Media
Due to technological and digital advancements and a
widespread integration of media channels, the potential
impact of media and entertainment concepts is huge.
Major media spectacles hold people in rapt attention
for days on end. Virtual worlds on the internet are taking
over parts of our social lives. What’s significant is that
the games industry generates more revenue than the
entire international film and music industry. Broaden

NHTV offers both academic and professional bachelor’s
programmes for students who passed their A levels.
The academic bachelors link practical experience and
specialised knowledge to academic insights. In 3 years’
time, you will become an expert at researching.
The professional bachelors are more practice-based
programmes. As a rule a professional bachelor will take
you four years, but if you passed your A-levels, you can
follow an intensive three-year track.

Challenging and Inspiring Education
Using Talent
Your study programme will cover some focus areas
which are very unique to NHTV. These focus areas are
cross-cultural understanding, social responsibility,
imagineering and entrepreneurship.
NHTV aims to be a meeting place for talent: a place where students,
employees and knowledge workers from both industry and the academic
community share their skills. Encounters within NHTV revolve around the
acquisition, development and sharing of knowledge - but above all, NHTV
is a place where people find inspiration, and in turn, inspire others.
In a cross-cultural context you learn to look at other cultures. The aim
is to learn to understand different views by looking at a problem from
several perspectives. You will set off to uncover hidden information,

What Makes the Dutch Education System Unique?
The higher education system in the Netherlands is based on a
three cycle degree system, consisting of bachelor’s, master’s and
PhD degrees. What makes the Dutch system unique? Respect for
each individual’s opinions and convictions is a national virtue that
gives strength to the fabric of Holland’s diverse and plural society.
This virtue is also reflected in the education system. The teaching
style can be described as interactive and student-centred, providing
students with the attention and freedom they need to develop their
own opinions and creativity while applying their newly acquired
knowledge.
Keep in mind that you want to broaden your horizon,
by exploring areas that really interest you and most
importantly find a place you feel at home.

When you opt for NHTV Breda,
you opt for quality in an international setting
NHTV prepares you for management-level positions in an international setting.
International accreditations from, for instance, the UN World Tourism Organization,
the World Leisure Organization and the International Facility Management Association
underline the quality of education. In the ranking of Dutch higher education institutes
of the ‘Keuzegids HBO Voltijd 2014’ all NHTV bachelor’s programmes rank high in their
categories and some bachelors are even qualified as top rated programme.
International Opportunities
NHTV works together with many leading education institutions all over
the world. As a result, there are many opportunities for intensive student
and lecturer exchanges. Due in part to the joint research programmes,
student conferences and summer courses, the international character
of the programmes is strengthened. Furthermore, NHTV encourages
work placements abroad or at internationally oriented companies.
14
Most of NHTV’s study programmes are taught in English. The institute recruits
foreign professionals and about 13% of the total student population are foreigners.
International business and international cooperation are key elements in NHTV’s
curriculum, both from a social and a cultural perspective and from an economic point
of view. The cultural mix is a fertile breeding ground for open-minded, curious and
worldly-wise students!
Centre of Expertise
NHTV boasts various
knowledge and research
centres. In addition, the
Dutch Ministry of Education,
Culture and Science has
appointed two Centres of
Expertise at NHTV - one in
the field of Tourism, Leisure,
Hospitality and one in the
field of Logistics.
