Thank you to everyone for your support and generosity of this very worthwhile project and for helping
our students become more aware of some of our
community families’ needs.
Cold Weather
Reminder
Thank you for your donations to the Westview Community Project, Operation Warm and Fuzzy and Jammin’
With Books. The goal of Operation Warm and Fuzzy
and Jammin’ With Books is to warm the hearts and spirits
of children who may be cold, lonely or forgotten as the
holidays approach and the weather turns cold.
Keeping in the spirit of things, students and staff participated in Westview Pajama Day on Friday, November
18th. Students came to school in pajamas, slippers and
robes and were able to take some time out of their busy
day to find a warm and comfy spot to enjoy a book. We
hope all students had time to think about what other children may be missing as they read a book in their warm
comfy pajamas at school.
Coats, hats, snow pants and
mittens are sure delightful
when the weather outside
is frightful.
Westview students go outside every day for recess,
weather permitting. Students are reminded to dress
according to the weather. Inclement weather requires appropriate footwear and outerwear. We
would like to avoid having students call mom or dad
at work to bring items to school, so please remind
your children to bring hats, gloves, snow pants, boots
etc. Also, a reminder about bringing their shoes to
school on days they wear their boots would be a plus.
Extra socks are also very helpful when their feet get
wet and cold!
Interactive Opera-tunity!
Seven third graders have been chosen to participate in the Interactive Opera workshop.
The seven students who have been selected are: Joshua Banfield, Jacob Bell, Millie Curran,
Geoffrey Erickson, Annabelle Etukudo, Seth Milsap and Isaac Vorwald. The opera is a shortened version of "The Pirates of Penzance" and is directed by Professor Susan Day at UWP.
The students were selected by Mrs. Rogers and have been working with UWP Music students Emily Neal and Michelle Kolkoski to learn their parts for the opera. University students as well as Middle School students are also part of the opera cast.
All Westview and Neal Wilkins students will be going to see a performance of the opera on Monday, December
19 at 10:00 a.m at the Middle School. There are also two evening performances on Dec. 8 and 9th at 7:30 p.m.
at the CFA Brodbeck Concert Hall. Admission is free for these performances. The Music Department will be
presenting excerpts from "The Magic Flute" and "Dialogue of the Carmelites" at the evening performances as
well.

“Diego
P.T.O. Thank You
Thank you to the parents and the P.T.O. for the delicious meals that were provided to our teachers for
the Fall Parent Teacher Conferences. Also, thank
you for the refreshments provided for American
Education Week. They were greatly appreciated.
and Deputy Hottenstein”
The third graders read a story in their reading classes
called “Aero and Officer Mike” about a police officer
and his K-9 partner. After reading the story they had a
visit on November 16 from Grant County Deputy Ric
Hottenstein and his K-9 partner Diego! Deputy
Hottenstein shared lots of information about the
training required to be a K-9 dog and his partner. The
students had a chance to ask good questions about
what it is like to work with a dog as a partner.
