Shadings over 96" in width may require additional fabrication and delivery time.

The braided polyester cord does not have a reverse roll stop on
shadings with the Shangri-La Hardware Systems. If a shading with
the Deluxe, Color Coordinated Aluminum or the UltraSleek Head
Rail is raised above 24" in the reverse roll mode, there is a
possibility of the fabric rubbing on the head rail. Comfortex reserves
the right NOT to warrant wear and tear of fabric if damaged by
roll-up in excess of 24".

When Shangri-La Window Shadings are installed side-by-side,
vane alignment can be guaranteed within ¼" only if:
• The shadings are the same color and ordered at the same

Omni-View System for Shangri-La Hardware
Shangri-La with Deluxe, UltraSleek and Color Coordinated
Aluminum Hardware Systems feature the Omni-View™ Cord
System. The Omni-View System provides the ability to manipulate
the shading into various viewing positions. Consequently, there
are variations in visibility through the shadings when the vanes are
tilted to their maximum open positions. The following five modes
can be obtained with standard shading operation when viewing
the shading at eye level.
•
Closed top, open bottom: By partially lowering the shading
from the fully raised position, the upper portion of your
window will become semi-opaque while allowing a clear
view below.
•
Fully private: When lowered completely, Shangri-La
provides complete privacy and softly diffused light.
•
Partially open: Opening Shangri-La slightly will gradually
increase the level of light and allow varying levels of view
through.
•
View-through when lowered: By completely opening the
vanes, Shangri-La provides a softened, veiled view to the
outside.
•
View-through when raised: From the open or viewthrough position, continuing to pull down on the back of the
cord will raise the fabric allowing a clear view outside from
below, and a veiled view above. This exclusive feature
allows Shangri-La to be raised up to 24" in this mode.

Motorized Shangri-La Sheer Horizontals
Battery Wand
Shangri-La Sheer Horizontal Window Shadings are motorized with
the Somfy™ Radio Technology (RTS) System. The motors will fully
operate the shadings with radio frequency technology.
Mounting Options
The battery wand comes with two mounting options:
• Head rail mount: Battery wand clips are mounted on the
back of the Shangri-La head rail using a high temperature
pressure sensitive adhesive.
• Wall mount: Battery wand clips are mounted to the wall.
Shangri-La Hardware Available with Somfy Motors

RTS System Wireless Timer
The RTS System Wireless Timer allows
you set specific times for your shades
to be raised or lowered. The Wireless
Timer can be programmed to operate
at the same time each day or different
times every day. It has a security
function that will raise or lower shades
randomly to give the impression of an
occupied home. Commands are
transmitted via radio, so external
wiring is not necessary.

Precise width and length measurements are critical. Fabric
width cannot be altered after the shading is fabricated.
Please use a metal tape measure for accuracy from home to
factory.

The head rail must be installed perfectly level and installed
evenly to ensure smooth operation. On an inside mount, it is
recommended that you check to see that the mounting
surface is level and consistent. If your soffit needs to be
leveled, this should be done before measuring.
Inside Mount
Measure across the width of your window opening in three
different places - top, middle and bottom. Measurements
should be taken within the window jamb. Provide the
smallest of the three measurements to Comfortex. Be exact.
Comfortex will make the necessary deductions to fit the
window opening.
3" Fabrics

Measure the length of the window opening from the
underside of the soffit to the surface of the window sill in
two places - use the smallest of these two measurements.
Vane Closure (Figure G)
Shangri-La vanes are not designed to close tightly.
The inherent nature of the fabric will cause a slight
increase in the distance from the front sheer to
back sheer as you move further down the shading.
These vanes do not form a perfect seal against light
leakage which is most visible toward the bottom of
the shading. Vane overlap ensures that privacy is
not compromised.
Outside Mount
Measure the exact width and length of the area to be
covered. On the width, allow at least 1½" of an overlap on
each side. An overlap of 3" on each side is recommended.
Be sure to take into consideration any obstructions such as

Vanes on the three styles of Shangri-La fabrics open to slightly
different degrees. Consequently, there are variations in visibility
through the shadings when the vanes are tilted to their maximum
open positions. The variations among the products are shown in
the below illustration when looking through the shading ¼ of the
way up from the bottom.

Shangri-La Window Shadings are leveled and weighted in the
factory. When installed level, the fabric will not skew when raised.
If the head rail is not installed level, skewing can occur that can
damage the edge of the fabric. Be sure to follow the installation
instructions carefully to ensure correct and balanced operation.

and particle emissions for use indoors.
Color Coordinated Head Rail
The Shangri-La fabrics have the passed GREENGUARD Indoor Air
Quality Certified® certification program for low emitting interior
building materials, furnishings, and finish systems:
Hold Down Brackets: Shangri-La hold down brackets are made of
a clear plastic which fit into holes in the endcap of the bottom rail.
Flame Resistance
Extension Brackets
Extension or “L” brackets are available to project the back of the
shade from the mounting surface. Those shading with metal roller
system, it will project 2½". The extension brackets for UltraSleek,
Deluxe and Color Coordinated Aluminum Head Rail project it
4¼".
Shangri-La fabric may be processed with a topical treatment to
resist flames and adhere to strict flammability codes. For more

UV Protection
Ultraviolet light, entering the home as sunlight, damages
furnishings. In time it fades wood floors, furniture, upholstery,
draperies, carpeting and artwork. Prolonged exposure to sunlight
causes natural, undyed fabrics to turn yellow, weakening their
fibers and making them look old and worn prematurely.
Spacer Blocks

Spacer blocks project the shading /8" from the mounting surface.
Use spacer blocks to obtain clearance when obstructions, such as
window cranks or door handles, obstruct the movement of the
shading.
The right window covering can be very effective in blocking
ultraviolet rays. Such effectiveness is measured in terms of a “% UV
blockage” rating. The higher the rating, the greater the UV
protection.

Cleaning and Care
Shangri-La is a window shading of unique beauty and
performance for the finishing touch to a beautiful window
and room.
•
Horizontal fabric vanes float between two layers of soft,
knitted fabric sheers, to soften your view outside with a
choice of fabrics.
The soft, delicate feel of the Shangri-La fabric belies the durability
of the material. Shangri-La is made from a sturdy, knitted polyester
fabric which can be feather dusted or vacuumed at a low setting.
Spots or stains can be lightly rubbed clean with a damp sponge
and mild soap. To avoid discoloration of the material, we
recommend against the use of chemical cleaners.
•
Shangri-La is available to widths of 114" and drops to 132"
to provide visual elegance to the widest of windows.
•
Shangri-La is available in 2-inch and 3-inch vane widths in
both light filtering and room darkening fabrics.
•
Precautions should be taken to reduce exposure to harsh
environmental elements, such as salt air. Continuous exposure to
salt air through open windows and doors will accelerate fabric
deterioration over time.
Important: Do not clean the fabric using electrostatic wipes such as
Swiffer® or Pledge Grab-It®.
Shangri-La's 3-inch vane fabrics provide greater view
through with our most popular colors.
Shangri-La fabric may also be ultrasonically cleaned.

entangled in window coverings cords. To reduce
the risk of accidents, all cords must be kept out of
the reach of children.

Vane Closure Gap
The carrier clip comes attached to the vane insert on Stardust
vanes. The vane installation and removal from the carrier stem
becomes effortless. The clip prevents the vane from unintentional
detachment from the carriers for improved durability.
When Stardust vanes are in the closed position, they always
overlap but they may not always touch. The vane closure gap is
the maximum distance between closed overlapping vanes. The
vane closure gap is up to ½".

Color Direction
Stardust Soft Sheer Verticals feature vanes that are colored on one
side and white on the other. The color may face to the right or left
when the vanes are open or partially rotated. When ordering,
please specify the color direction. Color left vanes are standard
with Stardust.
Cord and Chain Information
The Stardust track system uses a cord and chain
combination for vane rotation and traversing.
This easy-to-use combination opens and closes
the vertical, along with providing smooth vane
rotation. The cord, chain and cord tensioner are
white.

The chain rotates the vanes effortlessly and is supplied
with chain tassels.
The traverse cord allows the vanes to move to and from the
stacked position. The traverse cord is fitted with a cord
tensioner device.
The standard traverse cord length with the tensioner will
equal the height of the blind and is fully adjustable.
The standard rotation chain length is 2/3 the height of the
blind and is fully adjustable.
Custom length drops are available on both the traverse
cord and rotation chain. Please specify the length in inches
when ordering. The minimum chain length is 12".

The rotation chain and traverse cord may be placed on either side
for a split or side stack shadings. The controls must be placed on
the same side and cannot be split. The standard side stack cord
and chain position is on the stack side. For split stack applications,
the track system is symmetrical, allowing for easy installation and
reversibility.

Stardust vanes rotate and traverse to the side, providing a full
range of light control and privacy. Through the use of a cord and
chain combination, Stardust vanes can be rotated into the
following positions:
• Vanes Stacked: The vanes and sheers are pulled to the side
to provide a clear, unobstructed view. Vanes should be
rotated to the open position before being pulled closed and
stacked. (Figure H) For information on Stack Back, see pages
23-24.
• Vanes Open: Light is softly diffused when the vanes are
open and sheer fabric is drawn.
• Vanes Slightly Rotated: Enjoy a partially private view and
variable degrees of light control when the vanes are slightly
rotated. (Figure I)
• Vanes Closed: Enjoy privacy and light control when the
vanes are rotated fully closed. When closed, a neutral color
is presented to the exterior, with the colored portion of the
vane to the interior. (Figure J)
When outside mounted, Stardust vanes rotate in both clockwise
and counter clockwise directions. When installed with an inside
mount, Stardust vanes will rotate fully in one direction (colored
side into the room) but cannot fully rotate in the opposite direction.

Stardust Fascia Specifications

Fascia rods add visual impact to the top of your Stardust Soft
Sheer Vertical. A fascia rod is an alternative wood valance style,
covering the Stardust head rail and giving it the look of a
traditional drapery rod. A fascia rod replaces the standard
valance when ordered.

Fascia Rod: All fascia rods are custom made to your exact
ordered dimensions. Make sure to adjust the fascia size to
accommodate your specific application. Use guidelines below
to determine proper ordering size.

Inside Mount: Order the fascia rod /8" less than the ordered
width of the vertical sheer.
Please Note: Fascias for inside mounts cannot
accommodate finials or returns.

Celestial sheer fabric is available at $36 per linear yard.
Galaxy, Flora and Nova sheer fabrics are available at $47
per linear yard.
Celestial, Galaxy and Flora fabrics are 60" wide and Nova
fabric is 54" wide. All fabrics are available up to 50 yards
per cut.
The minimum order is 3 yards, with half-yard increments
thereafter.
Stacking Design
Stardust Stack Back
Stardust Soft Sheer Verticals are available in side or split stack
designs. Either design may be mounted inside or outside of the
window opening. The rotation chain and traverse cord must be
placed on the same side and cannot be split.
For a window or door opening to be fully uncovered when an
outside mounted blind is drawn open, you must take into account
the width of the vanes stack(s) called a Stack Back. These charts
(found on page 24) can be also used to align the blind with
moldings or other design features.

Side stacks may draw open to the left or right side. The
controls may be placed on the same side of the stack or the
opposite side. Controls cannot be split. (Figure S)
Split stack shadings draw open to both sides equally.
Controls may be placed on either side. (Figure T)
You can determine the Stack Back using the Stack Back charts by
following these four steps:
Measure the desired uncovered width, rounding the

measurement down to the nearest /8". Determine which
chart to use - side or spilt stack. With side stack units,
include in the measurement the desired amount of overlap
on the side opposite the fabric stack. We recommend a 4"
overlap. (Figure S and Figure T)

Locate your measurement from Step 1 in the “Uncovered
Width” column on the side stack or split stack charts. The
“Uncovered
Width”
measurements
include
all
measurements up to the measurement listed on the chart.
For example, if your side stack width is 81", locate the 82½"
measurement on the side stack chart.

Follow the line across to find the correct “Ordered Width”
for that range.

After determining the correct width to order, confirm that
there is enough room to outside mount the vertical at that
width.
Note on Stacking
When Stardust Verticals are in the stacked position the vanes may
flare slightly. This is considered normal and does not constitute a
failure in workmanship or materials. The possible flare has been
shown through case study not to detract from the beauty of the
product.

• Use a steel tape to measure across the width of your
window opening in three different places - top, middle and
bottom. Provide the smallest of the three measurements to
Comfortex. Be exact. The factory will make the blind ¾"
narrower to accommodate for the bracket.
• Measure the length of the window opening from the
two places. Use the smallest of these two measurements.
The factory will make a ½" deduction for operating
clearance.

• Use a steel tape to measure the exact height and width of
the area to be covered. Comfortex recommends 4" overlap
on each side to minimize potential light gaps. To measure
the width for a vertical that fully uncovers the opening
when drawn back, see page 24. Also see page 23 for
information on the stack back chart found on page 24.
• When the fabric does not hang to the floor, a minimum 4"
overlap is recommended below the bottom of the opening.
When the fabric hangs to the floor, Comfortex recommends
that you allow for a ½" bottom clearance. Please deduct
before ordering.
• Stardust is mounted using a bracket that can be extended to
project the shading beyond obstacles. By adjusting a screw
and wing nut, the bracket can be easily adjusted. Fully

extended, the bracket measures 8 /16". (See Figure X)

Spills and stains can be lightly blotted with a cloth or damp
sponge. More difficult stains may require gentle washing in water
with mild soap. For this, remove the vane from the window.
Remove the vane insert and submerge, soak and rub lightly. Lay
flat or place back in the window to dry. Stardust’s sheers and
vanes can be ironed if they become wrinkled. Remove the vane
from the window and then remove the insert from the vane. Iron
the sheer fabric at a level 3 or “polyester” setting on a household
iron. Iron the vane at a level 2 or “silk” setting. Replace the vane
insert and replace the vane in the window.
Stardust sheers may be steamed. The head of the steam machine
may be in contact with the sheer for up to three minutes.
Stardust Soft Sheer Verticals can be ultrasonically cleaned.

Movable Stack

way in order to wash
windows. Simply draw
the vanes completely
closed and gently push
the small block on the
end retainer up and slide
the end carrier in the
opposite direction that

carrier clips will move
freely within the track,
allowing the vane stack
to be moved to the
opposite end. When
finished, simply slide the end carrier back and snap it into the end
retainer.

Shangri-La Warranty Information
Our policies are designed to provide a guide for doing business
with Comfortex. Our first priority and number one policy is to
provide the highest level of service and total satisfaction.
Shangri-La Fabric:
Knitted fabric may experience minor weave variations due to heat,
humidity and other room conditions. These variations can result in
light bowing, puckering and dimpling of the Shangri-La material.
This is considered normal and does not constitute a failure in either
workmanship or materials. The possible variations are minor and
have been shown through case study not to detract from the
beauty of the product.
Freight
Comfortex will ship all orders for fabricated shades or blinds
freight free via UPS, FedEx Ground or other similar method within
the continental United States*.
Warranty Information Regarding the Polyester Cord on
Shangri-La Window Shadings with Deluxe and Color
Coordinated Aluminum Hardware
A $3.75 per unit transportation surcharge will be added to all
fabricated product orders, within the continental United States,
including shades/blinds, vane packs, individual vanes, tracks,
valance and cut yardage orders. In addition, a $40.00
Common Carrier surcharge** will be added for all orders shipped
within the continental United States, that include shades or blinds
with widths of 98" or more and are required to ship by motor
freight. Exception: verticals with lengths of 84" or more, and
roman shades with widths of 94" or more are required to ship by
motor freight.
the Deluxe or Color Coordinated Aluminum Head Rail is raised
above 24" in the reverse roll mode, there is a possibility of the
fabric rubbing on the head rail. Comfortex reserves the right NOT
to warrant wear and tear of fabric if damaged by roll-up in excess

Hawaii: Shipments to the Hawaiian island of Oahu will incur a
freight charge of $57.00 per order, plus $3.75 per unit. All other
Hawaiian islands will incur an $88.00 per order freight charge,

Alaska: Shipments to Alaska will incur a $6.00 per unit
transportation surcharge.

All Comfortex products are designed and tested to perform as
intended within established, published parameters. Requests for
“custom fabrication" of products outside of our published
specifications may be considered, but are at the discretion of the
Comfortex Technical Services department. Restrictions and
additional charges apply.

Shangri-La and Stardust Shadings
Warranty Information
Comfortex warrants that its window treatments will be free from
defects in materials and workmanship for as long as the original
residential purchaser owns the product, provided that the product
was installed properly and in accordance with the installation
instructions. The limited lifetime warranty is extended to the
original residential purchaser only, in the original window for
which it was installed.
The warranty does not include any conditions or damages
resulting from accidents, alterations, misuse, abuse,
misapplication, improper handling, installation, repairs,
operation, cleaning, exposure to any and all natural and
manufactured excessive heat sources. (Excessive heat sources
include, but not limited to; magnification of sun light through
cubes of glass, heaters of any kind, ovens, candles, lighting
fixtures, etc.) This warranty does not cover variation in color, grain,
or texture in natural wood products nor excessive warping of wood
slats in high humidity areas. Loss of pleating is not covered if the
product is not being cycled (held in the raised position a portion
of the time). Normal wear and tear is not covered.
All moving parts, such as cords, will eventually wear out and
fabric may fray. Comfortex considers these things as normal wear
and tear and will carry a three year limited warranty.
This limited warranty does not cover transportation costs to and
from the retailer, costs of removal, re-measure, or reinstallation of
product, or any incidental or consequential damages.
If a Comfortex product is found to be defective in materials or
workmanship, we will, at our discretion, repair, replace or refund
the cost of a product which fails to conform to this limited
warranty. Colors vary from lot to lot and may not exactly match
sample swatch, sample book, or previous purchases.
Discontinued components or color selections will be replaced with
the closest equivalent current product. This shall be your sole
remedy under this limited warranty.
To obtain service, contact the dealer from whom you purchased
the product.
General Information
This warranty is exclusive and in lieu of all other obligations,
liabilities or warranties. In no event shall Comfortex or its licensed
fabricators or distributors be liable for incidental or consequential
damages, or for any other damage, loss or expense, cost or fee
associated with such damage. In some states, exclusions for
incidental or consequential damages are not allowable.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also
have other rights, which vary from state to state. Policy is subject
to change without notice.
This limited warranty is exclusive of commercial use. Contact
Comfortex Technical Service for more information. No agent,
representative, dealer or unauthorized employee has the authority
to increase or alter the obligation of this warranty.

The factory will fabricate your Shangri-La DoorStyles Shading to the
exact length ordered when the vanes are in the open (or view
through) position. When the vanes are tilted to the closed position,
the shading will become 13/4" longer. When closed on an inside
mount or when used with hold down brackets, a slight puckering
may occur.
Standard Shadings
Comfortex will fabricate your window shading to the exact length ordered +/- 3/8" when the
vanes are in the open or view-through position. However, because the vanes rotate when
closing, the shading will become 3/8" longer in the closed position. If closed and not raised, a
slight puckering can occur on the lower most sheer section.

Shipping Charges - Comfortex will ship all orders for fabricated shades freight free via UPS, FedEx Ground or other similar method within the continental United States. Boxed
shades, track or vanes lengths over 84" or do not meet the size and weight requirements of UPS or FedEx Ground are required to ship by motor freight. A $40.00 Common Carrier
surcharge will be added for all orders shipped within the continental United States which required to ship by motor freight. A per unit transportation surcharge will be added to all

Stardust Fascias are an upgrade option and are not sold separately.
The width of the Fascia rod will measure exactly what is ordered. For an IB mount,
order the Fascia rod 1/8" less than the ordered width. For an OB mount, add at least 1"
to the ordered width. See the Sheer Solutions Price List for complete ordering and
measuring instructions.
End styles are not available on IB and Side Mounts.
When ordering custom returns, add at least 2½" to the ordered width. Standard
Returns of 45/8" will be provided unless a custom return size is given.

* An Opposite Stack is a Side Stack with the vane controls located on the opposite side of the vane stack. ** The maximum uncovered width for a Side Stack is 1409/16". The maximum uncovered width for
a Split Stack is 137¼". *** The minimum lengths of the traverse cord and the vane rotation cord is 12". **** Returns can be cut as small as 25/8". + This refers to the side of the vane the color appears
