MAKERS OF BEAUT I FUL KI TCHENS
Treske’s outstanding, innovative kitchens cannot be seen on the high street because every order
is custom made and we do not supply retailers. So, in the following pages, with the kind consent
of some of our customers, (thank you all) we invite you into their homes to see why they chose
Treske kitchens.
Treske is the kitchen maker of choice for anyone who appreciates contemporary yet timeless
design and fine craftsmanship. We are a byword for professionalism and good customer relations,
with delighted clients throughout the British Isles.
Our customers know that we positively encourage effective communication at all stages of the
planning, design, installation and finishing process. Every aspect of the process of design is
customer-led and installation is carried out only by Treske craftsmen.
We warmly welcome visitors to our factory showrooms
in an historic Victorian maltings building. There you can
see and touch the solid hardwoods and exquisite veneers
our skilled craftsmen and women use. Eye catching
displays of furniture for every room and constantly
updated examples of kitchen designs fitted with gorgeous
worktops and top of the range appliances, will make your
visit a pleasure.
Treske is a family owned, independent company founded in 1973. We are proud that over
60% of commissions come from previous customers or their recommendations to their friends.
Whatever your needs and dreams for your home, you can trust us to fulfil them.

This kitchen was commissioned for a farmhouse restoration project and is proof that good contemporary design fits happily within traditional
architecture, especially when natural materials are crafted into timeless classics.
SHAKER
Sycamore kitchen with granite surfaces, beech worktop to island unit and
beech knobs
Sycamore’s light colour and close grain lends itself well to modern furniture design. Beech for knobs and island unit top lends a note of warmth
and the Shaker style panels and doors evoke the simple truth that, in the right hands, truly functional design is always beautiful. African black
granite and slate for surfaces and floor counterbalance the paleness of the sycamore and a royal blue Aga, Franke sink and Perrin and Rowe tap
complete a quality installation. Light, friendly, pleasing to look at, a joy to use, this kitchen breathes life into the heart of an old house.

FARMHOUSE
Burr oak farmhouse kitchen with island unit, granite worktops and Aga
In a converted barn Treske have created an expansive, informal living kitchen that fulfils the needs of a busy
professional couple with an equally active family life.
The mixture of free standing and fitted components in a traditional farmhouse style works particularly
well in the high-ceilinged stone-walled space, while a large island unit and classic Aga provide a central focus.
The mellow oak is both beautiful and tough while granite work surfaces are immensely practical for families
who cook.
Whatever the size and shape of your room, Treske’s designers are sensitive to the needs of individual
clients and their families and how best to work with a setting rather than imposing a kitchen upon it.

This traditional design, with framed panelled doors in burr oak, features a curved island unit which visually and physically invites footfall from the
lobby of the house into the kitchen.
A two oven Aga and companion gas oven and hob, Ubatuba granite worktops, plate racks, book shelves, hidden pantry and doors concealing
the free standing fridge and freezer are fitted within the stone walls. Bespoke storage with a range of deep and shallow drawers and a Shaws
Bowland sink complete a kitchen that is as practical as it is handsome.
From the mantle over the Aga and a free standing dresser with display lighting, to the solid beech dovetailed drawers and wrought iron handles,
every aspect of the client’s brief was fulfilled to make this the perfect workplace and appropriate setting for a happy cook.

Conservatory kitchen in oak with granite work surfaces and contrasting painted
island unit with oak work surface
A detached town house was extended into a large octagonal conservatory style garden cum dining room and kitchen. This contemporary
integration of house and garden required exceptional care in the planning of storage, cooking, working and dining areas and a refined aesthetic
in the choice of materials. The oak kitchen by Treske includes a corbelled mantle over a white four oven Aga, a painted island with a beech top
and granite worktops. Fired Earth tiles complement the relaxed sophistication of Treske’s designs and the warm tones of the oak.
To complete this delightfully welcoming and light-filled addition to the home, a Treske oak kitchen table with a solid top and Treske’s Carlton
oak dining chairs complement the kitchen.

TRADITIONAL
Traditional oak framed and beaded kitchen, pewter knobs, granite worktops,
Lacanche range cooker
In this Victorian townhouse the kitchen is designed around a period bay window which gives onto the garden. When it came to fitting, this unique
configuration relied on Treske’s renowned workmanship to produce the highest quality finish to every aspect. The oak framed and beaded doors
and panels are set off by pewter knobs and granite worktops and splashbacks, while the Lacanche range cooker is only one of the prestigious
manufacturer’s appliances available to Treske’s customers.
Whether it is a new house, old house, big conversion or modest flat, Treske’s designers will visit, measure and work with your plans or do a
brand new design just for you. Beforehand, clients visit Treske to see for themselves the range and quality of woods and the almost infinite
combinations of handles, work surfaces, sinks and storage fittings available to make their kitchen personal and perfect.

ARTS & CRAFTS
Arts & Crafts kitchen in oak with walnut worksurface and
granite worksurfaces, granite splashbacks and Aga cooker
Late Victorian Arts and Crafts furniture designers emphasised handmade craftsmanship, solid wood and clean,
simple lines, which is very much Treske’s credo today. In this new townhouse the lines of the oak woodwork
subtly reflect the Arts and Crafts aesthetic, noticeably in the slight off-vertical batter on the panels around the
central pillar and the tapering corner supports. Walnut was used for the centre island and for the cornice.
Corian work surfaces moulded into wall splashbacks, the new Aga ‘S series’ conventional range cooker, large
fridge freezer and sleek steel handles are utterly contemporary yet complementary.
The Arts and Crafts movement laid emphasis on aesthetically unified interiors. Our client chose a table and
chairs from our V&A range, first seen at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London in 2004 during the
exhibition International Arts and Crafts.

PAINTED
Painted and oak kitchen with granite work surfaces and oak island unit
Treske met every aspect of the client’s wish list in this impressive but immensely practical kitchen. The client had thought hard about what she
wanted: from the built-in coffee maker and split-height oak island unit to the larder cupboard with its tailor-made maple interior and stunning
free standing oak dresser.
To reflect the proportions of the period room, Treske built an over mantle and pilaster-style hidden cupboards around the tiled recess which
houses the Rangemaster cooker. The cornice detail to all the units and a creamy Farrow and Ball paint completes the aesthetic effect.
The client chose Miele appliances which were supplied and installed by Treske, as were the splashbacks, work surfaces and island unit in sapphire
brown granite chosen from their excellent range.

CONTEMPORARY
Walnut kitchen with granite worktops and feature extractor unit
This linear construction black walnut kitchen is an exceptionally elegant contemporary design which allows the rich hues and beautiful
grain of the wood full expression. The AEG extractor unit is a sculptural element in the room as well as a necessity. Similarly, Treske uses
modern technology but is deeply committed to the time-honoured craft skills of their workforce who respond with flair and enthusiasm to
every commission.
It is appropriate that the quality of the results of their labours should be matched by only the very best from top of the range manufacturers:
Treske regularly incorporate Miele, Neff, Perrin and Rowe and Aga appliances, Shaws sinks, Fired Earth tiles and Farrow and Ball paints.

CONTEMPORARY
Modern sycamore kitchen with walnut detail, glass splashbacks and plinth lighting
A minimalist, modern look using exquisitely matched hand-selected figured sycamore veneers,
the design features inset walnut stringing detail to enhance the grace of the curved doors and
echo the drawer proportions in this beautifully refined kitchen. Made to the most exacting
standards for a sophisticated client, African black granite work surfaces and upstands meet a
bespoke fitted glass splashback, while LED plinth lighting and overhead and wall unit lighting
present the entire kitchen in a clean, efficient light.
Treske’s designers, craftsmen and fitters are proud that every aspect of creating this
contemporary kitchen in a traditional farmhouse exactly met the client’s highly specific brief.
Its superb aesthetic and function was completed by a range of Siemens appliances.

Innovation in kitchen design is increasingly style-led. The Arts and Crafts movement which began in the 1880s and was pioneered in Britain by
William Morris, had a lasting influence on design.
V&A archive research provided inspiring source material for our design. The central motif of a tulip was developed from Lindsay Butterfield’s
block printed linen designs while other details were influenced by designers such as Mackintosh and Voysey. Our V&A kitchen has innovative
appliances such as a Miele induction wok, thus combining modern and traditional cooking techniques while African black granite surfaces provide
contrast and balance to the aesthetics of the room.

BEDROOMS
Sycamore and walnut bedroom
The latest addition to our bedroom furniture range is an exceptionally pleasing and sophisticated design,
seen here in sycamore with walnut detail.
Bird’s eye maple panels in the curved doors conceal the TV/audio unit and its deep drawers. A walnut
plinth and knobs, subtle cornice detail and LED down lighting all add elegance, while handmade interior
storage solutions make life easy to organise. Almost limitless variations of configurations of cupboards,
wardrobes, and drawers are possible, and the furniture can be scaled to suit any size or height of bedroom
and wall dimensions.
The perfect proportions and subtle styling make this bedroom a modern classic; being craftsman-made they
will become the heirlooms of tomorrow. The panelled bed, chest of drawers and bedside cabinet can also
be made in the customer’s choice of woods and specifications.

The necessity to create an effective working environment within a domestic setting provided Treske with an opportunity to show how
sympathetically this can be done. Using oak throughout, including work surfaces, creates a coherent look, while the Pippy oak detailing, beading
and pilasters echo the elegant cornice and proportions of the room.
Treske provided specialized storage and shelving and worked with the client’s electrical and computer engineers to achieve exactly what he
needed, where he needed it.
Homeworking presents the same requirements for efficient working conditions as any office, but there is a bonus: with Treske on board the
worker can create for him or herself a thing of lasting beauty as well as a great place to work.

The Treske Showrooms and Workshop
Thirsk is famous for its fine fifteenth century St Mary’s church, market place
and well known racecourse. Only a few miles to the east the Hambleton
Hills can be seen rising to the North York Moors and the same view is
framed by the windows of the Victorian maltings in which Treske has its
factory and showrooms.
We invite you to visit us to see our show kitchens and to take a tour of our
workshop* to see rough-hewn planks being turned into beautifully designed
and finished solid hardwood furniture and kitchens.
*A tour of the workshop can be arranged by prior appointment.
We regret that the nature of the building means that it is not accessible for wheelchair users.
