MSN Concentrations
Leadership
This concentration is offered full-time
(five semesters) and part-time (seven
semesters).
• This concentration is offered in two formats: on campus or primarily online (distance)
• There are extra fees for each course for the online (distance) option:
$50/lecture unit and $100/lab unit
School Nursing
This concentration offers three options:
• SNS Credential plus MSN Option: (Nine semesters) Applicants can
obtain both the credential and MSN degree
• SNS Credential Only Option:
(Four semesters) Applicants must hold a CA Preliminary SNS Credential
• MSN Only Option:
(Five semesters) Applicants must
hold a clear SNS Credential
All courses in this concentration are
offered primarily online (distance).
Women’s Health Care
This concentration requires a BSN
degree and offers two tracks:
• Nurse Midwifery:
Applicants must have a minimum of
six months recent L&D experience
• Nurse Practitioner:
Applicants must have a minimum of one year recent clinical nursing
experience (OB/Gyn preferred)
Coursework is offered full-time (seven
semesters) or part-time (five semesters),
with all courses held on campus.

This concentration is offered in

Undergraduate Programs
Bachelor of Science, Nursing
An entry-level degree path for students to
obtain a BSN. Graduates are eligible for the
Public Health Nurse Certificate and to sit
for the CA Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
exam. Entrance options are:
• Traditional BSN: Applicants with no previous nursing education. Available to first-time freshmen (Freshmen Entry Pathway) and current CSUF students in any major (CSUF Student Pathway).
• Accelerated BSN: Applicants must have a previously earned Bachelor’s degree in any field. No previous nursing education required.
• LVN-BSN: Applicants must have a current
Vocational Nurse license.

A degree path for applicants who currently

Associate Degree in Nursing. Graduates are
eligible for the Public Health Nurse
Certificate. Entrance options are:
• Campus: Applicants looking for
traditional face-to-face courses with
full-time and part-time options.
• Distance (Online): Applicants looking for mostly online courses, designed for those who work full-time. Courses are offered part-time.

Master of Science, Nursing
A degree path for applicants who currently
hold a CA Registered Nurse (RN) license and
a Bachelor’s degree. The five concentrations
are:
• Nursing Leadership: This concentration is offered through traditional
face-to-face courses or online courses
with full-time and part-time options.
• Nurse Anesthetist: Applicants must have a minimum of one year experience
working in Adult Intensive Care. Full-time option only; students are not permitted
to work while enrolled.
• Nurse Educator: Applicants must have a minimum of one year full-time clinical nursing experience. This concentration
offers traditional face-to-face courses.
• School Nursing: Applicants must hold a preliminary School Nurse Services
Credential. This concentration is offered through a mostly online option. A
credential only option is also available.
• Women’s Health Care: This
concentration is offered through a
traditional face-to-face option. Available emphases are Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Midwifery. Recent Labor &
Delivery or OB/GYN clinical nursing
experience required.

Doctor of Nursing Practice
The CSUF School of Nursing offers a
practice doctorate in collaboration with the
Southern California CSU DNP Consortium for
applicants who currently hold a CA
Registered Nurse (RN) license, a Master’s
degree, and national certification in
advanced nursing practice. For more
