Attendance Office (928) 502-5711 (928) 502-5712 www.cibola.yumaunion.org ATTENDANCE REGULATIONS AND PROCEDURES TARDY POLICY At Cibola High School, students who are not in their assigned classrooms, seats, or activities before the bell rings, and do not have a pass, will be considered tardy. Tardy students are not allowed to enter their class and are to report to the “Tardy Sweep Room” for the remainder of that class period. The sweep room monitor will supervise tardy students and make record of their attendance in the tardy sweep room. Failure to report to the “Tardy Sweep Room” will constitute an absence, and the students will be considered truant. After five tardies in a semester, students are referred to administration for further disciplinary action. Students who are more than 10 minutes late for a class will be considered absent for that period and should report to the Attendance Office for a pass to class. This situation will count towards a student’s unexcused absence total. CLASS SCHEDULES The master schedule is developed from student requests during registration in the spring semester. Tentative class schedules are distributed to registered students during August registration. The only valid reasons for schedule changes are: Changes needed to justify graduation requirements. Changes necessary due to the failure of a pre-requisite course. Changes required for health reasons. (Doctor verification required) Changes required because of completion of summer school or correspondence courses. Changes required because of course conflicts appearing on computer schedule. Changes required because of an Exceptional Student Services Individual Education Plan. DETENTION Tuesday and Thursday 2:36 – 4:36 p.m Room 721 Detention will be held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons in Room 721 beginning at 2:36 p.m. Students who are not on time to the detention room will be marked absent and referred back to the person who assigned the detention. Grades are based upon the following percentages with their grade point value being determined by the level of class and grade earned: Regular AP Courses A = 90 – 100% 4 points 5 points B = 80 – 89% 3 points 4 points C = 70 – 79% 2 points 3 points D = 60 – 69% 1 point 1 point F / NC 0 points 0 points Credit is given for grades of A, B, C, and D, but F and NC do not receive credit. An “I” indicates incomplete and means that the student was unable to complete work due to circumstances beyond his/her control. It is the responsibility of the student to complete work within two weeks or a failing grade will be issued. NC’s indicate the student passed the class but did not meet attendance requirements.
