Can Dance Studio June 2016 Newsletter
Thank you all for your support and love this year. It has been great. I am always
amazed at the level of talent and passion I see
everyday at work. I have really enjoyed watching it
grow. A special thanks to all my teachers and student
teachers. You are the backbone of Can Dance. Parents
you have made a commitment to a year of dance. Sure
your kids signed up and actually physically take the
class but it’s you who drove, paid, waited, and showed
up week after week even when the “Thanks Mom,
Thanks Dad” was forgotten. Students, thanks for
pushing yourself into new areas of dance and really
committing to your classes. I’m here because you are
here. I will never forget that. Here are a few dates to
remember this month. Parents please read carefully and see which dates pertain
to you. Please do not miss any of the scheduled events because you forgot to
read the newsletter. Remember, all students are in the rehearsal June 15th and
Show June 16th. All students.
Last day of regular classes is June 14th please note the two extra
rehearsals. June 22nd 4-5pm for provincial dances and June 29nd 4-5pm for those in the
Canada Day celebration
Rehearsal June 15th
On June 15th we will be having our rehearsal at
the Clarke Theatre. Here are your times. Also
please check that names are not missing or
spelled incorrectly. I will be sending this to the
printers Friday so we have only a few days to
change anything. These are the rehearsal
times… they are not the show times. This is only
for Wednesday June 15th. You will be required to
have your hair in a bun (all company dancers and
ballet students), or as your teacher instructed.
You will need to have your costumes. Make up is
not needed but if you want to try it to make sure it’s good then yes that is fine. It is the
last chance for us to see if you have everything so bring tights, hats, and all
accessories. No parent viewing. This is a tech rehearsal for the backstage as well as
sound and lights crew. Please do not be late, I will not wait or reschedule anyone. The
rehearsal will run 4pm-8:30pm. We will do our best to get you on stage and then out as
quick as we can. Please wait with your child unless you are in lots of dances and old
enough to be there alone. Meet in the Green room behind the stage. This will be the
same meeting place for the concert. Tickets will be for sale 4-8pm on this day at the
Clarke theatre.

June 16th. Year End show
The solo show will be 5-6pm and group show 6:30-9:00pm. Tickets are on sale now
at the studio Mon – Fri 3-5:30pm or at Jazzmatazz during regular business hours or
at the rehearsal at the Clarke theatre June 15th. We will be meeting in the green
room behind the stage. Please wait in this room until your turn to dance. Only
dancers in the first half need to wait there. Parents will be in the audience, everyone
else can watch in the audience until intermission then come back stage if you are in
the second half. Please come dressed in your first costume with full hair and
makeup. Those of you who are company dancers, or in many dances will not be
their changing their hair or makeup… smokey eye, red lipstick and hair in a bun for
all routines. There will be no videography or photos during the show. Please respect
the live theatre experience and view this performance as it was intended with no
devices. Please stay till the end of the evening. I have made the show shorter so it
will not be too late. Please respect each dancer from the first dance to the last and
be there to support them. If you are not watching the solo show, then please be
ready back stage at 6:00pm. Please bring some books or crayons and coloring if you
have a long wait before your dance. DVDs for the show are available to order that
will be taped and edited by a professional videographer. Once you have danced a
parent can come back stage and pick up the kids and they can watch the balance in
the audience. We want all parents to watch the show. We will have older dancers
returning to help keep the kids in order backstage so we will have several people
there to help, and watch over the kids.
Shine charity showcase-
“One Hit “ will be performing June 21st at the Shine Charity Showcase… All Dancers
must attend. 7pm!!! Please be there at 6:30pm at Clarke theatre. Tickets on sale
now through Shine.
Provincial Championships –
Bell performing Arts Centre – June 24th Extra practice for these dances will be

Canada Day ALL company dancers will
be performing. Mini hiphop jazz and lyrical.
Jr contemp. Lyrical, hiphop. Inters Hiphop,
contemporary, jazz and seniors Jazz,
contemp, and lyrical. This is an opportunity
to dance at the heritage park in a huge
community celebration. We will be having a
rehearsal at the studio Wednesday before June 29th 4:00 – 5:00pm. We can stay
and have a pizza night at the studio till 5:30pm as this is our last company
practice of the year. If you are away on Canada Day due to your already booked
vacation then please don’t come to the rehearsal as this is to restage the
numbers with the missing dancers.
Summer School
We are getting a great response to our summer dance programs. If anyone is
still interested you will be getting $25 off the rate and only pay $75 for five
days of dance, 3 hours a day!!! Book your space today.
Registration
Online registration is now open for Sept 2016- June 2017 season. Do not think I
automatically just know what you are taking because you told me one day while
running into class. Please fill out the online registration form so I can have the
information I need. Only then will the new schedule be fully complete for next year. I
will then post all the times and days for your child’s classes on the facebook page.
Thank you
All accounts must be cleared up before the end of the year. If you
have a balance or are owing June fees please come in this week to
clear them so we are not collecting fees on the night of our show in
order for your child to dance.
