Hello, Team AZ!
In some ways it seems like 2012 just started yesterday; in other ways, it feels like a
lifetime! I’m sure many of the Chapter Officers also feel the same way this time of
year. Business is picking up and we’re all working really hard to help our clients and
customers. Thank you to all of you who volunteer your time with the Women’s
Council to encourage our REALTORS® and Affiliates to be the best in the industry
– without your commitment none of this becomes reality.
Your elections are completed and many of you are in the middle of your installations. Well, get ready to
Party with Pam! Elsewhere in this newsletter you will find the schedule of events, the agenda and
information on both the Continuing Education class AND a Sindy Ready evening Fundraiser. The
meetings start on Tuesday December 4th with a CE class on “Expect the Unexpected – Meth Houses
and More”. The 2012 Awards Luncheon begins at 1:00; if you feel you need a snack to get you through
– please feel free bring your own. In the afternoon will be the General Membership and the
Governing Board Meetings. You do not have to register for the entire conference to attend these
meetings. After these meetings will be a session for 2013 Presidents and President Elects. Then the
evening festivities begin with a benefit for Sindy Ready – the future National President! The next day is
Orientation sessions for leaders and some other sessions geared to all our members. BE SURE TO
REGISTER NO LATER THAN NOVEMBER 20TH FOR BOTH THE HOTEL AND THE
MEETINGS since there is a big price difference after that date.

It’s been my privilege and honor to serve as your State President in 2012. Thank you for your
hospitality when visiting your Chapters. It truly was the best part of the year. I plan to stay involved in
the Women’s Council and have the opportunity to serve as the 2013 Regional Vice President for
Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Nevada and Arizona. I wish the very best to our incoming 2013
Leadership Teams at the local and state levels.

Welcome to Pillar To Post -- The Home Of Home Inspection in the Northwest Valley.
For nearly 15 years, Arizona home buyers, sellers, new owners, and real estate agents have
trusted Pillar To Post for detailed home inspections. Our office concentrates on home inspections
in Glendale, Peoria, Surprise, El Mirage, Sun City, Sun City West, and Sun
City Grand and the surrounding communities, with prompt service
Valley-wide.
Are you on a tight deadline? Because of our relationship with Pillar To Post
offices across Arizona, we can get your inspection scheduled very quickly—often within 24 hours of your call!
Your detailed Pillar To Post inspection report will be printed on site, including color photos, and is also
available for delivery by email or web. All of our inspectors exceed the minimum state requirements for
Arizona home inspectors, and are licensed and insured. We encourage you to attend the inspection and let us
answer your home inspection questions on site.
Our fees are competitive. BEWARE that there are some home Inspection companies charging much less for
what they call home inspections. When the difference in quality service, training, experience, reliability, and
overall professionalism is considered, the Pillar To Post is always the real bargain.

We just enjoyed a fantastic Business Resource Meeting, with 73
professionals in attendance. Our City’s Superintendent of Schools talked about
diversity. She caused each of us to think about how each of us impacts one
another. Not only did we have a fantastic program, we gave a lucky Queen of
Hearts winner, Sylvia Clark $6,916. As I mentioned at the WCR summer
meetings, our Queen of Hearts deck was down to only a single card…What a
fantastic fundraiser. Of the $6,916; $717 was today’s participation split. We just
got 3 new members’ (2 REALTOR® and 1 Local Affiliate) applications today!
Tiffany Wilson our VP of membership, Judi Harris (founding member), Mary
Roberts (past LHWCR President) and I attended the Summer Meetings at the
Drury Inn. Of course our very own Vicki Lind was there too! A very well
organized couple of days. We began with the PMN Leadership class. THANK
YOU to all the chapters who sponsored the class. I thought it was a fun,
informative, well attended meeting.
We have plenty of great programs scheduled through the end of the year…thank
you to Suzannah Ballard and her committee. Our next fun activity is scheduled for
Friday August 17th at 5:30. This will be a fun bowling event that will include the
whole family. Interestingly enough, our 2011 WCR President Amber CheramyLyon asked to serve as Ways & Means Chair this year. She has done an amazing
job…Our members are enjoying the fun...fundraisers!

We are beginning to plan for 2013…Hilary Sosey, our 2012 President-Elect just
attended the WCR Leadership Academy in Chicago. She is so excited about
sharing what she learned. I remember last year when I returned…so much
information over such a short amount of time! I will say that this training is
invaluable for the position.

NEWS FROM PHOENIX
By: Jennifer Doyle, 2012 Phoenix Chapter President
As I look out over the room at our Business Resource Meetings I
always feel a sense of wonder that these people are our chapter
members and I am this year’s leader. It is an awesome
responsibility and soon I will hand it over to our 2013 Officers.

Becky Erickson-Membership Marketing
All of these people are very motivated and dedicated to WCR. I feel lucky to be
involved with them.
My biggest challenge of the year was replacing people on my governing board after
many members did not renew. Our chapters focus now is building membership and
retaining current members. I feel confident that the commitment our members have to
the chapter will result in building an even stronger chapter than we have at present.

Where has the year gone!!! The Prescott BRG had their last fund raiser of
the year on October 26th. Our Death by Chocolate and Shopping
Extravaganza was a success. We all over indulged in the chocolate and got
our Christmas shopping done early. Sherri Batten won the chocolate
cook-off with an outstanding cheesecake. The Wyndham Gardens did a great job of helping
us with our fund raising event.

NEWS FROM SCOTTSDALE
I can’t believe I am nearing the end of my term as Chapter President. It has been a
wonderful year so far and I’m thrilled by all the positive changes our chapter is
experiencing.
Leadership proved to be as rewarding for Carrie, my PE, as it was for me last year.
She returned with enthusiasm and increased desire to prepare for 2013 and her Presidency. The
nominating committee worked with Carrie & presented a wonderful slate of officers to our
Membership for our Sept. elections. Elected to the Scottsdale Chapter Governing Board are Sharicka
NuChurch, Secretary, Angelica Franco, Treasurer, & Kathleen Prokopow, President Elect. The Board
voted to go with the Membership Committee Beta Test in 2013, continuing practices already begun,
due to the resignation of our VP of Membership in May. The Board Confirmed Carrie’s nomination of
Don Pollard for Membership Chair….he will bring a lot of ideas & enthusiasm to the position.
To help the new Board create their Strategy for 2013, we held our 2nd Annual Strategic Planning
Session at our August Business Resource Meeting, which resulted in great Programming &
Recruitment ideas & confirming changes we’d made in 2012 were working. Adding to that, a
committee formed following an Affiliate Focus Group meeting last April, finalized a new Strategic
Partner Program to answer many of our Affiliate’s concerns & suggestions to help their membership
value. Four new Sponsorship Categories were created with the idea that we would promote greater
participation from our Sponsors and reduce the number of “in name only” members who pay their
dues & do not get involved. Our National Affiliate numbers should increase and competition among
different categories of Affiliates will be limited. This new program was presented to the membership
at our October meeting with positive response. We plan to roll out the program with the 2013
renewals.
We had our Annual Fashion Show Fundraiser on Oct. 18th which was a great success. John Little, the
community affairs director for the Scottsdale Area Association of Realtors & our own Bob Nachman
MC’d the event featuring REAL models from our industry & WCR, including Sindy Ready, Tricia
Lehane, Barbara Laskey, Paula Serven (2013 NAR Treasurer & Chapter member), Sandy Lunsford
(2011 Chapter President) Kathleen Prokopow (2013 PE) & Rebecca Grossman (CEO of SAAR &
Chapter Member) modeling REAL clothing from a local boutique. Our Silent Auction had over 40
wonderful items to choose from such as golf foursomes, gift baskets, & resort stays. Our gift card
raffle brought in over $800 in PROFIT, most of which came from sales that evening. 18 different
vendors sold items such as skin care products, clothing, jewelry, handbags & even cell phone pepper
spray attachments. Our designated Charity, the Sojourner Center (a battered women’s shelter) spoke
and brought many a tear to the over 175 attendees. A very successful event chaired by Shari Campos
& Lauri Wrigley!!!
I am looking forward to the Orlando NAR/WCR Convention and seeing our own Sindy Ready be
elected as Recording Secretary….continuing her journey towards National President. What an honor
to have her in our Chapter.
Our 2013 Governing Board will be installed at a Holiday Cocktail Party on 12/12/12 and I get to pass
the gavel on to Carrie McNichols with mixed feelings. She’ll do a wonderful job and I will obviously
remain involved. WCR will continue to be a passion of mine & I look forward to many years of local
& state involvement in my future.

NEWS FROM SUPERSTITION MOUNTAIN
We are a network of successful REALTORS® empowering women to
exercise their potential as entrepreneurs and industry leaders.
It seems only yesterday when I became President of the Superstition
Mountain Chapter of Women’s Council of Realtors. Several years
prior I never thought that I would be able to do such a calling. When the reality of this
calling and the enormity of its needs hit me, I sought out what I thought was a good
plan.
2012 our Board members did such a great job: Mary Jo Thomas-President Elect, Ceila
Maddox- V.P. of Membership, Stephanie Hicks- Treasurer, and Romy WattsSecretary. Many others served as chair, which they have stepped up to the plate and
has given many hours of service. Pam Cohan-Ways & Means, Victoria Schreiner &
Sharon Stover-Charity Committee, Kelly Rossi-Web Chair, Judy Warga-Reservations
Chair, Chris Bastian- Past President & Nominating Committee Chair. Many other
areas service was given—they are my strength-without them our chapter would not
exist. We retained/recruited our needed Realtor Members to sustain our Chapter.
Perhaps I approached it wrongly or maybe not? I gave job assignments before I knew
the talents available, some took the callings well & some didn’t. Upon reflection of this
happening I remembered a talk I heard about SNOWFLAKES. After some research I
came up with the following thoughts:
It has always been a great marvel of mine, at the wonderment and beauty the variety
of the snowflakes made. No two have ever been found to be alike.
This last sentence was what I understand our chapter was” individual snowflakes”
filled with talents and desire to make a difference. We are different and we are all
volunteers- like snow. What is a snow? Snow is when a sprinkle begins to fall from the
sky in freezing temperatures, and instead of water descending to the earth; the clouds
send us a white, light snowfall, made of snowflakes with different shapes.
Each Chapter is like a light snowfall—collectively we make a difference. Our individual
talents bind us together to make a difference in our Communities. Each snowflake as
it falls to earth and bonds with another-its Chrystal structure grows and glistens a little
bigger and a little more sparkle to its glow.
I may not be the president next year but I will be a part of the snowfall and help add to
your talents as you add to mine. Together we do make a difference for the good.
2013 get ready because here they come, the snowfall and glistening snowflakes!
The new Board for 2013 is: Mary Jo Thomas-President, Romy Watts- President Elect,

The Tucson Chapter had a hugely successful Dessert & Silent Auction
“How the West was FUN on September 21 and raised just a smidge over
$10,000. We also had our best BRM of the year in September with guest
speakers—Arizona Real Estate Commissioner Judy Lowe, Department of
Financial Institution’s Superintendent Lauren Kingry, and National
RESPA/Fraud Speaker Diana Williams. Our biggest accomplishment this year was getting ourselves
out of the red and ramping up membership with 3 new REALTOR members and 2 National Affiliate
members just this month. The best advice I can pass onto the incoming President is to make sure your
budget is strong, attend all State and National meetings as that is where you will learn from the best,
and never hesitate to ask for help. I am pleased to introduce our 2013 Officers:

Thanks for the Memories!
By: Yvonne Coelet, 2012 Arizona State Governor
I would like to say…it’s been a pleasure serving you as your 2012 AZ State Governor. I have
enjoyed my travels across this great state of ours. Along the way I’ve had the pleasure of
meeting some wonderful people.
One of the greatest parts of serving AZ WCR is the ability to take what others are doing and sharing it with
other chapters. There is no point in reinventing the wheel when there is somebody else out there already doing
it. I am always amazed about some of the creative “stuff” WCR is doing!
I’ve been in involved with the Women’s Council of REALTORS® right after I got my license. One of the
things I get a kick out of is when an agent I have met calls me and asks me for the name of an agent in
___________...fill in the area. They are always amazed that I know somebody in that area! It’s nice to know
that I have a network of agents that have similar beliefs and work ethics as myself.
I would like you to know that if anyone ever needs any help with anything (well…as long as it’s legal…) please
feel free to contact me.
Forever yours…Yvonne

WCR Membership Drive Event
By: Tricia Lehane, REALTOR®, 2012 Arizona State Secretary
The five valley Chapters & State WCR participated for the first time in a public event hosted
by Arizona Multiple Listing Service LearnAThon on Thursday, October 25th. Approximately
400 people attended the LearnAThon, so it gave us the opportunity to expose Women’s
Council to several potential members. We do not want to be the “Best kept secret in the Valley”.
