The Programme
Hospital & Healthcare Management is a huge, complex and ever-changing field and a booming
industry. Healthcare services are increasing at the rate of 25% a year and will account for 3.1 million
new jobs, the largest increase of any industry. India needs more than 15000 Hospital and
Healthcare Managers
Apart from doctors, nurses, and the like, there are hundreds of different individuals who form the
backbone of the healthcare industry. These include the Manager / Administrators who work behind
the scenes to ensure the smooth running and quality of an organization.

l The classes for the programme are held on Saturday: 9.45 a.m. – 5.15 p.m.

An Honors Graduate of Delhi University, he is an aluminus of Birla Institute of
Technology and Sciences, Pilani, India and the Indian Institute of Management
Ahmadabad, India. He is also the 2007 Fellow, Centre for Social Innovation, Graduate
School of Business, and Stanford University, USA. He has experience of working in a
wide spectrum of healthcare delivery and services models in the public, for profit and
non-profit healthcare sectors. He is currently serving as a member of the American
College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), Chicago and member of the American Society
for Quality (ASQ). He is also an active member of the International Hospitals
Federation, France and Christian Medical Association of India. He has undertaken
teaching assignments as visiting faculty at the Birla Institute of Technology & Sciences
Pilani, India.
Dr. Joseph Xavier S.J. completed his Masters in Social Work from Tata Institute of Social
Science, Mumbai, specializing in Medical and psychiatric social work. He taught social
work in Loyola College since 1981. He completed his doctoral studies in social work
concentrating on community health models in South India. He has been instrumental
in initiating several courses like counseling for social work, Health Care administration,
hospital management, communication for social work. He also started a new
specialization in Human Rights for Social Work. It was considered one of its kinds. He
was the principle of Loyola College from the year 2000 – 2004.During his tenure he
brought about the successful restructuring of all the undergraduate programmes.He
also founded the ‘out reach’ programme, which has become a model for the universities
to emulate. Currently Fr. Joseph Xavier is the superior of the Indian Social Institute,
Bangalore; he also is the chairperson of the Xavier board. He has numerous
publications in National and International journals
