From the terminal, taxi = 4/tr. Located about 150m (492ft) along the dirt road to the
military base (or the road to Arcoiris, a luxury hotel). If you want to walk, leave the
bus station on the side of plaza Mayor. Cross the plaza on the side with the church &

This cute little village with colorful decorations radiates peace, relaxation & art. Go hiking
in the beautiful Cocora Valley & admire the pure nature & strong horses, active kolibri's,
lush mountains & numerous waxpalm trees, learn about the coffee production or play
some tejo for free at Los Amigos (consumption needed) in this wonderful coffee region. HIGHLIGHTS
99 Cocora Valley: A wonderful free hike surrounded by wax palm trees & green hills.
Willys (=jeeps) leave at 6:10, 7:30, 9:30 & 11:30am from the plaza = 3pp, 30min.
The tour will take 5hrs. The 4x4’s will be waiting for you to bring you back to the center.
Take water & food. Take a rest at a little farm ’Acaime’ where you can drink a typical hot
chocolate with cheese ’Queso con chocolate’ & see lots of hummingbirds (=3pp).
99 Nevada del Tolima (5215m/17109ft): The hike to this beautiful volcano & hot springs
will take up to 3 days. Overnight possibilities in the mountains. Horse riding treks up
there: Ask around in the center.
99 La Carbonera: Spectacular visit to colombia's largest wax palm forest high in the
cordillera central surrounded by majestic mountains & natural habitat of some species in
danger of extinction e.g. oso anteojos (bespectacled bear). Altitude is more then 3800m
(12467ft). Tour = 7hrs, 300/t (max 6 pers).
99 Speakeasy: Nice bar & food; great meetingpoint with other travelers. Cll 6 # 0-48. Best
coffee @ Cafe Jesus Martin = 1/2 block from the main square.
99 Horse back riding: Round trip whith lush valleys, river crossings & stunning views = 10pp/hr;
3-4hrs = 30-40/pp. You can take a horse into the Cocora Valley for approx. the same cost.
99 Visit an organic small coffee finca & learn how coffee is grown, harvested, dryed,

HOSTEL TRALALA SALENTO
Stay on the bus until the last stop, that's in front of the little office on the town's
central plaza. Facing the office, you walk R, about 75m (246ft). Hostel Tralala is the
white/orange building on the L corner, in front of the local hospital.
This is a hostel for people that can appreciate beauty & comfort, such as piping hot water
& 2 kitchens that will make your mom jealous. All beds have duvets with white linen,
good mattresses, soft pillows & all guests get a towel. It's a tranquil, intimate space
for maximum 21 guests with a cosy living room that has a 32 inch television with DVD
player & a collection of quality movies.
Other extras are boot-rental for rainy weather, yoga mats, book exchange (& lots of
quiet places to read them), a laundry service & facilities to wash your own clothes. In
the patio with hammocks or the garden with sun terrace there's plenty of opportunity to

Hostel Tralala is located just 1 block from the town’s central plaza & therefore a great

LA SERRANA ECO FARM & HOSTEL
Take a jeep in the main plaza to La Serrana. Jeep (only taxis) = 6/tr each way. If you
do not find a jeep call La Serrana to help you track 1 down. Or from the main plaza,
walk down the hill towards the fire station & turn L over the yellow pedestrian bridge.
Continue straight along the road, past the cemetery. From there you can follow the
signs along the country road = 20min. Transport by the hostel from/to Armenia
airport = 80-120/tr.
