The present brochure contains the specialisations
offered by the Babes-Bolyai University at undergraduate level
for Admission in 2016.
Further information about the admission can be found at
http://admitere.ubbcluj.ro. Please access from this website
both the general information on the admission procedure, and
the information on the required specialisations on the faculties
websites. The information can be accessed from the main page
menu, at "structure" and then "faculties". For any further
details, respectively complete information on the specialisations, please refer to the admission committees of the faculties
that provide these specialisations. The number of places –
financed and tuition places – are communicated by the Ministry and by the University subsequent to the publication of this
informative brochure.
Any further alterations of the present material, provided
further regulations are issued by the Ministry of National
Education, respectively following the authorization of new
specialisations, will be promptly communicated via all available
means. The responsibility passes on the Admission committees
of the UBB faculties, the Centre for Communication and PR and
the Permanent Admission Offices.

Written test in Mathematics or Computer Science (upon candidate's choice)
from a Mathematics/ Computer Science theme announced on the faculty
website;
UBB Math-Informatics Competition, organized by the faculty April 16, 2016 at
9.00 a.m. allows the candidates to replace the written test.
The grade obtained in the competition (if it is at least 6) can be considered,
upon candidate's request, the grade of the admission written exam.
Candidates who obtained outstanding results in Mathematics, Informatics or
Astronomy national and international Olympiads and competitions, as well as
the first 6 ranked in each discipline of the UBB Math-Informatics Competition
are admitted with grade 10.00;

Selection criteria
One-hour multiple choice test.
For the admission exam, candidates will choose one of the three disciplines:
Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry or Mathematics-Algebra.
The test subject is elaborated according to the syllabus for these subjects and
can be found at: http://chem.ubbcluj.ro/admitere/tematica.html.
The test will consist in 6 multiple choice questions (out of which only one is
correct), selected out of a set of 50 multiple choice questions which will be
posted on http://chem.ubbcluj.ro/admitere/tematica.html at least 4 months
before the admission exam.
In the registration form the language of choice for the admission exam will be
specified.

Admission score is calculated as an arithmetic mean between the grade
obtained in the admission test and the average obtained at the baccalaureate
exam according to the formula:
Admission score = 0.2 x (admission test grade) + 0.8 x (baccalaureate exam
average)
As an alternative to multiple choice test the result of the "Candin
Liteanu" competition can be taken into account.

Selection criteria for the specialisations with current number 1, 2:
• Written test at Romanian language (90 minutes) calculated as 50%
of the admission score.
• The baccalaureate score calculated as 50% of the admission score.
After completion of written test in Romanian language, candidates will write in
maximum 30 minutes an essay in an international language (English, French,
German, Russian, Italian, Spanish) on a Pass/ Fail basis.
Selection criteria for specialisations with current number 3 and 4 the criteria
is:

• Written test at Hungarian language, allocated time 90 minutes calculated as 50% of the admission score
After completion of written test at Hungarian language, candidates
will write in maximum 30 minutes an essay in an international language
(English, French, German, Russian, Italian, Spanish), on a Pass/ Fail basis.
• Selection criteria for specializations with current number 5, 6, 7, 8,
9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17:
• Written test at foreign language (90 minutes) calculated as 50% of
the admission score.

Applied Modern Languages Field
20. Specialisation: APPLIED MODERN LANGUAGES
Selection criteria
• Language proficiency test for the Major and Minor languages of
the specialisation.
Assessment of linguistic competence in both languages of the Applied Modern
Languages specialisation chosen by the candidate is compulsory.
Assessment will be carried with the Department of Applied Modern
Languages through CIL-LMA ((http://lett.ubbcluj.ro/servicii/centru-pentruindustriile-limbii/) based on schedule according to language pairings, starting
January 2016
In order to pass the linguistic competence test in the two languages of the
specialisation the candidate must pass both oral and written language component of the test.

Selection criteria
Selection criteria for the Romanian line of study:
• 50% of the baccalaureate exam score
• 50% multiple choice test based on a high school Psychology textbook
The multiple choice test is calculated as 50% of the final admission score; the
test is NOT eliminatory. This test targets elementary knowledge in Psychology
based on the 10th Grade Psychology textbook (Psychology: 10th Grade textbook,
Polirom Publishing House, coord. Adrian Neculau, ed. 2007).
Selection criteria for the Hungarian line of study:
• 50% written test
The written test is calculated as 50% of the final admission score; the test is
NOT eliminatory.
The written test targets the basic knowledge in the field of Psychology: Sensory
cognitive processes; Superior cognitive processes; Language; Regulatory
processes; Temperament; Aptitudes; Creativity; Stages in the development of
the personality.

70% of the baccalaureate exam score + 30% of the knowledge competition score if
the exam score is at least 6.00.
100% of the baccalaureate exam score if the candidate did not participate in the
knowledge competition or does not wish this grade to be taken into account.
Candidates who choose Business Administration and Business Administration in
Hospitality Services specialisations with teaching in English will sit for a linguistic
competence test, which is eliminatory on a pass/ fail basis or they can choose to
equate this test with one of the linguistic competence certificates enclosed in the
file upon registration (see the UBB Admission Regulation/ Annex).
The knowledge competition will take place on April 9, 2016 at the faculty, the
candidates will choose a test in Economics or Mathematics.
Faculty of Business will post on its website the required bibliography for the
competition.
Candidates who wish to register for the knowledge competition can participate in
the training programme for the test, organized on April 2, 2016 (according to the
calendar posted on www.tbs.ubbcluj.ro) at the Faculty of Business, 7 Horea Street.
