The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog every morning
Friday 7th August 2015
Dear Parents and Caregivers
It is EKKA time already! Our designated EKKA holiday is next Wednesday 12 th August. The Pine Rivers and Redcliffe area
have Monday as the holiday but we are definitely here on Monday.
This week we received our College NAPLAN results. We are delighted with the results of our Year 7 and 9 students. I will
share more details of our results in a later newsletter however I have included the information that has been published
about our results. It shows the average score of SJFC students in each of the five tests and the percentage of our students
at or above the national minimum standards (NMS).

The individual reports for parents were posted to parents at the start of this week. If you have not received your daughter’s
report please contact Cathy Aylward in the College office.
Over recent weeks our Year Ten students have been completing their SET Plans (Senior Education and Training Plans). It is
now compulsory for all students entering Year Eleven to have a SET Plan in place for the years ahead. Students and their
parents have been interviewed as part of this process. Thank you to Mrs Meder, Amy Hodgkinson, Ms Peacey, Ms Gurnett,
Sharon Rowan and our other staff who have put in many hours of work leading up to and during the process. It is a time
consuming but worthwhile process. There are still a number of interviews to be rescheduled. I ask that you contact Sharon
Rowan, our Curriculum Secretary, to arrange a time. We do know that parents have work commitments and we endeavour
to negotiate where possible but sometimes due to the commitments of our staff it is not always possible to do that so we do
appreciate some flexibility around the times.
Last Friday 85 of our students were involved in the ‘Write-a-Book-in-a-Day’ Challenge where the girls worked in teams from
8.00am to 8.00pm to completely write, illustrate, edit and publish a book. There was a great buzz in the library as the
teams worked at a frantic pace to meet the deadline. This project is a fundraiser for children’s cancer. Mrs Rikki StantonCook and Shari Dows organise the day but many other staff assist them along the way and we thank all involved for offering
our girls this unique experience. It is a wonderful learning experience and an excellent team building exercise.
Last Monday night we held the College Parents and Friends Association Annual General Meeting. The College P&F oversees
the spending of the P&F levy and provides information and a discussion forum for parents.
We thank the outgoing
committee for their wonderful efforts over the past year and congratulate the new committee:
President
Secretary
Committee members
Mr Scott Smith
Vice president
Mr Tony Watson
Treasurer
Mr Lachlan Carkeet, Ms Katia Flanagan, Ms Karen Sauer
Mr Anthony Dutton
Ms Kellie Cooper
Over the last twelve months the P&F have committed to financially supporting the College loan to complete the landscaping
project and funded the purchase of a much needed replacement piano for the Killoran Centre. They are currently looking
into replacing the well-worn College barbeques. We thank the P&F for their continued support of our College in providing
those extra resources for our students.
On Tuesday 18th August all students will be attending the CaSSSA Interschool Athletics Carnival. This is considered a normal
school day and all students are expected to attend. As I have said many times before these are important community
days and supporting each other is an important part of who we are as a community.

SET Planning
It has been my pleasure to be a part of the SET Planning process this week with our Year 10 students and their families.
These important conversations are key to developing informed learning pathways for our students. Sincere thanks goes to
Mrs. Sarah Meder, Ms. Kerry Peacey and Mrs. Amy Hodgkinson for sharing their expertise in this area and guiding students
in their decision making process .
Year 10 students have had a variety of activities and information provided to them over the past month to help them
formulate ideas about their future. Despite this some students are uncertain about making decisions around subject
selection because they do not have a clear idea of their future ‘job’. To ease the pressure around the process it is
important that your daughter understands that the concept of a ‘lifelong job’ is somewhat obsolete, and rather the current
concept of career development calls for our young people to be adaptable, innovative and flexible. Selecting a broad suite
of subjects which draw upon her strengths and interests will best serve her in the senior years of schooling and beyond.
QCS Test Ready
Our Year 12 students will be sitting their full QCS Test practice on Monday and Tuesday next week. This is an important
part of the preparation program in the lead up to the actual tests on 1st and 2nd September. Whilst weekly QCS lessons
have stepped students through the type of questions asked and strategies to approach these questions and the test in
general, the practice provides important exposure to the process to be followed over the two days. This will allow the
students to come to the tests confidently and with a good understanding of the requirements of each day.
With the term well under way please note that subject changes for students in Years 9-12 are now closed. If your daughter
has any concerns with subjects I ask that she sees me directly to consider strategies for addressing issues to ensure
success during this semester and into the future.
Regards, Britt Gurnett
Photos
As per the last newsletter, College photos will be taken on Friday 14 August (individual portraits and PC group
photo) and Monday 17 August (sports photos). Individual portraits and PC class photos will be taken for all students.
For these photos, girls must be in the formal school uniform with hair pinned back appropriately. No track suits are to be
worn to school on this day and all girls must be wearing predominantly white shoes for the sports photos. Hair accessories
should be in white or maroon only and shoes need to be polished. Students will give their payment envelope to the
photographer on the day.
Social
The St John Fisher Social will be held on Friday 21 August from 7pm to 10pm in the Killoran Centre at the College. Current
school ID is essential for entry. No student will be allowed to leave before 10pm unless collected by a parent at the
entrance. Only boys from St Patrick’s College have been invited to attend. Cost is $10. Dress standards apply at the social.
We ask that all those attending dress in a modest fashion suitable for the occasion. It is inappropriate for girls to wear:
- Thongs
- Skimpy clothing such as swim wear, backless tops, bikini tops, singlets, midriff tops.
- Very short skirts or shorts.
- If leggings are worn, there must be a skirt or shorts over the top
Normal school rules regarding behaviour apply to all students.
Athletics Carnival – CaSSSA Shield
All students will be attending this day at Nathan on Tuesday 18 August to support our athletes competing for the CaSSSA
Shield. The athletes would have already received the relevant information regarding their program, 6.15am departure time
etc. The rest of the school will leave at 9am and will return to the College in time for the usual afternoon pickup and buses.
Formal uniform is to be worn on this day, including hats. Girls are advised to bring their own lunch and water as there is
limited access to the canteen.
Ekka Holiday – Wednesday 12 August
Kind regards, Carol Hoareau
Doing good; what if everyone did that?
Fr Gerry Hefferan will join us on Friday this week for a celebration Mass, for the Feast Day
of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. This will be a whole school celebration of the life of
Australia’s first saint, a woman who could not sit back while there was a need to which
she was able to respond.
By definition a saint is “an individual whom the Catholic Church has decreed to have lived
a life marked by heroic virtue. By their good conduct and good works they have gone
beyond the habits of ordinary good people.”
It is true that Mary was no ordinary woman. From the age of sixteen, Mary earned her
living and greatly supported her family, as a governess, and it was with this background
of selfless service to others that Mary, together with Father Julian Tenison Woods,
founded the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart, opening in 1866 the first Saint
Joseph's School in a disused stable in Penola, Sth Australia. Despite a number of
setbacks, she and her nuns established a number of schools and welfare institutions
throughout Australasia, with an emphasis on education for the poor, particularly in
country areas.
The following sayings give us an insight into the spirit of Mary MacKillop, an Australian like us, who lived her life serving
God as she cared for others around her:
We must teach more by example than by word.
Do all you can with the means at your disposal and calmly leave the rest to God.
Courage, courage, trust in God who helps you in all things.
God gives me strength for what is necessary.
Let God’s spirit guide you in your choice .
Finally, Mary’s motto for life and the most well-known and easiest of Mary MacKillop’s sayings for us to live by:
Never see a need without doing something about it.
It is appropriate then that at our Mass celebrating the life and work of St Mary of the Cross this week, that we will launch a
new, and hopefully ongoing Social Justice activity, called the SJFC Timor Project, assisting families in rural areas of Timor
Leste to overcome poverty and disadvantage. Everyone in our College community can help us ‘do something about it’, so
please keep an eye out over the next few weeks for details of how you can be involved.
Blessings, Geraldine Swindells
The days are flying by so quickly at present and it is hard to believe that next week is half way through this term!
RACQ Docudrama
Last week the Year 12 students participated in the RACQ Docudrama. The ‘mock’ car crash scene is one of the most
pivotal presentations of the entire Docudrama Program. Police and ambulance officers came to the scene and worked on a
victim of a ‘mock’ car accident. The students then participated in a discussion with the RACQ Education personnel and this
included real world strategies for combating the ‘Fatal Five’ road safety issues: Drink and Drug Driving, Fatigue, Not
Wearing a Seatbelt and Speeding/Distraction. We thank Julie Smith and Louise Hart of RACQ for their organisation of the
day and also for their wisdom. We also thank our student actor Jessica Bone and make-up artists Dana Winter and Verona
Thomsen.
Year 12 QCS practice
We wish the Year 12 students all the best with their QCS practice next week on Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th August.
Year 11 Dinner Dance
The Year 11 students are busily preparing for the Dinner Dance to be held next Thursday 13th August at the Virginia
Golf Club. Table seating has been organised, the menu selected, decorations chosen and the DJ preference list has been
put together. As this is a regular school day, it is expected that all Year Eleven students will be in attendance
until 12 noon when they will be dismissed for the day.
Students should arrive from 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start. The evening will conclude at 10.30pm and we ask that
parents collect their daughters at this time to ensure their safe return home. If you are making alternative arrangements
for transport home (i.e. one parent collecting a few girls), please advise us in writing so that we are aware of your
arrangements.
As the following day is school photo day, some allowance has been made regarding nails however the students must be
well-presented in their full formal school uniform with neat and tidy hair tied back.
We look forward to spending the evening with our Year 11 students and we have every confidence in their capacity for
maturity and responsibility concerning such a social event.
2016 Senior Jersey and Shorts
Senior jersey and shorts money is due next Friday 14th August for Year 11 students. The students have tried on the
samples for accuracy in size. This order is always completed early in order to receive these items before the end of the
school year.
Kindest regards for a wonderful Ekka week ahead, Liz Pashen
Term Three is well under way and it is proving to be a very busy term for the girls with lots of exciting things happening.
I would like to thank those parents who attended the Year 10 into Year 11 subject selection evening. It was a great
opportunity for parents to learn more about the subjects that are on offer for the girls next year. Many students came
away from the evening with a clearer understanding of the path they would like to take in their senior year.
Next Friday is student photo day. I have spoken to the girls about ensuring that their shoes are polished, their uniforms
are clean and their hair presentable. Could I ask for your assistance in this matter to ensure the girls are looking their best
on the day and that this high standard is continued throughout the rest of the year.
Another reminder about
the Year 10 High Ropes
Course Adventure Day
which will take place on
the 27th August. I know
the girls are very
excited about the day
as am I. If you have
any questions please
feel free to contact me
at the College.
Congratulations to all
the students who have
been involved in extra
curricula activities so
far this term. I know
many students have
been participating in
Wednesday afternoon sports, Vicki Wilson Netball and ‘Write-a-Book-in-a-Day’ (to name a few!). It is fantastic to see
students getting involved in College life. Typically Year 9 and 10 see many friendship issues; by getting involved in various
activities that the College has to offer (both outside of school and at lunch times) it enables students to meet others
outside their friendship group. It can be a trying time for families when their daughter is having some problems with their
friendship group or a particular friend. Our aim at the College is to empower our students to be able to work through
these friendship problems themselves with our guidance (if needed). Unfortunately the issues many students face now are
also going to be issues that they may face in their future. By teaching them how to solve situations themselves will be
teaching them life skills. While I understand that not all friendship concerns can be solved by the students themselves, I
urge those students to come and see either myself or Amy for guidance on the issue before it gets too much for them.
The school will not be open next Wednesday the 12th of August due to the Ekka Holiday. I hope you all enjoy your one
day off!
Kind regards, Kirsty Kingston
It is hard to believe that we are already at the end of Week Four and nearly half way through Term Three. With plenty
happening each week this term for all Year 7 and 8 students it is important that all girls make sure to keep an ear out for
notices, record all necessary information in their Planner and organise themselves to avoid becoming stressed.
This week I had the pleasure of announcing the new Class Captains and Service Leaders for each Year 7 and 8 PC for
Semester Two. Congratulations to the following girls for being elected by their peers:
7 Bridgeman
7 McAuley
7 Quinn
7 Rochester
8 Bridgeman / McAuley
8 Quinn / Rochester
Class Captain
Service Leader
Grace Scotney
Mikayla Thomas
Jasleen Kaur
Luka Henry
Gaby Munks-Wood
Lily Clark
Hannah Dunn-Smith
Janelle Dela Roca
Solome (Faith) Chifadza
Herem Reupena
Jessica Pinto
Brooke Flanagan
The Class Captains and Service Leaders act as leaders within their Pastoral Care class performing a number of tasks from
organising daily admin tasks, to representing the class at whole school events, as well as leading fundraising and charity
events, just to name a few. I’m sure these girls will represent their classes well and enjoy the experience and I look
forward to working closely with each of them.
Trimester Two sport (Volleyball/Soccer) finished this week for all Year 7 and 8 students and planning is underway for
Trimester Three sporting teams. Students in Years 7 and 8 have the opportunity to trial for Basketball or Netball teams but
are reminded that in doing so they are agreeing to make a commitment to play each Wednesday afternoon for the 8
Rounds of the sport. Please encourage your daughter to get involved in the co-curricular activities offered at the College if
she hasn’t done so already. It is a great way to keep them active and allow them to mix with different friends.
Over the next couple of weeks both the Year 7 (Thursday 13th August) and the Year 8 (Thursday 20th August) students will
be travelling to the Nudgee Mercy Centre at Banyo for their Reflection Day. This is a spiritual, reflective day, away from
classes, to give the students an opportunity to think about their journey so far at St John Fisher and to connect with the
community and its history. The students will be involved in drama, craft and reflective activities as well as a walk through
the nearby Nudgee Cemetery. We ask that the students wear their sports uniform on this day and encourage them to bring
a ‘shared lunch’ to make the day even more enjoyable.
It is sure shaping up to be a busy term so please remind your daughter to discuss any important information and dates
with you to help keep them organised (and keep you in the loop). Please also continue to keep an eye on your daughter’s
incoming assessment and ask to see her Assessment Planner (these can also be accessed via the College website) to be
aware of her school workload.
As always, please don’t hesitate to contact me at the College if you have any questions or concerns regarding your
daughter.
Kind regards, Bernie Toohey
Last Friday, eighty four talented and imaginative St John Fisher girls participated
in the Write-a-Book-in-a-Day Challenge. Over the course of twelve hours,
students from Years 7 to 12 worked in teams to write, edit, illustrate and publish
nine children’s books, all while raising funds for childhood cancer research. Not
only did our nine teams write more than 35,000 words last Friday but they also
raised more than $2500 for the Kid’s Cancer Project – well done girls!
Huge congratulations to all girls involved. All nine teams displayed incredible
team work and determination and overcame countless obstacles throughout the
twelve hour challenge. Their books will now be judged, along with the books
produced by the other 65 teams across the state, by a panel appointed by The
Kids' Cancer Project. In the meantime, children in hospitals across Australia will
receive the books created by our students. We are sure they will enjoy the
engaging (and sometimes funny!) stories and beautiful illustrations our students have produced.
I’d like to take the opportunity to thank a number of people on behalf of the girls.
Thank you to the many staff who supervised, supported, advised and consoled
throughout the day: Ms Renee Hayes, Mrs Amy
Hodgkinson, Ms Julie McCoy, Mrs Liz Pashen, Ms
Kerry Peacey, Mrs Vanessa Schoener, Ms Sue
Warren and Mr Simon Wroe. Thank you also to two
of our past students, Simone Fernandez and
Maureen Legara, who returned to the College to
assist our youngest teams. Thank you to the parents,
friends and families who generously supported the
girls by donating to the Kid’s Cancer Project. Finally,
a special thank you must go to Miss Shari Dows who
devoted much time over the course of the last few
months to preparing for the event and who was
instrumental to the success of the day.
Regards, Rikki Stanton-Cook
Interschool Athletics
The rain stayed away and the sun was shining for our Interhouse Athletics Carnival last Friday. Thank you to all the
parents and family who came down to the College to cheer on the girls. Thank you to all the girls who took part, many
records were broken and participation rates from Bridgeman house especially were brilliant. Congratulations to our age
champions and house champions!

On Tuesday 18th August our athletics squad will be competing in the CaSSSA Athletics Carnival. Athlete permission notes
have been handed out and need to be returned by Friday 14 th August. Having a new age group at the carnival this year
means the program starts earlier, therefore the athletes bus will be departing the College at 6:15am. Good luck to all girls
competing.
Met North Athletics
The Met North Athletics Carnival is run from Tuesday 25th – Thursday 27th August. SJFC is sending over 20 girls to the
carnival this year. Met North nomination forms were sent out this week and permission notes will go home next week. If all
girls involved could please return the relevant notes as soon as possible it would be greatly appreciated. A bus will be
provided to transport the girls to and from UQ each day, however, you are more than welcome to take your daughter to
the carnival if you wish.
Trimester Three sport.
Trials for Basketball (Years 7-12), Netball (Years 7-8) and Touch (Years 9-12) will take place over the next 2 weeks. Trial
information will be on the sports notice board and in the PC notices. Trimester 3 competition will begin on Wednesday 2nd
September and run for 8 weeks.
Congratulations Kate Power!!!
During the June/July holidays Kate competed in the Queensland U14 Water Polo Team and won GOLD. The East Coast
Challenge Competition was held at The Valley Pool on the 9th - 12th of July and teams from NSW, VIC, SA and New
Zealand competed. Queensland went through the whole tournament undefeated.
Kate has now been selected in the Qld Water Polo Elite Athlete Program and will join a training squad for the next four
months. This is a squad of nationally identified athletes associated with Queensland Academy of Sport.
Congratulations Kate, this is an outstanding achievement!
VW Netball
Congratulations to the SJFC Open Vicki Wilson Cup Netball Team who, after having wins in all their recent games against
Sandgate District SHS, Mt Alvernia and Aspley SHS, have finished undefeated and 1 st in their pool. The team now
progresses to the Finals Series where they will be playing teams from the other 3 pools in the Met North Region. The team
and their coach Mrs Toohey would like to thank all the staff, students and families who have come along and supported
the team at their home games. We wish them good luck and continued success in the Finals coming up.

This year instead of a music tour we are holding an Instrumental Music Day Camp and Twilight Concert. The Day Camp
will give the students an opportunity to work on individual and small group pieces as well as a performance involving all of
the students. The Day Camp and Concert will take place on Tuesday 15 September. If your daughter participates in the
Instrumental Music Program at the College and she has not yet received a letter about this event, please ask her to see Ms
Rabbitt or myself as soon as possible.
Drum Corp Students: Georgia Smith, Solome Chifadza, Herem Reupena, Feba Philip, Laura Major, Sian Coates. Absent: Jemima Murphy
Next week our newly formed Drum Corps will play at the Brisbane Exhibition. The fourteen students from our College and
St Patrick’s College have been working very hard since the end of Term Two to ensure they are ready for what we hope
will be a wonderful experience for them. If you happen to be visiting the EKKA next Thursday the Drum Corps will be
marching at 10.30 am and again at 1.00 pm. I am sure they would love to see some friendly, supportive faces in the
crowd. Ms Rabbitt and I are very proud of what they have been able to achieve in such a short time, and wish them all
the very best for this performance.
Should you have any questions about the Instrumental Music Program or any of the various cultural activities at our
College please do not hesitate to contact me.

HOUSE REPORTS
Congratulations to all the beautiful Bridgeman girls who helped win the house cup last Friday. Year 12
Bridgeman couldn’t be more ecstatic and proud and we want to thank everyone for their amazing efforts. We saw
some wacky costumes and bright colours. Everyone made it a day to remember.
Last Friday St John Fisher College held its annual ‘Write-a-Book-in-a-Day’ Challenge. I was personally involved
and was able to witness the amazing team work and determination displayed by all nine teams from Years 7-12.
Well done ladies.
Although we have a busy Term Four approaching us there is still plenty of time to fit in exciting and new
adventures for all. I would like to remind all Bridgeman girls of the various cocurricular activities they can be
involved in. Interact meet every morning tea on a Thursday and are involved in community activities such as face
painting at the Einbunpin festival recently. The Social Justice Committee meet every Monday morning tea in the
Plantation Room and people are also welcome to help out at the Magazine Committee held on selected Tuesday
lunch times in Room 14. Just remember you can join and participate in anything you want from Greedy Readers
to trimester sports and I assure you that doing something with your friends will create lasting memories.
Year 11 girls have an exciting time ahead with their Dinner Dance fast approaching. I hope all Year 11 Bridgeman girls are excited
about the evening. Stay positive and have a well-rested weekend. Brodey 
As we have only a short six weeks left it is clearly evident that it is going to continue to be a jam-packed term
and make our Term Three break well deserved. Congratulations to all the McAuley girls who participated in the
Interhouse Athletics Carnival. I cannot thank you all enough as it shows how much dedication you all have and
gives me peace of mind knowing that McAuley is in good hands! We ran a hard race but we weren’t able to win
on the day. While winning would have been nice our main aim was to have an amazing day with as many people
as possible in attendance. It was an amazing day with the war cries and everyone putting 100% into the day
and I was prouder than I would have been winning any trophy.
I want to just remind everyone that although we are almost half way through the term, we need to continue to
work just as hard for the second half to make the most out of the year, so stay well-rested, happy and have fun!
Kelsey 
I firstly want to say a very, very big thank you to all the Quinn girls for your effort at this year’s Athletics Carnival!
Throughout the day I could constantly see masses of red in every direction on the school oval. Our war cries
were louder than ever with Quinn girls joining in and yelling their hearts out. All the costumes looked so cute,
especially many of the Year 7 and 8 girls with their tutus and ribbons! Thank you for all your participation
whether it was running, throwing, jumping or cheering. Your effort has certainly paid off in house points 
Last week also brought some exciting events such as the RACQ Docudrama for Year 12 and ‘Write a-Book-ina- Day’. Personally for me the Docudrama shared such an important message for all on the road - to stay safe
and be sensible. Some tears may have been shed but overall the performance was amazing and I would like to
thank all those involved. A big ‘well done’ is also in order for all the girls who participated in Write a Book in a
Day. It was an extremely long day filled with writing, drawing and organising to ensure all the books were
completed and looking great. All your efforts certainly paid off! You should be very proud of yourselves for your
efforts in helping others.
Next week also brings the Year 11 Dinner Dance! I’m sure all Year11 girls are extremely excited to be dressing
up and looking even more beautiful than ever. I hope everything goes smoothly with appointments and travel on
the day and that the night is filled with lots of laughter and dancing.
Lastly, I just want to wish you all well with assessment this term. I know it is certainly starting to get busy. Just remember, sleep will
make your mind clearer and ensure you are aware of due dates. It can be difficult but I hope everything pays off in the end.
Work hard, dream big, Emma 
Term Three is well on its way. Last week we had the Write-a-Book-in-a-Day Challenge. Congratulations to all
the girls who spent the day writing, illustrating and designing their books - it was a big effort!
Last week we also had the presentation of the Athletics Carnival results. I am so proud of all the results we
achieved and our overall third place. It was certainly a memorable last Athletics Carnival. Congratulations to all
the girls who achieved a place overall, broke a record or participated on the day. It all helped make it an
awesome day.
Congratulations also go to the girls who placed in the Sister Act and our very own Meagan Aquilina in 10R for
winning overall.
th
On the 18 of August the whole school will be attending the Interschool Athletics Carnival. We need to show
our support and school spirit for all the girls who are representing our school on the day.
Next week the Year 12 girls have their practise QCS days which are an important time for the girls so if you see
any of them around just give them a smile and it will surely make their day.
th
th
Some dates to remember are our photo day on Friday 14 of August, sports photo day on 17 of August and the EKKA holiday which is
th
on Wednesday the 12 of August.

Explore occupations related to the subjects you like studying
The Bullseye posters use a bullseye shape to display occupations related to senior school subjects for four education and
training levels. The four levels are explained below each bullseye. Go to the myfuture website at
http://myfuture.edu.au/tools-and-resources/learning-tools-for-secondary-students and click on ‘Bullseye posters – explore
occupations by school subject’. The list of occupations allows you to access more information by clicking on the
occupations you are interested in.
Emerging occupations
According to the Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA), “more than five million jobs, almost 40 per
cent of Australian jobs that exist today, have a moderate to high likelihood of disappearing in the next 10 to 15 years due
to technological advancements” (see http://www.ceda.com.au/research-and-policy/policy-priorities/workforce for the full
report). Consequently identifying new and emerging occupational areas is important to ensure that we can gain the skills
and knowledge that will help us be employable in the future. The myfuture website cites the following sectors as
presenting new occupational opportunities.
 Digital Marketing – data analytics is providing the opportunity to measure performance effectively and closely track
return on investment.
 Cyber Security – cyber security is driving the growing need for consistent, organisation-wide responses to digital
business risk.
 Healthcare – positions in outpatient care centres and home health-care agencies are growing quickly. Along with
disease management expertise, these roles will have a sophisticated understanding of the data and analytics tools
available as well as business priorities across the spectrum of healthcare providers.
 Retail – the retail industry is borrowing ideas from the startup world and investing in new initiatives that identify growth
opportunities across digital media and technology. For example, some businesses are using insights obtained from
customer behaviour analytics to create highly-targeted engagement and marketing strategies.
 Manufacturing – industrial processes are more technology focused, and factory workers will need new skills to operate
lasers, sophisticated control tools and robotics equipment.
 Information Technology – evolving consumer and business needs require effective strategies for mobile and digital
platforms.
