LEONARDO DA VINCI EXHIBIT IN K.C.!!
"Da Vinci Dawns The Halls Of Union Station"
Saturday November 7th at 10:30 a.m.
Union Station- Kansas City, Missouri
Watermark University
We are getting an abundance of participation this semester
in our Watermark University classes, and that is a great
indicator of a successful semester! We are excited that we
have an abundance of classes that appeal to so many
different varieties of interest. Before we know it our
semester will be coming to an close, but don't fret...that
just means that we will be starting a new semester soon!
We will be planning and creating our winter semester
catalog in December and that of course always means that
we will be looking for some new class offerings and new
instructors. If you are interested in teaching a particular
class or would like to recommend some ideas for classes
for this coming semester we ask that you stop by the
Community Life office and share your wonderful ideas with
Jason Barrett or Karol Swain. We look forward to hearing or
seeing you soon. We are excited to be starting a new
semester soon and we are hopeful to make it our best
opportunity for life-long learning and brain and body
fitness for life! We'll see you in class! Winter semester
begins January 2016...it won't be long!

55+ INDEPENDENT LIVING
Join the Greenbriar gang for a day outing in the city
to visit Union Station for a wonderful exhibit about
the premier Italian Renaissance artist, Leonardo Da
Vinci! This exhibit is an interactive educational
experience that will tap the imagination of Da Vinci
and his creations and bring them to fruition in reallife machines. You will learn more behind the man
that is more than the sum of his drawings, paintings,
and sculptures, but rather a brilliant mind and
inventor of hundreds of machines that he created
intricate concept drawings and blue prints for. It isn't
really known whether or not his machines were ever
created within his life, but the legacy of the
machines that he left on paper was enough for
engineers to recreate his mechanical creations!
Travel with us to Renaissance Florence and
submerse yourself in the life of Da Vinci! Admission
for this exhibit is $13.95, which includes all exhibits
and gift shop. Prior to our visit to the exhibit we will
be taking a tour of Italy through the taste buds as
we enjoy a delightful lunch at Lydia's Italy
Restaurant in the historic Kansas City Freight
District. Our gondola departs at 10:30 am for a trip
to Florence and to classical Italy...don't miss this
opportunity to travel the boot-shaped peninsula all
without ever leaving stateside! Unisciti a noi (Join
us)!

Thriving
Welcome back again for another
month of thriving at The Fountains
at Greenbriar. Each month, as you
may already know, we feature a
Resident or Associate that is
demonstrating exceptional
characteristics of thriving. As we
have delved into the psyche of
thriving in previous months we
have discovered that the attributes
of thriving will look a little different
for each individual, but ultimately the end result is never wavering.
This month we would like to take the time to highlight a Resident
who has displayed some exceptional characteristics of thriving
over the past few months. Resident Margaret Gill has been a
Resident at The Fountains at Greenbriar for about a little over
three years. Since her time with us she has been a Watermark
University instructor for three different classes. She is also a big
proponent of learning at Watermark University classes. She is
actively involved in community activities, especially all things
health and wellness related! Margaret is always engaged in the
community happenings, but that makes sense since she spent the
largest part of her career in social work . She loves to be involved
with things in the community and nothing brings more happiness
to her when she has the opportunity to give back to others. She
loves to do that with her gift of piano and organ playing. She lends
this talent quite often to the Residents in Devotions and for
Sunday School. Margaret is also very trendy with her photo "selfie"
skills. The photo above is a "selfie" at Corner Café. Thank you
Margaret for all of your many contributions to the community!

PIANO PERFORMANCE WITH HEIDI LAUBER
Sunday November 1st and 15th at 5:00 pm in the MPR.
If you are a fan of classical piano and contemporary
melodies, then you need to hear the harmonies on
piano by volunteer Heidi Lauber. Heidi is a librarian at
Claremont Elementary School in the Fort Osage School
District. She has been playing piano for more than 20
years. Playing piano is a great way for her to remember
and reminisce of her grandmother and the music that
she played for her. She is delighted to have this
opportunity to come and play for The Fountains at
Greenbriar and is anxious to get back in front of an
audience again.
She will be here playing for about an hour and a half.
If you have some special request she may be able to
accommodate them on the spot, if not, she is willing to
learn your songs to come back an play for you. Heidi
will be joining us on two occasions this month. The
first performance will be on Sunday November 1st at
5:00 pm in the Multi-Purpose Room and the second
performance will be held on Sunday November 15th at
5:00 pm in the Multi-Purpose Room. Take this
opportunity to enjoy a musical performance with Heidi!
