The Electric Bike Store in Southwark, London is a leading
stockist and supplier of Volt electric bikes. The Volt
bike range has been designed in the UK and combines
comfortable electric bike riding and stylish design with the
latest and most reliable electric bike technology currently
available. The Volt range uses the latest Lithium Polymer
batteries providing cycling distances on one charge of over
50 miles on medium pedal assist.
As a leading retailer of Volt bikes, the Electric Bike Store
supplies several fleet buyers and wanted some way of
providing customised branding graphics on the bikes for
fleet customers. Piers Metcalfe, a Director with the company
confirms, “Some of our fleet customers and even individuals
wanted to put graphics on the bikes. So we needed some way
of printing self-adhesive graphic panels in short runs, which
could then be placed on the bike frames and battery packs. It
had to be a cost-effective method because we wanted to print
short runs of ten or twenty sets of graphics, not hundreds.”
Piers contacted Printer Experts a local IT and printer specialist
supplier. “They discussed our needs and Rob Newman, their
Sales Director, recommended the Konica Minolta Magicolor
5670EN laser printer due to its ability to produce sharp prints
with unparalleled quality in image and colour”, says Piers. The
Magicolor 5670 offers a high rate of productivity, with the ability
to produce a finer solid black and colours onto plastic selfadhesive film, ensuring the perfect look every time.
“Unlike some manufacturers, Konica Minolta supplies the
Magicolor 5670 with a full set of toner cartridges with a 12,000
sheet maximum yield and not just starter cartridges. This
coupled with the print quality made the Magicolor 5670 the
best and most cost-effective solution for the Electric Bike
Store”, Rob explains.

The company was also able to use the Magicolor 5670 for its
bike hire business. “As well as our bike sales business we hire
electric bikes through our subsidiary London Bridge E-bike
Hire. Using print output from the Magicolor 5670 we were able
to brand all the electric bikes in our hire fleet increasing the
visibility and publicity value of our hire business with slogans
like ‘hire me’ and so on”, Piers states.
In addition to colour graphics output, the company has found
the Magicolor 5670 to be an economical A4 colour workgroup
laser printer in the office. “It’s proved to be an excellent office
printer with high quality colour output available to all our staff.”
The versatility of the Magicolor 5670 means that users can also
enjoy high-volume yet economic printing including the ability to
print full colour business cards, letterheads, health and safety
signs and a myriad of bespoke print output.
“We have found it to be an excellent solution for the graphics
application. We’re now looking at extending this for other uses
such as outdoor signage, window stickers and so on because
the graphics are totally waterproof. Production is quick and
economic and we also have an excellent print device for our
general office needs. We think it’s superb”, Piers concludes.
