Managing Partner
David B. Miller is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of EnCap Investments L.P., a leading
provider of private equity capital to the oil and gas industry. From 1988 to 1996, Mr. Miller
served as President of PMC Reserve Acquisition Company, a partnership jointly owned by
EnCap and Pitts Energy Group. Prior to the establishment of EnCap, he served as Co-Chief
Executive Officer of MAZE Exploration Inc., a Denver-based oil and gas company he cofounded in 1981. Mr. Miller began his professional career with Republic Bank, ultimately
serving as Vice President and Manager of the bank’s wholly owned subsidiary, Republic Energy
Finance Corporation. In 2004, Mr. Miller was appointed to the National Petroleum Council,
an advisory body to the Secretary of Energy, and is a member of the Board of Advisors of the
Maguire Energy Institute. He was inducted into the Rocky Mountain Oil and Gas Hall of Fame in 2014 and the Dallas Business
Hall of Fame in 2015.

Hunt Consolidated, Inc.
Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs & International Relations
Ms. Phillips has been a businesswoman for more than three decades in Texas. She owned and
operated one of the premier high–dollar political fundraising companies until 2001 when she
was appointed by President George W. Bush as the United States Permanent Representative
to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) with rank of
Ambassador in Paris, France where she served from 2001 – 2003. Currently, she serves as
Senior Vice President for Corporate Affairs and International Relations for Hunt Consolidated,
Inc. She is also President of Hunt Global Partnerships, Inc., the worldwide corporate
engagement and social responsibility entity for Hunt Oil Company.
Following both the 2001 and 2004 Presidential campaigns, she was appointed by President Bush to serve as Executive Director
and then Chairman of the 54th and 55th Presidential Inaugural Committees.
Mr. Miller is a graduate of Southern Methodist University, having received a Master’s and Bachelor’s Degree in Business
Administration in 1973 and 1972, respectively. He serves on the Board of Trustees at SMU and is Chairman of the Executive
Board of the Edwin L. Cox School of Business. Mr. Miller is a recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Awards from both Southern
Methodist University and the Cox School. He is also president of the David B. Miller Family Foundation, through which he and his
wife, Carolyn, contribute to numerous charitable organizations.
Ms. Phillips graduated from Southern Methodist University. She currently serves on the Board of the George W. Bush Foundation,
as a Trustee for Southern Methodist University, on the Baylor Health Care System Foundation Board, World Affairs Council
DFW Board and the Board of Goodwill Industries. She is also on the advisory board for New Friends New Life and the Junior
League of Dallas. She is a member of the Philosophical Society of Texas and an alumnus of the Texas Lyceum. Ms. Phillips was
named “100 of 100” by the YWCA for its Centennial; Distinguished Alumni for SMU; and Outstanding Alumni nationally for
Kappa Kappa Gamma fraternity. She is actively involved with other organizations that focus on health, education and the improved
lives of women and children around the world.

Worldwide Vice Chair
Karen Hughes serves as Burson-Marsteller’s Worldwide Vice Chair. She is one of the world’s
foremost communication strategists, specializing in strategic messaging and communications,
crisis communications and executive positioning with clients ranging from global corporations
to Fortune 500 CEOs.
Since joining Burson-Marsteller in 2008, she has brought to the business world her unique
expertise honed over more than 30 years of public policy, communications and political
experience, from helping lead winning presidential campaigns to serving at the highest levels of
government.
Previously she served as Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs where she led the U.S. State
Department’s effort to communicate America’s values abroad. Karen also served as Counselor to President George W. Bush from
2001 to 2002. In this role she acted as strategic advisor to the president on policy and communications and managed the White
House Offices of Communications, Media Affairs, Speechwriting and Press Secretary. She is a past Executive Director of the
Republican Party of Texas and a former television news reporter for the NBC affiliate in Dallas-Fort Worth.
Karen is a Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude graduate of Southern Methodist University. Karen is the author of Ten Minutes
from Normal, a memoir of her experiences working with President Bush. Karen was selected to serve as a Resident Fellow at
Harvard University’s Institute of Politics for the Spring 2013 semester.

George W. Bush
The 43rd President of the United States
George W. Bush served as the 43rd President of the United States from 2001 to 2009.
President Bush was born on July 6, 1946 in New Haven, Connecticut, to Barbara and George
H.W. Bush – later the 41st President of the United States. In 1948, the family moved to Texas,
where George W. Bush grew up in Midland and Houston. He received a bachelor’s degree
in history from Yale University in 1968 and a master’s degree in business administration from
Harvard Business School in 1975. He served as a pilot in the Texas Air National Guard
from 1968 to 1974. He settled in Midland, where he started an energy business and married
Laura Welch on November 5, 1977. After working on his father’s successful 1988 Presidential
campaign, George W. Bush joined a group of partners that purchased the Texas Rangers baseball
franchise in 1989.
On November 8, 1994, George W. Bush was elected the 46th Governor of Texas. In 1998, he became the first governor in Texas
history to be elected to consecutive four-year terms. After the Presidency, George and Laura Bush founded the George W. Bush
Presidential Center in Dallas, Texas. The Center is home to the Bush Presidential Museum and Library, which houses George
W. Bush’s presidential papers. The Center is also home to the George W. Bush Institute, a public policy organization that focuses
on economic growth, education reform, global health, and human freedom. The Institute supports the rights of women with its
Women’s Initiative and honors those who have served in the United States armed forces through its Military Service Initiative.
President Bush is the author of a bestselling memoir, Decision Points. He also recently authored a book about his father, President
George H.W. Bush, 41: A Portrait of My Father. He and Laura have twin daughters, Barbara and Jenna, a son-in-law, Henry Hager,
and a granddaughter, Mila Hager. The Bush family also includes two cats, Bob and Bernadette.

President and Chief Operating Officer
John is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Ben E. Keith Company. Ben E. Keith
is a privately held food and beverage distributor currently operating throughout Texas and
the South Central region of the U.S. John began his career in 1990 as a Trainee for the Ben
E. Keith Beverage Division and has held various positions throughout the company. John
has served in his current position since 2013. John received a Bachelor of Arts from Tulane
University in 1989 and a Masters in Business Administration from the University Of Texas
McCombs School Of Business in 2004.
John currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Goodwill Industries of Dallas
Foundation. Other current and past affiliations include Goodwill Industries Board of Directors, Amegy Bank Advisory
Board, Friends of Fair Park, Wholesale Beer Distributors of Texas, Dallas Assembly, SMU Athletic Forum, Young Presidents
Organization, and Highland Park Presbyterian Church. John grew up in Dallas where he lives with his wife, Kristina, and their
three children, Gaston, Henry, and Meredith.
