on Prohibition of Utilizing Industrial Design of Honda Motor Co., Ltd,
dated 24 September 2007
-Based upon the Prime Ministerial Decree on Patent, Petty Patent and Industrial Design No.
01/PM, Dated 07 January 2002
-Based upon the recommendation of Vice Governor of Vientiane Capital, dated September 28,
2007
-Based upon the Minutes on the Result of Monitoring-Inspection of industrial design infringement
of Honda Motor Co., Ltd, dated September 24, 2007
In the afternoon, 04 October 2007, at 2.00 P.M., the Science, Technology and Environment
Agency conducted an Official Assembly in official meeting room. The participants included the IP
Official Monitoring - Inspection Committee of Vientiane Capital, Head of General Affair from
Department of Intellectual Property, Standardization and Metrology, all Districts’ Officials, XXXX,
XXXX and XXXX and all dealers and distributors. Mr. Daopat Aloun the Director General of
STEO, Vientiane Capital, chaired the meeting and stated the objective of this meeting was to
discuss the Prohibition of Utilizing Industrial Design of Honda Motor Co., Ltd.
After the chairperson finished stating the objective of this meeting, the representative from
Department of Intellectual Property, Standardization and Metrology explained about the Prime
Ministerial Decree, Processing of Industrial Design Registration and Scope of the Right
Protection. In addition, the Official Notice No.1491/GNO.VTC, dated September 07, 2007 on
cessation of Trademark and Industrial Design Honda Wave 125i infringement of Honda Motor Co.,
Ltd and Similar Points of Industrial Design were notified and passed to the participants for
acknowledgement and to implement accordingly.
The outcomes of the meeting can be summarized as followings:
1. The above Motor Companies should prepare for legal action to obtain documents for business
operation, due to some of the factories not having a business license for operating the branches
in Vientiane Capital.
2.The above Motor Companies should declare the number of motorcycle and similar points of
Industrial Design to Wave 125i of Honda Motor Co., Ltd of Japan. (the details are attached) and
report to the Official Committee for acknowledgement. After that the Official Inspection
Committee will monitor and inspect and record as reference for implementation
The meeting is agreed and closed at 15.30, at the same day. Therefore, this minute has been
prepared to be the reference for further implementation.
