Timeless Swedish-made crafts in Diabas.
We are a company that manufactures products in Swedish Diabas. We have created a niche
for us in manufacturing products that you usually do not associate with Diabas eg Roof and Fireplaces.
All manufacturing is done in Glimåkra in northeast Skåne. The proximity to the quarries allows us usually
choice boulders for each project. This means that we always maintain a high quality of the material.
What is diabas?
Black, shiny and legendary. Diabase is a natural resource with a fascinating history that has
characterized much of southern Sweden. There is a black treasure in the area where Skåne, Blekinge and
Småland are met, a treasure whose turbulent and dramatic history can be compared with the gold rush in
Klondike, a treasure for over 100 years has fascinated artists and architects
from different cultures. A treasure which, from it´s fiery origin was turned into the black Diabas.
In Klondike´s mines they where mining Gold, in the Black Mountains we are mining the Diabas –
”Black Gold”
Diabas or Hyperit Diabas that the real name, was formed about 1 billion years ago when the hot lava
pushed up from the earth and cooled. Mining began around 1870, Stone industry grew rapidly and it
slowed down the emigration to America.
Within ”Stenriket” there are over 100 quarries and some of them going on break today.
Diabas contained In
Stenriket has won a worldwide reputation in that it has the worlds highest quality. The
stone is hard. Crude it is dull gray and rough, but grounded and polished it is glossy and deep black.
Diabas surface is stable for at least 300 years! It is therefore ideal to places such as
art, sculptures, monuments, facades, floors, walls, roofs and other areas where durability is important.

Swimming Pool
Prototype for a pool of Diabas. The walls are
made of 150 mm High Gloss Polished solid Diabas
elements. The polishing makes that the pool will
be easy to keep clean. The surface of the top and
bottom of the pool is honed to the risk of
slipping is minimized.
We can basically produce any size or
shape whatsoever. No back-casting is needed. The
elements are cast down while the bottom is
poured.

Bathroom Wall built with sticks in the Diabas.
Diabas is polished and sawn in various
heights and lengths. The wall is constructed
with "wild-joints", i.e. the vertical joints will
not be against each other.
Diabas is almost like a mirror when polished. The
rods are available according to your
wishes regarding the heights and lengths. Also
available in matt polished for those who want
a matte finish.

In the picture above you see
the ceiling is made ​out after the
architect's requirements, we can make the
plates almost exactly to customer
requirements, to keep in mind is that the
Diabas can not be obtained in particular
for large lengths.
Brick
Brick sawn from massive diabase, hand
carved front, this means that each tile
is entirely hand-made. Durability is
guaranteed better than ordinary brick.
Is nicely mixed with other materials,
perhaps a wall, over and above windows
and doors. Very nice whit Oak.
Lay the brick on the wall in the same
way as normal bricks.
