REAL-LIFE WEDDINGS
REAL-LIFE WEDDINGS
Amy & Darren
This couple’s country wedding was all about being a blank canvas,
which they dotted with pops of fresh, bright colours and personal touches.

Amy and Darren would often go on weekend
trips, so a jaunt to the Great Ocean Road
wasn’t anything unusual – neither was the
early morning start to watch the sunrise from
their balcony. “Darren went inside to get the
video camera so he could film the sunrise,”
remembers Amy. “When he returned, he
unzipped the camera bag and turned around
to me with a beautiful timber ring box. He told
me he loved me, that he always wanted to be
together and then asked if I would marry him.”
This sweet and simple proposal was followed
by champagne, a gourmet feast and even a
visit from a passing pod of dolphins.

CRYSTAL CLEAR
The couple had a civil ceremony on the
grounds of Glen Erin at Lancefield in Victoria’s
Macedon Ranges, and passed around a rose
quartz to their guests as they swapped vows.
That crystal now resides in their living room,
along with the round woven mat they stood
on to say their ‘I do’s. There was also a mini
medical emergency. “We had a groomsman
faint just as we began our vows!” says Amy.
“He was okay, he just needed to sit down.
I’m not sure if he’ll ever live it down though.”
Making an unexpected announcement was
Amy and Darren’s favourite moment of the
day. “We announced to everyone that we were
12-and-a-half weeks pregnant in my speech,”
the bride says. “No-one was expecting it at all,
and it was of course something we had been
dying to tell everyone. We will never forget
the noise in the room in that moment and the
looks on everyone’s faces.”
