Dear Believers in Real Food and Real Education,
Thank you for your interest in the Nutritional Therapy Practitioner Program (NTP), Nutritional
Therapy Consultant Program (NTC), and Functional Assessment Development Program (FAD).
The Nutritional Therapy Association, Inc. (NTA) is an independent vocational school based in
Olympia, Washington, providing blended online and in-person training in holistic nutrition.
Since the first NTP class in 2001, the NTA has taught thousands of students around the world,
changing the lives and health of countless more individuals. Graduates of our programs have
gone on to open their own practices, work alongside other medical professionals, act as instore nutritionists, run corporate wellness programs, teach online and in-person classes, launch
careers as nationally recognized thought leaders, publish best-selling books, release popular
podcasts, and improve their overall health, and that of their families, friends, and communities.
Our training programs offer a healthy, balanced, whole-food alternative to the processed, lowfat, grain-based dogma of the “food pyramid”, an outdated paradigm that has contributed to
many of the rampant health woes plaguing modern societies.
The NTA equips graduates with unique tools for assessing and addressing nutritional
deficiencies and imbalances in the body. Instead of resorting to pharmaceutical drugs
and surgery, NTA graduates help clients reclaim their health through a step-by-step,
foundational approach that emphasizes nutrient-dense, properly prepared foods and targeted
supplementation as required.
The NTA philosophy is based on three primary foundations:
• The teachings of Dr. Weston A. Price and Dr. Francis M. Pottenger Jr., two nutrition pioneers
who researched the connection between improper nutrition and physical degeneration. Both
observed rapid declines in health when previously healthy populations gave up traditional diets
and began consuming modern, processed, nutrient-poor diets.
• A commitment to bioindividuality. Every individual has a specific genetic, ancestral,
and geographical makeup that determines their our unique nutritional needs. Many
nutrition paradigms fail because they take a “one-size fits all” approach that ignores
bioindividuality.
• The use of evaluative measurements to identify specific nutritional deficiencies and
imbalances in the body. The NTA’s unique Nutritional Assessment Questionnaire and Functional
Evaluation techniques offer practitioners three significant advantages: 1) Identifying and
quantifying weaknesses throughout the body, 2) Enabling individualized nutrition, supplement,
and lifestyle protocols necessary to restore vibrant health, and 3) Allowing long-term
documentation of changes in the body’s systems, demonstrating to clients the effectiveness of diet
and lifestyle interventions and increasing commitment to protocols.
NTA is licensed under Chapter 28C.10 RCW. Inquiries or complaints may be made to the Workforce Training
and Education Coordinating Board, 128 10th Avenue SW, PO Box 43105, Olympia, Washington 98504-3105,
(360) 709-4600. Student to teacher ratio 40:1. Classes average at 40 students. The school will keep student
educational records for a minimum of 50 years from the date of each student’s enrollment or until the school ceases
to be licensed under this chapter, whichever comes first.

Our Instructors
Rachel Alm, NTP, graduated from the NTP program in 2008 and
immediately put her new knowledge into practice. A former social
worker, Rachel quickly realized how much her nutrition training
strengthened her work with families and began building programs
around healthy living and food production in the public school
system. She now owns Spring of Wellness, a private practice in Chelan,
Washington, where she specializes in family health, digestive disorders,
chronic disease, and inflammatory conditions. She is trained in Chronic
Disease Self Management and Motivational Interviewing principles, and
uses these skills to guide her clients to achieve greater health through
reasonable, sustainable change.
As a member of the North Central Washington Integrative Health
Network, Rachel sees nutrition as a way to bridge the gap between
wellness modalities and strongly believes in the power of collaborative
care, built on a foundation of a whole foods diet. She is passionate about
increasing access to nutrition education for the medically under-served,
and since becoming an NTP, has been actively involved in free clinic
development and health education services to low-income patients in her
community.
Caroline Barringer, NTP, CHFS, BRP, CGP is a certified Nutritional
Therapy Practitioner, Master Certified Healing Foods Specialist,
Birth Renaissance Practitioner, Certified GAPS™ Practitioner, author,
international lecturer, Weston A. Price Chapter Leader in New York,
former CEO of Immunitrition, Inc.®, and current Founder and CEO of
Freeway Foodies, Inc.®. She is also the creator of the “Certified Healing
Foods Specialist (CHFS)” Training Program, a food-intensive course taught
nationwide that focuses on properly prepared, whole food cuisine and
probiotic nutrition.
Caroline currently resides in New York State, and has been in clinical
practice since 2001, specializing in Preconception Preparation through
therapeutic nutritional support and gentle detoxification protocols using
the principals from her newest training course, “Birth Renaissance”.
Her success rate is nearly 80 percent in helping couples (local and long
distance) to conceive.
Caroline strongly believes in the NTA’s “Foundations and Priority” based,
bioindividual, functional approach to nutrition. She is committed to
educating professionals and students alike, empowering them to safely
and effectively transition their clients from a state of functional weakness
to optimal health through Nutritional Therapy.

Dana Brown, PhD, MS, NTP, is the CEO of Wind Feather Wellness,
LLC, and founder of the “What D.I.E.T.” (What Do I Eat Today™) weight
management program. She graduated from the Nutritional Therapy
Practitioner program in 2008, adding nutrition to her active practice
as a Wholistic Master Kinesiologist®. She holds a PhD in Naturopathic
Philosophy, an MS in Healing Arts, and certification in Functional
Medicine. She is also a student of Ben Lynch, ND’s MTHFR genomic
testing training, and Dr. Walter Schmidt’s Quintessential Applications
program. She has devoted many hours to research with the Yale School of
Nursing as lead interventionist on a clinical trial involving female cancer
recovery with nutrition and exercise. She continues to lecture and teach
on the power of properly prepared, nutrient-dense food choices.
Currently a resident of Connecticut, Dana’s clinical practice began in
New Mexico in 2002. She works with young families to improve health
through nutrition via education and evaluation. She believes that
integrating our genetics, our environment, and the impact on enzyme
activity is the key to uncovering the nutrient deficiencies in our modern
world. A consummate student and researcher, Dana strives to put the
pieces together using the powerful functional evaluation tool taught by
the NTA, with a focus on foundational integrity.
Cathy Eason, BS, NTP, LMT, CGP, is a certified Nutritional Therapy
Practitioner, Licensed Massage Therapist, and public lecturer with a
private practice in Portland, Oregon. She has over 15 years of clinical
experience providing holistic nutrition counseling, therapeutic bodywork,
exercise program development, and lifestyle education to a wide range
of clients. As owner and primary practitioner of Abundant Health
Nutritional Therapy, Cathy enjoys helping individuals and families obtain
optimal health by combining Nutritional Therapy assessment techniques
with her training in physical therapy and exercise protocols. Currently a
competitive recreational athlete and formerly a collegiate All-American,
Cathy also consults professional athletes from a variety of sports for
injury prevention and improved performance. She loves the study of the
human body both inside and out, and holds dual degrees from Portland
State University in Exercise Science & Physiology and General Science.
In teaching others, Cathy hopes to bring that love of the human body to
her students as they explore the intricate workings of our amazing bodies
and how simple holistic nutrition concepts can really help each of us
thrive. She is passionate about using a whole food diet to heal the body
from within, and she strives to educate other health care practitioners,
families, and communities about how nutritious food choices contribute
to a healthy life. Cathy is dedicated to the NTA’s mission of providing
holistic nutrition education to health professionals and individuals
alike as a path toward optimal health and great success for our future
generations.

Anne Fischer-Silva, NTP, CNT, LE, RWS is a Restorative Wellness
Specialist and certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. She is the owner
of A New Leaf Nutrition, a private practice located in Petaluma, California.
Anne has a successful practice that serves clients throughout the United
States as well as internationally. She received certification in Functional
Nutrition from the Advanced Integrated Medical Institute in Washington,
D.C. in 2000. Anne was an integral part of developing a successful
holistic practice model before entering private practice, helping develop
curriculum for the Nutritional Therapy Association.
Over the last fourteen years, she has taught nutrition courses in
Washington, Hawaii, and California, hosted “Health-Wise” (a weekly
radio show), written articles for numerous health publications, lectured
nationally on a variety of health topics, and held traditional food cooking
classes. Anne is also a former chapter leader for the Sonoma County
Weston A. Price Organization. She is passionate about teaching, cooking
nutrient dense foods, her family, and connection around the table. She is
excited to share her successful practice model with other practitioners
through her educational program, Restorative Wellness Solutions. Her
vision is to ultimately change the prevailing paradigm of what constitutes
health and how that is achieved.
Erin Foushee, NTP, is the founder and owner of Fortis Wellness, LLC,
a company dedicated to strengthening individuals and companies in
the greater Washington D.C. area through preventative nutrition and
fitness programs. Erin is also the developer of the Fortis Corporate
Wellness Program, which provides a tried and true business model and
workshop materials for NTPs to market, sell, and service the program to
companies in their area of the country.
Erin has experience with numerous facets of the wellness field and has
enjoyed working with a variety of clients, including nationally ranked
athletes, business people, senior citizens, and children.
Her passion and mission is to educate corporate America and the next
generations of NTPs on the power of preventative wellness.

Gray L. Graham, BA, NTP, is the lead author of Pottenger’s Prophecy:
How Food Resets Genes for Wellness or Illness, an international consultant
in the field of clinical nutrition, and the founder of the Nutritional
Therapy Association. Since Gray launched the Nutritional Therapy
Practitioner Training Program in 2001, the NTA has certified over 2,400
Nutritional Therapy Practitioners around the world.
In addition to training NTPs, Gray has taught hundreds of seminars
on nutritional therapy to thousands of doctors and other healthcare
practitioners over the past twenty-five years, .
Gray received his Bachelor of Arts with an emphasis on Nutrition and
Natural Health from Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. He
was an Adjunct Professor at South Puget Sound Community College for
four years, where he originally developed and taught the NTP Training
Program.
Janelle JohnsonGrove, NTP, MSEd, is a certified Nutritional Therapy
Practitioner and professional educator who received her Masters
in Education from the University of Pennsylvania. Janelle combines
her passion for nutrition with her knowledge of effective educational
practices to the NTA program and classroom.
Janelle is also the owner and founder of SageFire Wellness, a nutrition
consulting practice based in Cincinnati, Ohio. To complement and
deepen her wellness work with individuals, Janelle studied with the
Institute for the Psychology of Eating. Along with her functional and
educational approach, she integrates the mind-body connection to help
clients improve their relationship with food and overcome mental and
emotional roadblocks to optimal nutritional practices.
Janelle’s knowledge and passion for nutrition, education, and the
emotional dynamics surrounding food and food choices infuse her work
with professionals, students, and clients.

Victoria LaFont, NTP, CGP, is a certified Nutritional Therapy
Practitioner and certified GAPS Practitioner. For over a decade, she
has explored varied diets and healing modalities, ranging from raw
veganism to the Primal Diet. Her interest in nutrition stemmed from
a strong desire to heal lifelong health problems without continued
reliance on prescription drugs.
In 2006, Victoria graduated magna cum laude from Murray State
University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and an emphasis in medical
anthropology and professional writing.
Her background in medical anthropology, paired with the teachings of
the Weston A. Price Foundation, the Nutritional Therapy Association,
and Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride, sparked her deep interest in the
varied cultural practices around the world and the link between chronic
illness, degenerative disease, and dietary habits.
Victoria firmly believes that a properly prepared, whole food, nutrientdense diet is one of the primary keys to optimal health.
Dusty Lapp, BA, NTP, is the owner of Best Life Nutritional Therapy LLC
in Twin Falls, Idaho, where he lives with his wife and three daughters.
After a very eventful 16-year career as a professional bullfighter in the
PBR and PRCA, he retired from fighting bulls to dedicate more time
to his family and Nutritional Therapy practice. In 2015, Dusty was
privileged to be part of the instructor team that launched NTA Australia.
Dusty utilizes his skills as a certified Couple and Core Communication
Instructor to build lasting relationships with his clients and students,
and hopes to help his students do the same. His compassion for people,
coupled with his conviction to teach others how nutritional therapy can
change their lives, creates a fertile learning environment that is relaxed
and enjoyable.
Dusty loves helping students realize their full potential by helping
them develop their knowledge and skills. He believes that the unique
attributes each student possesses are exactly what they need to become
successful Nutritional Therapy Practitioners.

DeAnn Laube, BS, NTP, LMP, PBP, is a certified Nutritional Therapy
Practitioner, Licensed Massage Practitioner, Bowenwork Practitioner,
and Natural Food Chef. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from
Bastyr University, and she is the owner of Vibrant Health Nutrition and
Bowenwork, a private practice in Seattle, Washington. In her practice,
DeAnn uses a combination of therapeutic nutritional support, herbal
medicine, bodywork, and holistic cooking classes to help her clients
reclaim their health from the inside out. As an herbalist and passionate
wild forager, DeAnn has a vast knowledge of plants, herbs, and nutrientdense wild foods. She incorporates this passion and knowledge in her
private practice as well as in her teaching.
DeAnn takes a holistic approach to nutrition and believes that food is
truly our best medicine. She is reminded daily of how important it is
to nourish our body, mind, and spirit with real, whole foods. DeAnn
believes that food can be medicinal, while also being a wonderful source
of joy, pleasure, and community. Nutrition has played a transformative
role in enabling her to live a more vibrant, healthy life, and she is
passionate about empowering future generations of NTPs to find true
health and transformational healing through nutrition.
Janine Martin Horst, NTP, CGP, is a certified Nutritional Therapy
Practitioner, a certified GAPS Practitioner, and a Nutritional Balancing
and Hair Mineral Analysis Practitioner. After graduating from the
NTA Portland class in 2010, she founded Taproot Wellness, a private
nutritional therapy practice in Salem, Oregon. Janine specializes
in digestive disorders, detoxification, and nutritional support for
autoimmune disorders, and is passionate about the transformative
powers of good food and targeted nutrient therapy to address all
manner of health challenges.
As an instructor, Janine hopes to impart both the science and the
magic of nutrition to her students, helping them tap in to the innate
intelligence of the human body. Janine strongly believes in NTA’s
foundational approach to health, combining a solid understanding
of ancestral nutrition, bioindividuality, and a whole-body approach
to healing. The NTA classroom is one of her favorite places to be, and
witnessing the many “light bulb moments” that take place each year has
been one of the most fun and powerful experiences of her life. She is
honored to be part of each student’s journey and to welcome them into
NTA’s healing community.

Jennifer Pecot, BS, NTP, CHFS, CGP is a certified Nutritional Therapy
Practitioner, Master Certified Healing Foods Specialist, Certified GAPS
Practitioner, AFAA Certified Personal Trainer, licensed Boot Camp
Challenge Instructor, health lecturer, and the owner of Body Divine
Wellness, a private practice based in Orlando, Florida. Jennifer is also
co-creator of the Certified Healing Foods Specialist (CHFS) Training
Program, a four-day intensive training course taught nationwide
that focuses on properly prepared, whole food cuisine and probiotic
nutrition. Her wellness programs combine the techniques of Nutritional
Therapy, exercise programming, stress management, and life skills
coaching.
Jennifer has been a long-term proponent of living a healthy lifestyle.
After witnessing a series of health crises among friends and family
members, she was inspired to explore natural methods of disease
prevention and treatment. Determined to make a difference, she has
devoted her time to educating others on the importance of taking
ownership of their health and well-being. Her goal is to encourage a
paradigm shift from diagnosis and treatment to disease prevention
and healthy living. Jennifer believes that optimal health requires the
cultivation of knowledge and a holistic approach in which mind, body,
and spirit are all nurtured and strengthened.
John Tjenos, LMT, NTP, has been in a private clinical practice in New
York City and Seattle since 1991. His multi-disciplined approach reflects
his view that for healing to be sustained, it must occur on multiple levels
of our being: structural, biochemical, electromagnetic, and emotional.
John has integrated Nutritional Therapy with the structural bodywork
of Aston Patterning, the Autonomic Reflex Technique pioneered by Dr.
Dietrich Klinghardt, and the applied kinesiology methods developed
by Dr. George Goodheart. He has also been a professional cook and
restaurant owner, bringing a unique food-based point of view to
nutritional therapy.
John strongly believes that nutrition should be at the foundation of all
health care disciplines, including medicine, psychotherapy, skin care,
dentistry, acupuncture, and massage. He is passionate about sharing
the healing power of nutrition with others, especially in addressing
chronic health conditions and in educating parents about the crucial
role nutrition plays in their child’s physical, mental, and emotional
development.
Beyond providing education in nutritional therapy, John has observed
that NTA courses also represent a transformative healing experience for
students. He believes that the NTP program uniquely prepares students
to offer the kind of guidance about food and nutrition that is currently
lacking in our society, to the detriment of our collective health.

Joanell Tylor, NTP, is a Restorative Wellness Specialist, a certified
Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, herbalist, nutritional microscopist,

Nutritional Therapy Practitioner Program
The Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) Program couples the flexibility of self-paced,
online study with the benefits of instructor-led conference calls and three in-person
workshops. Students will receive access to comprehensive learning materials, reference
documents, and video and audio lectures through NTTConnect, the NTA’s online learning

The NTP curriculum focuses on the following components:
• The Big Ideas. These short, concise overviews help solidify key concepts in each module and
help graduates quickly educate clients.
• Anatomy & Physiology. Learning key body structures and functions allows students to

professionals using standard terminology.
• Dietary Considerations & Supplemental Support. Students learn a variety of dietary

of the digestive system by identifying needs for nutritional support, and how to assess dietary
distress using evaluative techniques and interview skills.
Module 5: Blood Sugar Regulation – North Americans consume an average of 150 to 170
pounds of refined sugar each year, a major factor in today’s epidemics of diabetes and obesity.
The excessive consumption of carbohydrates and refined sugar is not only a disturbance to the
cardiovascular system, but also to the entire endocrine system. Students will learn to assess blood
sugar dysregulation and identify dietary stressors through the functional evaluation, Nutritional
Assessment Questionnaire (NAQ), and food journal, and how to restore balance through nutritional
therapy.
Module 6: Essential Fatty Acid Balance – This module highlights the importance of fatty acids
in the diet and the necessity of essential fatty acid balance to assess musculoskeletal, endocrine,
cardiovascular, and immune problems. Students will learn evaluative techniques to determine what
fatty acids are needed to help restore balance in each individual client.
Module 7: Mineral Balance – Module 7 highlights the necessity of mineral balance as it relates to
pH, proper nerve conduction, muscle function, and tissue growth. Since stress, dietary choices, and

functional evaluation techniques, and the NAQ to help identify and address mineral deficiencies.

cell production. Also, because dehydration is the most common nutritional deficiency among
North Americans, there is an emphasis on the importance of proper hydration and prevention of
dehydration.
Module 9: Endocrine System – Our endocrine system consists of complex relationships. Students
will learn to identify hormonal imbalances through addressing the foundations covered in earlier
modules, examining the dysfunction of endocrine glands as they directly relate to imbalances in
the foundations (diet, digestion, blood sugar regulation, mineral balance, and hydration). Students
will also learn concepts of endocrine individuality and acquire skills to assess each client effectively
though the functional evaluation and the Nutritional Assessment Questionnaire.
Module 10: Allergies and Immune Weaknesses – Chronic allergies are rapidly increasing
in today’s society, but there are ways to support the body and help reverse this trend through
nutritional therapy. The key to maintaining a healthy immune system is to remove the stressors
and strengthen the defenses. Techniques will be taught to identify root causes and support the
mechanisms of an effective immune response.
Module 11: The Cardiovascular System – 75 percent of North Americans will be diagnosed
with cardiovascular disease by the end of their lives. The focus of this module is to identify the
underlying causes of cardiovascular dysfunction and to help support the body through The
Foundations before pathology ever develops.
Module 12: Nutritional Detoxification – Detoxification happens continuously. It is the process of
cleaning, nourishing, and restoring the body from the inside out. Proper foundational support will

Module 13: Other Nutritional Considerations – In Module 13, students will learn the relationship
between foundational balance and successful weight loss programs, the nutritional components

Module 14: Business Basics – To be a successful Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, students need
general practice management skills, as well as clinical expertise. This module covers the basics of
running a nutritional counseling practice, legal issues, insurance, client management and office

Module 15: Bonus Topics – This module provides an introduction to academic research, sports
nutrition, botanical medicine, popular diets, fertility, probiotics, and enzymes.
Written and Practical Exams: Students are required to pass both written and practical midterm

ideal for healthcare practitioners who already use other modalities to evaluate the body,
those interested in working primarily with food, diet, and lifestyle recommendations,
and practitioners who will be working with distance clients via phone, email, and video
conferencing. The NTC program also affords students the flexibility of acquiring NTP
certification in two parts: one can first complete the NTC program and then later take a
FAD course to gain NTP certification. Students will receive the majority of their instruction

Functional Assessment Development (FAD)
Program
The Functional Assessment Development program consists of full instruction in NTA’s
Functional Evaluation process, as well as advanced clinical skills. Our Functional Evaluation
process allows graduates to evaluate nutritional status and the specific nutritional needs of
their clients. Upon completion of the FAD program, graduates with an existing “Nutritional
Therapy Consultant” (NTC) credential will be granted the designation “Nutritional Therapy
Practitioner” (NTP). The FAD program is also appropriate for NTP graduates that want to
refresh their Functional Evaluation skills. Students with a current NTP certification will be
granted 24 continuing education credits upon completion of the program.

Is your program accredited?
The Nutritional Therapy Association is a private vocational school in Washington State,
licensed by the Washington State Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board,
that trains practitioners to address nutrient deficiencies and body imbalances through
holistic nutrition. Our programs are not accredited by the Department of Education.
Does your program prepare you to sit for board exams?
The Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) Program and Nutritional Therapy Consultant
Program (NTC) are both recognized by the National Association of Nutritional Professionals
(NANP), and graduates of both programs can sit for NANP’s National Board Exam.
What are the prerequisites for the NTP & NTC program?
The only prerequisite for both the NTP and NTC program is a high school diploma. These
are not 4-year degree programs and are not a prerequisite for a r-year dietetics program.
Students must have access to high-speed Internet and be comfortable working in a
primarily online environment.
How long is the program and does it have to be completed consecutively?
All of our courses are approximately nine months in length and must be completed within
the scheduled time.
Would it be practical to take this course while working full time?
Many of our graduates completed the NTP or NTC course while working a full-time jobs.
However, students should budget at least 15-20 hours per week for studying, assignments,
and conference calls. We strongly recommend beginning the required reading before the
class starts.
Can I take the program even though I don’t know if I want to start a
business?
Yes, about 30 percent of our students take the training for personal interest, about 30
percent start their own practice, and the other 40 percent are health care practitioners who add this training to their existing knowledge or practice.

What kind of degree or certification will I receive when I complete one of
your programs?
Upon successful completion of the Nutritional Therapy Practitioner Program, a certification
of completion is awarded by the Nutritional Therapy Association granting permission to
use the designation of Nutritional Therapy Practitioner TM (NTP).
Upon successful completion of the Nutritional Therapy Consultant Program, a certification
of completion is awarded by the Nutritional Therapy Association granting permission to
use the designation of Nutritional Therapy Consultant TM (NTC). NTCs can continue their
education by successfully completing the Functional Assessment Development Program,
thereby granting permission to use the designation of Nutritional Therapy Practitioner TM
(NTP).
What types of positions are available for graduates of your programs?
NTA graduates find jobs in several fields. Some graduates combine their certificate with
existing licenses or certificates in alternative medicine. Many establish private practices
as nutritional consultants, while others work in a clinical setting with other like-minded
professionals. The NTA has also graduated numerous healthcare professionals such as
chiropractors, medical doctors, acupuncturists, registered nurses, and massage therapists.
Note that the NTP and NTC programs do not qualify you to work in a hospital or other
government regulated settings as a nutritionist.
Is this certification recognized by any state?
States vary in their requirements for certification and licensure for those providing
nutritional counseling and advice. The majority of states allow NTPs to establish their own
practice, but some states require additional licensure or working under the supervision
of a licensed practitioner. The Department of Health in your state should have complete
information on their individual requirements. You can also visit NutritionAdvocacy.org for
up-to-date information on the laws and regulations in your state.
Will I be able to bill insurance for my services?
Because the NTP and NTC programs offer certification not a licensure, you will not be able
to bill insurance for your services or supplementation unless you have other licensure that
allows you this privilege.
What role does diet play in your programs?
Diet is fundamental to the NTP and NTC programs. A cornerstone of our programs is the
belief that proper nutrition is built upon properly prepared, nutrient-dense foods. Though
we discuss targeted supplementation in our programs, especially relating to our Functional
Evaluation and Lingual-Neuro Testing techniques, our instructors emphasize the critical
importance of real, whole food as the primary source of nutrition.

Is the nutrition training based primarily on supplement use or can the
techniques be used with herbs and foods?
Our primary focus is on properly prepared, nutrient-dense foods. However, we do discuss
supplementation in our curriculum. Our Functional Evaluation techniques are most
commonly used with supplements and herbal remedies, but foods can be used as well.
What is included in the curriculum? What is required for certification?
The course curriculum includes anatomy and physiology, basic chemistry concepts, and
the science of food and its nutritional components. Students also learn how to identify and
address imbalances in the body and intervene with nutrition to improve overall health. In
order to become certified, you will need to complete all required reading, homework, book
reports, a community outreach project, outside client-practitioner folders, review audio
and video lecture content, attend required workshops, and pass a midterm and final exam
(a written exam for NTCs and both a written and practical exam for NTPs).
How are these nutrition programs different from other courses?
The NTP and NTC programs offer a holistic, whole food, nutrition-base approach to
addressing health problems and promoting wellness. We emphasize: 1) allegiance to the
teachings of such pioneering greats as Dr. Weston A. Price and Dr. Francis Pottenger, 2)
the belief that each person is biologically unique, and 3) that the body possesses innate
intelligence and defaults to health when given what it needs. Our programs offer a system
of evaluative measurements that help identify nutritional weaknesses in the body. The
Nutritional Assessment Questionnaire, combined with the Functional Evaluation and
Lingual-Neuro Testing method, provides a powerful way to assess a client’s biochemical
needs and make appropriate, personalized diet and lifestyle recommendations.
How much can a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner earn?
Salaries for NTPs and NTCs typically range from $50 to $150 per hour, depending on
location, experience, and other certifications or licenses.
Is there financing available?
The NTA has partnered with the Tulip Credit Union in Olympia, Washington to offer
Professional Development Loans for tuition and books. Loans carry 24 or 36-month terms,
with interest based on each applicant’s credit score. To obtain a loan application, email

Are there any scholarships available?
The NTA will notify prospective students via email when scholarships become available.
Scholarships are not given by the NTA directly.

Can I complete your programs from overseas?
Currently, the NTA offers training programs in the United States, Canada, and Australia.
Note that the NTC program requires in-person attendance at a three-day workshop, and
that the NTP program requires in-person attendance at three multi-day workshops.
Will you train me how to open my own business?
We discuss business basics in Module 14 and offer a variety of continuing education
opportunities related to business, marketing, etc. Some graduates go on to complete
additional training that provide specific training on running an efficient small business or
private practice.
What is the difference between a “Nutritional Therapy Practitioner”
(NTP) and a “Nutritional Therapy Consultant” (NTC)?
Fundamentally, an NTP and NTC are the same. They both employ foundation-based
nutritional recommendations, evaluate food journals, utilize our Nutritional Assessment
Questionnaire, and make dietary and supplemental recommendations. However, NTPs have
two additional diagnostic tools at their disposal: the Functional Evaluation and LingualNeuro Testing method, which allow practitioners to further tailor recommendations to each
client’s unique nutritional needs.
Do the NTP and NTC classes count as continuing education credits?
In some cases, continuing education credits can be applied to other certificates or licenses.
Inquires must be made to the institution that awarded the original license or certificate.
How many CEUs do I need to keep my certificate current after I graduate?
The NTA requires students to obtain 24 CEUs every two years to keep their NTP or NTC
certification current. At least 12 of the credits need to be directly related to nutrition, while
up to 12 can be related to business or other relevant non-nutrition topics that support your
practice.
How many CEUs does one receive per class?
One CEU credit is awarded per one hour spent in class.
