Designed by Hans Hopfer in 1971, the Mah Jong sofa system helped to change the landscape of modern domestic space. Its low modular structure, inspired by North African seating, invites users to relax and to ‘lounge’ with friends and family in an entirely new way. With almost limitless options of fabric and composition, Mah Jong users can create their own unique sofa. As such, the Mah Jong has become the most recognised symbol of Roche Bobois’s innovative style of design with versions produced by fashion icons Jean Paul Gaultier, Missoni and Sonia Rykiel.
