He is the designer of the “Hissatsu, the Otanashi noh Ken and 7 other
close quarter battle knives produced by CRKT.
James has trained, competed
in, and taught a number of
different martial disciplines:
Japanese, Okinawan,
Chinese, Filippino, as well as
the Brazilian system of
Jujitsu as taught by Rorion
and Royce Gracie and was
certified in Russia as an instructor of Systema. He studied the Yanagi
Ryu of the Yoshida Han under the late Don Angier Sensei, Soke of the
system, for 20 years and the martial traditions of the Kuroda Han as
taught by Kuroda Tetsuzan Sensei for 15 years. James also studied
Daito Ryu Roppokai with Okamoto Seigo sensei.
The strategy of the Samurai was based on their knowledge and use of edged
weapons. Thus the study of the sword and the study of strategy were concurrent and virtually synonymous practices. For the Samurai the study of strategy
and its practical applications was their life’s work.
James Williams has studied warrior arts for over 50 years. For well over two
decades he has been adapting the strategy, tactics, and techniques of these
ancient warriors to the modern tactical environment. The depth of knowledge
contained in these arts is vast.
In “Edged Weapons Use for Combat” James explains and demonstrates the
tactics and techniques he teaches to military special operations, government
agencies, and law enforcement SWAT teams. The System of Strategy is simple
to learn yet extremely effective.
