IMAGES: One image sized to a minimum of 8 x 10 inches at 300 dpi. Vertical photo highly recommended. Image should complement your ad, as it will appear on the opposite page. Only JPG, TIFF,
EPS or press-quality PDF files accepted.

MAGAZINE SPECIFICATIONS
Design Guide Texas is printed on a web offset
press using 70# text paper, then finished with a
UV coating and perfect bind.
Maximum ink density for any CMYK image
should be 260%. Jpegs and image files using
indexed color, RGB mode or LZW compression
will not output correctly.
FILE FORMATS
FONTS
High-resolution PDFs are preferred. We also
accept TIFF, EPS or native artwork files from the
Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator or
InDesign CS5). If sending native files, please send
fonts and images as well. Spread ads should be
supplied as a single file and not individual pages.
Optimum type legibility requires all text to be no
smaller than 6 pt. Black text must be 100% black.
Rich black is not recommended. Please include
all fonts used in your layout. Do not stylize
fonts in QuarkXPress as this may cause them to
output incorrectly.
FILE SETUP
DESIGN INTERVENTION
The ad file as well as all elements must have an
effective resolution of at least 300 dpi, placed
into the file at 100% and use a CMYK color space.
All required trapping must be included in the
file. Full-page ads and spread ads must include
bleed but may NOT include crop marks. All live
material should be kept inside a .375" border
(safe zone) and also a 1" safe zone in the gutter
for spread ads. Total area density should not
exceed 300% SWOP standard.
The design of an ad is an integral part of the
style of Design Guide Texas. We reserve the final
approval rights on design and photography
used in all advertisements. Artwork must be
approved by DG before final production begins.
FILE SUBMISSION
Please submit camera-ready files to your media
sales coordinator via email or upload your highresolution PDF to adsource.ahbelo.com.
COLOR
FOR TECHNICAL QUESTIONS
All ads must be CMYK; RGB and PMS colors
are not acceptable. Due to the nature of the
printing process and paper stock, color may vary
somewhat from preferred proofs.
