An Aera Energy employee has been arrested
and accused of embezzling
from the company.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Rural Crimes Investigations Unit arrested Gary
Lumpkins Jr. ,44, on Oct. 8
after a three-week investigation that started when
Aera reported he had embezzled property.
“During the three week
long investigation detectives determined Lumpkins
had made numerous purchases of equipment and
supplies on Aera accounts,”
a Sheriff’s news release
said. “A search warrant was
served at Lumpkins residence and numerous items
of stolen property were located during the search.
Detectives also
searched two storage units
and a shop where additional Aera property was
located. The total value of
the recovered items of
stolen property exceeded
$60,000. A firearm was
also seized from Lumpkins
home.”
Lumpkins was charged
with embezzlement and
possession of a firearm by
a felon.
