People:
The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light.
Upon God’s people, a light has shined.
The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.
We have seen God’s glory, the glory as the only Son of God, full of grace and truth.

C on fession
Prayer of Confession & Silent Confession
Our God, You often surprise us. You surprise us with Your ways, with
Your priorities and with Your miracles. In these surprises we often
doubt Your power, Your sovereignty and Your reign. We doubt the
ways You are working because they are not our ways, our preferences
and our conveniences. God, help us to see Your surprises as gifts
rather than interruptions, Your ways as better than ours. May we find
great joy in Your ways and Your call.
Assurance of God’s Forgiveness
Affirmation of Faith The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; Who was conceived by the
Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; the third day
He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on
the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come
to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy
catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the
resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen, Amen.

Greeting & Community Life
Congregational Prayer & the Lord’s Prayer
Our Father Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom
come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day
our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is
the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
Offering Our Gifts
Anthem Gabriel’s Message
Craig Philips
The angel Gabriel from heaven came,
His wings as drifted snow, his eyes as flame;
“All hail,” said he, “thou lowly maiden Mary,
Most highly favored lady.” Gloria!
“For known a blessed Mother thou shalt be;
All generations laud and honor thee;
Thy Son shall be Emmanuel, by seers foretold.”
Then gentle Mary meekly bowed her head,
“To me be as it pleaseth God.” she said,
“My soul shall laud and magnify His holy Name.”
Of her, Emmanuel, the Christ, was born
In Bethlehem, all on a Christmas morn,
And Christian folk throughout the world
Will ever say “Most highly favored lady,”
Gloria!
- Basque Carol/Sabine Baring-Gould
