Saint Joseph Church Mission Statement
We, the people of Saint Joseph Church, by the grace of God,
born again in the waters of Baptism, seek to create a
community where our mutual faith in Jesus as Lord and
Savior, encourages us to continue growing as disciples. We
believe that discipleship is a way of life. We strive to show
that we are committed disciples, eager to welcome the
stranger, feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, and comfort
the bereaved. Inspired by God’s word and nourished by the
Eucharist, we pledge ourselves to active discipleship all for
God’s greater glory and honor.

GETTING TO KNOW OUR CATECHISTS
MYRNA BRUNO
Myrna is a 5th grade catechist for the early session of the monthly Sunday program.
Among her many talents, Myrna has taught CCD in high school, she has been a counselor at Summer camps and a Scout
leader for several years, she has been Court-Appointed for children in foster care and many other services benefiting the
entire community. Despite the distance and her many endeavors, Myrna still finds time in her agenda for our children in
faith formation. She loves to support families in teaching the faith to their children. Myrna believes God has presented her
with amazing opportunities to help others as well as to have her own faith strengthened. The aspects of her journey of faith
that she loves the most is the celebration of Mass and participating of the Liturgy as a Lector and/or a Eucharistic Minister.
She also promotes the faith as a steward in prayer and in deeds counting with the assistance of the Virgin Mary and in
prayer with all the saints.

TUITION ANGEL FUND
As we know, the downturn of the economy in recent
years has had a tremendous impact on all of us. Many families
who have students in Catholic schools feel the ever increasing
pressures of meeting their family's needs along with the additional
impact of tuition.
We here at Saint Joseph Academy have established a
"Tuition Angel Fund". The purpose of the fund is to help families
who are struggling financially yet are committed to providing their
child(ren) with a Catholic education. We look to our parishioners
to help us keep this vital resource available to the young families of
our parish. Please consider making regular donations to this fund
knowing that you are helping spread the word of God through your
generosity by supporting some very needy families and their children in Saint Joseph Academy. Donations may also be made in
memory of a loved one or a friend with an acknowledgement being sent to their family. We even have children that look to share
their blessings by asking their families to make donations to the
"Tuition Angel" fund instead of receiving presents at birthdays,
holidays, etc.
Also, if your resources are such, please consider
"adopting" a student, thus supporting a student(s) by paying all or
part of the monthly tuition. We have many single parents
and families who desperately would like their child to attend Saint
Joseph Academy but do not have the resources to pay. Please feel
free to add your check to the weekly Vestibule Area-lection basket
in an envelope clearly marked "Tuition Angel" or contact the
school office for more information at 201-487-8641. May God
bless your generosity. Your donations can truly make a difference
in a young child's life.

Pre-K 4
Mrs. Saccoccio and Mrs. Barcon
Pre-K 4 is ready for Spring! After months and
months of cold weather, Pre-K 4 was ready to start
preparing for one of our favorite holidays, St. Patrick’s Day!
Our students love to participate in “hands-on” activities, and
especially enjoyed our latest activity of learning about
rainbows. Students learned to identify the colors of the rainbow, and were introduced to new vocabulary words such as
prism, light, and sun. To conclude our lesson on rainbows,
each student made their own rainbow out of something they
found to be both fun and delicious…fruit loops! Students
sorted the cereal by color and then created their own
beautiful rainbows!
A little child in church watched as the ushers passed the
offering plate. When they neared the pew where he sat, the
youngster piped up so that everyone could hear. 'Don't pay for
me Daddy. I'm under five.'

After a church service on Sunday morning, a young boy suddenly announced to his mother, 'I've decided to become a minister when I grow
up.' 'That's okay with us, but what made you decide that?' 'Well,' said
the little boy, 'I have to go to church on Sunday anyway, and I figure it
will be more fun to stand up and yell, than to sit and listen.'
**********
A 6-year-old was overheard reciting the Lord's Prayer at a church
service. 'And forgive us our trash passes, as we forgive those
who passed trash against us.'

RAISED UP BY THE MESSIAH
Last week, when Jesus referred to the destruction of the temple,
the account from today’s first reading is what would have come to
the minds of his listeners. But, as Jesus was speaking on a deeper
level, so does today’s first reading. In the first paragraph we hear
that Israel had, in effect, “fallen” already through its infidelity to the
covenant. Lest we get too cozy, this account reminds us that God,
though just, loving, and merciful, is capable of punishing sin when
that sin is unrepentant. But we are also reminded that God, rich in
mercy, anoints individuals to be vessels of salvation as well (in
Hebrew, King Cyrus of Persia is called “messiah”). In the Gospel
reading, we hear of another Messiah being “lifted up” for our
salvation in one of the best‑known passages from the New
Testament. As Lent concludes and we enter Holy Week, we need to
keep our gaze steadfast upon the cross of Christ, the Son of God
who came into the world to raise us who had fallen. Copyright © J.

pecado no arrepentido.
o Juan 9:1-41 [1, 6-9, 13-17, 34-38].

On Friday, March 27th at 8:00 the parish will host “Jesus the Healer”, a highly dramatic presentation of the powerful miracles and
healing events of Jesus’ life , performed by the Franciscan Mystery Players from Notre Dame Church in North Caldwell. By sharing
“Jesus the Healer” with others, the Mystery Players commit themselves to offering strength and peace to all those who are suffering. Thousands of lives have been touched by the play’s powerful witness of faith, hope, and love. At the end of each presentation, there is an opportunity for individual prayers for healing. Please plan on joining us for this highly effective way of preparing for Holy Week.
