Cedar Point brings you
Falcon Fraud Protection
Cedar Point Federal Credit Union has contracted with
Falcon Fraud Prevention to bring you an automated fraud
detection program. This program has proven beneficial to
both Cedar Point and our members who hold a Cedar Point
MasterCard. We are proud to inform you on March 1, 2006,
we will be converting our Visa Debit Card program to this
system as well.
When suspicious activity is detected, our card processor
will contact you (the member/card holder) to determine if the
activity was authorized or may be the result of fraud. This
contact may come from a person or an automated system.
The automated system will ask you to verify your name and
the last four digits of your 170295 Social Security number.
You will then be asked to verify certain authorizations on
your Debit or Credit card.
If you are not available, a message will be left instructing
you to call 1-800-437-9392. This phone number will connect
you to the automated system. You will be asked to enter the
phone number where you received the message and the last
four of your Social Security number. Next, you will be asked
to verify the authorizations in question.
Please be assured this is a legitimate phone call and not a
scam. If you prefer not to call, your Cedar Point member
service representative can make the call for you. Just call us
at 301-863-7071 or 800-201-1647.
If you do go out of town or out of the
country for an extended amount of time,
please let us know. We will note this on
your debit and credit account which will
help minimize the chances your
vacation purchases are considered
fraudulent by the 700579 fraud
prevention system.
In the past few years, the card
industry has experienced a growing
trend in account compromise and other
fraud that is changing the dynamics of fraud detection and
monitoring. As a result, we have seen the number of cases
increase by over 200% over the past five years. With this
dramatic increase in volume, Cedar Point, in partnership
with our card processor, has continued to pursue solutions
and technology that will help mitigate rising costs while
maximizing the effectiveness of our fraud protection
monitoring.
If you have questions about this automated system, please
call your favorite member service representative at 301-8637071 or 800-201-1647.

Insurance Tips for Young Adults
Most young people don’t think insurance is important—until they need
it. Because young adults aren’t wallowing in disposable income,
insurance often gets lost in the shuffle of rent, gas, and other routine
bills. The following are a few tips to help protect yourself against the
unexpected without spending a fortune.
Most young adults need only three types of insurance coverage:
health, renters, and auto. Life insurance is another type of policy to
consider if you have financial dependents or own a business.
Your insurance needs change as you grow older. Owning a business,
getting married, finding a new job, and becoming a parent are all
events that call for a fresh look at your insurance coverage.
Insurance comes in many shapes and sizes. By carefully considering
the type and amount of insurance to best meet your needs you can
ensure you have provided for your family’s monetary needs. Financial
planning today is a crucial, but often a complex and confusing process.
Our representatives are available to help guide you through it.

I
f you’re one of the many people
who thought the 403701 yearly
maximum contribution of $2,000
to an IRA (individual retirement
account) wasn’t high enough, you’re
in luck. Maximum contributions to
regular and Roth IRAs rose from
$2,000 a year to $3,000 at the
beginning of 2002, to $4,000 in
2005, and will rise to $5,000 in
2008. For those age 50 or older, the
maximum IRA contribution not only
will rise, but you may be allowed to
make “catch-up” contributions.

The entire credit union benefits when
members participate. That’s why we
invite every member to attend our-your--annual meeting. All members are
equal owners of the credit union.
Our annual meeting is an occasion for
management and elected officials to
report to you, the owners. And, it's an
opportunity for you to learn about the
credit union's financial position, products
and services, current business issues, and
goals. This also allows you the
opportunity to meet face-to-face with the
people who operate your credit union.
Without your input, leaders can only
guess what you and other owners want
from your credit union.
