to the power of the Internet.
The program offers families with at least one child eligible for the National
School Lunch Program in-home Internet for $9.95 a month, the opportunity
to buy a computer for less than $150 and access to free digital literacy
training.
To help even more families get online, Comcast now offers up to six
months of complimentary Internet service for all eligible families that sign
up for Internet Essentials through September 20, 2014.
Also new this year to engage more families, there’s an amnesty program.
As long as the customer meets all other eligibility criteria, Comcast will
offer amnesty for an outstanding bill that’s more than a year old, so the
family can now be eligible to connect to Internet Essentials.
Based on customer surveys, 98 percent of families
said they signed up for Internet Essentials because
their kids need it for school
and 83 percent said their
child’s school expected that
students have online access at home.
Additionally, home Internet
gives kids and their parents
access to useful online educational activities such as Khan Academy, a nonprofit that provides a free
world-class education for anyone, anywhere through www.khanacademy.
org.
