A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR
Back in February, Divine Infant began the Archdiocesan program for parish renewal called Parish
Transformation. Committees were formed to explore the areas of Mission, School, and Finance and then
to discern goals, objectives and action plans for those areas.
For the next three weeks, we will look at the results from Parish Transformation. Below is a brief
summary of the goals of the Finance Committee.
Goal / Objective: #1: Increased Revenues
Action Items:
#1) Reintroduce Electronic Giving – sign up campaign.
#2) Reinforce the Importance of Financial Stewardship
Goal / Objective #2: Planned Giving
Action Items #1: "provide educational opportunities on estate planning and bequests, and how one might consider Divine
Infant Parish in their plans. Estate Planning (meeting about estate planning).
Action item 1a) Naming Divine Infant as a life insurance policy beneficiary.
Action Item #2: Create and place a Divine Infant Memorial envelope at Conboy / Hursen funeral homes.
Goal / Objective #3: Understand potential capital funds needed.
Action Item: #1) Form a building and grounds committee and review campus needs. (Archdiocesan buildings and
grounds audit).
Action Item #2: Raise funds to replace boiler
Goal / Objective#4: Begin planning for a successful “To Teach Who Christ is”
campaign.
Action item: Fr. Michael to meet with Archdiocese in January 2015.
This, of course, is a just a summary, but it lets you know what areas the Finance Committee thinks are important
for us to address. If you see anything here that interests you, please consider helping.

GOLDEN WEDDING
ANNIVERSARY MASS
Office of the Archbishop Post Office Box 1979
Chicago, Illinois 60690-1979
June 22, 2014
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
On Easter Sunday 2013, Pope Francis encouraged each person to be a witness of charity. The
Holy Father has continued to remind each of us
through his words and actions that we must serve
our brothers and sisters in order to be true disciples
of Christ.
In dioceses where many are dependent on the
Church for social and pastoral support, as well as
regions where Catholics are persecuted for their
faith, His Holiness extends his charity to those most
in need.
This year’s Peter’s Pence Collection provides
each of us the opportunity to be a witness of charity.
In addition, our financial support of this annual collection will assist Pope Francis in strengthening dioceses, religious orders and struggling communities
of faith. I thank you for your generosity.
May Our Lord continue to bless you and your
loved ones as you share your faith and charity in
your parish, the Archdiocese of Chicago and
throughout the Universal Church. You and those you
love are in my prayers; please keep me in yours.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I.
Archbishop of Chicago
BE A PILGRIM OF CHARITY
Man’s earthy activity,
when inspired and sustained by charity,
contributes to the building of the universal city
of God, which is the goal of the
history of the human family.
The Golden Wedding Anniversary Mass will be held on Sunday,
September 14, 2014, at 2:45 PM,
at Holy Name Cathedral, 735
North State Street, Chicago, Illinois. Couples married in 1964 interested in attending this celebration should contact their parish to
register. For further information

JOIN THE MINISTRY OF CONSOLATION
Each of us has experienced the loss of a loved
one and understands how difficult that journey can
be. We all need time to heal and to become whole
once again. When a member of Christ’s family dies,
the Church intercedes, because we believe that
death is not the end and our bond with our loved one
is not broken. A little help in the form of a letter, article or telephone call can bring great comfort to
someone and assure them they are not alone.
The Ministry of Consolation is designed to walk
along with people who are mourning the death of a
loved one. Being a minister to the bereaved is very
rewarding and can really help grieving members of
our Divine Infant family. There is not a lot of work
involved and you can do this in the comfort of your
own home. If you would like to help out in this ministry or want any information, please call Dr. Claudia
Dado, Coordinator 708 865-8071, ext. 304.

RELIGIOUS GOODS
CHANGE FOR SOME, NOT FOR ALL
The religious goods items conveniently located in
the vestibule of the church are for sale all year long.
Please call Paula at 708-870-5594.
By now you are enjoying the beautiful weather so
much that you have forgotten the long winter of 2013
-2014. The change in weather has been a blessing
for most of us. For some in our community, though,
the change in weather has not made a big difference
in their lives. There are still many who need help in
putting food on the table for the themselves and their
families.
Please don’t forget about them. Divine Infant’s
St. Vincent de Paul Society needs supplies to fill its
food pantry even during the beautiful months of
summer. We are especially in need of pasta, canned
meat and fish, hearty soups, and cereal. Paper products are always welcome too. Help us if you can so
everyone can enjoy the change from the dark and
cold winter to the bright and warm summer.
Food donations should be left in the baskets in
the church vestibule. Cash contributions can be included in the weekly collection baskets.
Thank you for your help.
TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION
AISLE OF GIFTS 2014
The Aisle of Gifts new gift booth is looking for
items—anything brand-new, never-used. If you
bought or received something you cannot use,
please donate it to our booth. Jewelry, purses, perfumes, stationary, tools, toys, crafts, clothes, bath
and kitchen items, small appliances. If its brand new
we will take it. You can drop them off or we can pick
them up. Call Jeanine Dent at 708 681-1128 or Barbara Calabrese at 708 343-3908. Please do not
leave items in the vestibule of the church.
Ordinary Time beckons, and so on this Sunday
we surrender the last glimmers of paschal joy as we
celebrate the renewal of our life around the table of
the Eucharist. This feast reminds us that the goal of
the catechumen’s journey through Lent is not the
baptismal font at Easter, but rather the experience of
Pentecost. It is all about life lived in the Spirit’s embrace in relationship to the Body of Christ, which is
found both “on the table” and “at the table.”
The season of confirmation is also drawing to a
close, and this feast serves as a reminder that this
sacrament, a solemn sending from font to table, is
keyed to renewed vigor. Confirmation has sometimes been sadly misunderstood as a kind of
graduation from religious formation, but it is nothing
of the sort. It is about being led by the Lord Jesus to
the place where the Spirit flourishes, and where the
gifts of the Spirit are most easily detectable. After
next week we will resume our consideration of the
sacrament of confirmation, its rich and somewhat
tangled history, its challenging theology, and its
changing celebration.
