Our Mission Statement
Holy Spirit is a community of believers that aspires to be formed
by the values of the Gospel and finds its strength in coming
together to celebrate Eucharist and to be transformed into the
Body of Christ. As a Eucharistic People, we who are being
nourished must share the bread we have with others, wash the
feet of our brothers and sisters and welcome all who come, as
Christ Himself.

Do not miss the Lighthouse
Catholic Media CD stand in the
Gathering Space. Obtain one CD
and you’ll want more. You’ll
appreciate knowing more about
your faith and being able to
defend it, as well as how to have
better marriages and families.
You’ll love the uplifting stories and
testimonies. And you can listen
while driving; you don’t
need to find extra
time. Please know we
want to keep this program going and to do
so, we do need the suggested $3 donation per
CD. Listen as a family,
grow closer to Christ!
Make this the best
Easter season ever! Questions?
Call Denise at 913-492-7318.
We hear a lot about family these days, particularly since it
was announced that Pope Francis would be making his first trip
to the United States to attend the World Meeting of Families
scheduled for September 2015 in Philadelphia. Pope Francis
has often spoken about the importance of family in our quest for
eternal life with God in heaven.
Our Holy Spirit Parish Family is not just the priests, the
nuns, the deacons. It is not just the adults or children; not just
married or single persons; not just male or female. Holy Spirit
Parish Family is all of us taken together, with God as our focal
point. Together we support one another in our quest for eternal
life. Yes, together we comprise the Holy Spirit Parish Family.
As many of you know, when I first came to Holy Spirit, I
brought with me a tradition – that of offering a Mass of Thanksgiving on a date near the anniversary of my priestly ordination. I
invite several of my fellow priests to participate with me. At last
year’s Anniversary Mass (my 10th), the four priests on the altar
represented 158 years of priesthood. It is my hope that we will
surpass that number by quite a few this year.
Again this year, I invite all of our Holy Spirit Parish Family
to join us in this celebration. It will be Tuesday, May 12 at 6:00
pm here in the church. We chose that date (before school was
out) so that children from Holy Spirit School can provide music
for the Mass.
I cannot stress enough that we desire no material gifts or
cards. We ask for something far more precious: the gift of your
time and your prayers for us. We ask that you join us at the exquisite banquet of the Last Supper, where our food will be the
Body and Blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Let us pray together, in thanksgiving, and in supplication
that our quest for eternal life will be fulfilled. May God bless our
family always.

Holy Spirit Parish was blessed with a visit from Archbishop
James P. Keleher, Archbishop Emeritus of Kansas City in
Kansas, on Saturday, April 11. He was the main celebrant at the
4:00 pm Mass and also heard confessions in the time preceding
Mass. It is always an honor to be able to host an Archbishop,
and we thank him for spending those precious hours with us.

More on the Year of Mercy
The Year of Mercy will
begin on December 8,
2015. “Jesus Christ is the
face of the Father’s mercy... We need constantly to contemplate
the mystery of mercy. It is a wellspring of
joy, serenity, and peace. Our salvation
depends on it. Mercy: the word reveals the
very mystery of the Most Holy Trinity. Mercy: the ultimate and supreme
act by which God comes to meet us. Mercy: the fundamental law that
dwells in the heart of every person who looks sincerely into the eyes of
his brothers and sisters on the path of life. Mercy: the bridge that connects God and man, opening our hearts to a hope of being loved forever despite our sinfulness… How much I desire that the year to come
will be steeped in mercy, so that we can go out to every man and
woman, bringing the goodness and tenderness of God! May the balm
of mercy reach everyone, both believers and
those far away, as a sign that the Kingdom of
God is already present in our midst!”

policy for announcements, sign-ups, and sales on weekends. Our
policy is that there be no more that three sign-ups or sales on any
given weekend in the gathering space. It is necessary to schedule the
date at least 3 weeks previous to the desired weekend. Please, do not
show up and ask for tables. The space must be used well and there
should not be an undue amount of solicitation or pressure on

in advance. Announcements need approval and they are limited before
Mass. The proper place for announcements is in the bulletin. Those
should be in the bulletin for several weeks before an event. Bulletin
