Praise the Lord! We give God all the honor and praise for his many blessings. We
are delighted to have another opportunity
to share the positive things happening with our youth.
In February, we were able to honor our past and celebrate
our future at YFC Honors: What Excellence Looks Like.
This ceremony included a red carpet and information about
some of the pillars in Black History. We were even fortunate
to get information about our church’s legacy. It was a wonderful event and everyone left with more knowledge.
Our youth are always excited about their monthly interactive services where they serve as devotional leaders and
contribute in other ways. They have learned about the
importance of testimonies and consecration. They have
learned about exposure and how to conduct themselves on
social media. In May, our youth were able to hear from their
very own Bro. Kedrick Person. He gave a moving testimony about motivation and trusting in the Lord, while sharing
wisdom from his freshman year in college. June arrived
with Father’s Day not far off, our youth decided to make a
personal contribution since fathers are often overlooked.
The YFC sponsored a Sundae Fun Day for the entire family, but with special focus on the fathers. The day included
food, games, and of course, ice cream. The fathers that
participated loved every bit of it. The youth were also able
to give peanut bags and free appetizer cards to all of the
fathers. We would like to thank Texas Roadhouse in Wake
Forest, NC for their lovely donation.
Well another school year has come to an end, we would
like to recognize some of our youth. We are very proud of
ALL of you; continue to keep up the good work.

Sunny Day
Oh Mr. Sunshine
Oh Mr. Sunshine
You come out when my days are gloomy and gray
Please come out to stay
The rain has gone the sun has come,
Please brighten up my day
The trees are swaying in the sunny breeze
Birds are singing sweet melodies
Bees are buzzing, riding the breeze
Apple trees red, yellow, and green,
Seem to greet the sun with ease
Green trees and honey bees
Oh that pollen makes me sneeze
The flowers stand all in a row with their petals aglow
Oh Mr. Sunshine
Oh Mr. Sunshine
Please come out and stay

Youth News: Triumph WOTCC, Roanoke, VA
Since the winter jubilee, the saints at Triumph Church have been dutiful and prayerful in supporting each other, the youth, our community, and
the organization.
On March 22, we held our annual March Madness service.
The saints dressed down for this service int heir favorite
team attire. The pastor’s message oftentimes incorporates
experiences from coaching and pastoring lining up with
scripture references. God always blesses in this service
and we enjoy the fellowship.
The saints celebrated Resurrection Sunday on April 5 with
“Sonrise” service, fellowship breakfast, and Sunday Celebration. Through the service of Holy Communion, God
keeps us mindful of the ultimate sacrifice He made for our
sins through the death of His son Jesus Christ on the cross
of Calvary.
We enjoyed fellowship with the saints of God during the
Virginia State Meeting hosted by District Elder Alfred Jones
and saints at Jesus Center WOTCC, in Appomattox, VA,
on Saturday, April 18. The testimonies of the saints were
uplifting, but to see the work that God is doing in Appomattox was one of the greatest. The VA Diocese services were
a blessing to us all.
We celebrated and remembered those family members
who have given their lives for our freedom on Sunday, May
24. We displayed portraits of them as well as those who
have served and are still living and able to enjoy the fruit of
their labor and service to this country. We sang hymns and
prayed for our nation. We are thankful to our veterans.
God blessed us on Sunday, May 31, to render service with
our brothers and sisters at Unlimited Power COOLJC, Roanoke, VA, where District Elder Sylvan Moyer is the pastor.
Eld. Christopher Hairston took his text from Genesis 32:2432and the subject was “The Struggle is Real.” The saints
from Triumph and Unlimited Power enjoyed the fellowship
and the timely word from Pastor Hairston.
The Brotherhood and Sisterhood fellowship was held on
Saturday, June 6. We packed the cooler and the SUV,
grabbed our cameras, and headed up the Blue Ridge
Parkway from Roanoke Mountain to the Peaks of Otter on
a nature trek. We made several stops along the parkway
to take in the heavenly views, the fresh air, and the peacefulness of nature. We had a picnic at one of the overlooks
midway through the trek. We decided to continue our
nature tour and hopped on the highway to Natural Bridge.
We thoroughly enjoyed the hike through Natural Bridge
and marveled at the wonder of God’s creation and learned
so much from representatives of the Monacan Indian tribe.
Following a beautiful day of fellowship and enjoying nature,
we had dinner together at Cracker Barrel.
To acknowledge and congratulate our youth, we held our
first Academic and Professional Achievement Ceremony on
Sunday morning, June 21. Each child was recognized and
presented with a $10 gift card. Following are the recognitions from our Kingdom Kids:
Bro. Guerson Desir was promoted to the 9th grade.
Sis. Enaya Carter was promoted to the 8th grade and she
made the A/B Honor Roll.
Bro. Israel Hairston was promoted to the 4th grade; made
the A Honor Roll; received Outstanding Attendance; received the Music Excellence Award – Recorder for earning
white, yellow, and orange beads; received another Music
Excellence Award –Recorder for earning white, yellow,
orange, and green beads (for learning a tune not to be
taught until fourth grade); received a perfect score on his
third grade reading SOL; passed all other SOLs; received a
citizenship certificate; and participated in the Gifted Art Program and had his artwork displayed in the Roanoke County
Schools Art Show. During summer break in the month of
June, Israel attending Sculpting Camp at the Burton Center
for the Arts and Technology. Israel just finished up his first
travel baseball season with Team VA 9U, winning two tournaments, and coming in second place twice.
Bro. Ethan Hairston graduated from the 5th grade and
received a Promotion Certificate to the 6th grade; made the
A/B Honor Roll; received the President’s Education Award
for Outstanding Academic Excellence accompanied by
letters from President Barak Obama and the Secretary of
Education Arne Duncan; received Outstanding Attendance;
received the Art Achievement Certificate for Outstanding
5th grade artist; received the Wellness Award (for meeting
all VA physical fitness tests); pass advanced his Math SOL;
passed all other SOLs; received a citizenship certificate;
and received a Certificate of Excellence for artwork displayed at the 2015 EventZone Art Show during the Vinton
Dogwood Festival. Ethan was chosen to be a mentor in the
Kindergarten Buddy system at his school.
He attended Kids Tech University at
Virginia Tech (four S.T.E.M. sessions held

with real college professors in the spring
on one Saturday each in the months of
January, February, March, and April). His
fifth grade teacher recommended him for the AMP (Math),
Pre-AP Science, English, and History in 6th grade. Ethan
attended Robotics Camp at the Burton Center for the Arts
and Technology during summer break in the month of June.
Ethan just completed his first season playing travel baseball with the Vinton Tribe 11U, winning one tournament and
placing second a few.
On Wednesday, June 24, our pastor gave a technology
workshop at church to show the members how to access
our church’s information, services, and webcasting. He
asked the members to bring their iPads, tablets, laptops, or
whatever form of technology used. He also showed them
how to share things with others and use the technology as
a tool for witnessing and outreach.
Unlimited Power COOLJC came to fellowship with us on
Sunday afternoon, June 28. We had a mighty good time,
singing, dancing, and giving God the praise. But oh what a
might word from District Elder Sylvan Moyer…I may have
been dropped, but I’m still useful! His text came from II
Samuel about Mephibosheth. God continues to bless this
fellowship and the people of God love being in one another’s presence. What an encouraging message!
Eld. Christopher Hairston was the guest speaker at Shiloh
WOTCC for their academic service on Sunday, July 5. He
gave an inspiring testimony of how God has blessed him to
be successful, but that it did not all come in the chronological order we expect. Sometimes unexpected detours or
obstacles can still land you on a path that God has laid out
for you if you stick with him no matter the ups and downs
or disappointments. We were thankful to be present to
hear the accomplishments of the youth in this portion of the
vineyard.
On Saturday, July 25, we held and car wash and snack
sale for the Kingdom Kids. We are thankful for those who
stopped by and blessed our youth. We are grateful for the
donations and the outreach. And on Sunday, July 26, we
had a high time in the Lord celebrating the 47th church
anniversary and the 5th pastoral anniversary of Jerusalem
WOTCC. God truly met us in that service!
Pray for us as we pray for you as we all work together to
accomplish the goals for the Kingdom!

FOREVER!
OH, TASTE AND SEE THAT THE LORD
IS GOOD AND HIS MERCY ENDURES
Tribute to Bishop Alphonzo D. Brooks
In February 2015, words cannot express how overjoyed
we, the Youth for Christ, became when we heard our
Pastor, Bishop Alphonzo D. Brooks, was voted by the
Executive Board of Bishops as Presiding Bishop Elect of
the Way of the
Cross Church of
Christ, International (WOTCC). He
served faithfully as
the 1st Vice Presiding Bishop for
several years and
the Senior Pastor
of the WOTCC
Mother Church for
over 36 years. Bishop Brooks is the youngest child born
to the late founder, Bishop Henry C. and Mother Willie D.
Brooks. The Lord says in Matthew 25:23, “You have been
faithful over a few things and now I will make you a leader
over many!” This coming September 2015, Bishop Brooks
will celebrate his 37th anniversary as Senior Pastor of the
“Mother Church,” keeping up the legacy of his father.
Tribute to Bishop Walter Thompson
Congratulations to our Pastor, Bishop Thompson, who
celebrated milestone, his 92nd birthday, on June 17, 2015!
Bishop Thompson’s desire to serve the Lord with all his
heart is a true inspiration to all those around him. One
thing we know for sure is that we have a praying and loving
Pastor who loves the young people. Please keep him in
your prayers! His best days are ahead!
“Train up a child in the way that he shall go and when He/
she is older...”
We are so proud of our youth for having to daily balance
going to school, family time, and most importantly their desire to serve the Lord! Whether in grade school or college
(undergrad and grad) to serving our country, the youth at
the Mother Church continue to excel with high honors.
Now, we would like to take the opportunity to recognize a
few who have achieved great milestones. For those of you
who are moving on to the next grade or level in your life
and careers, we stand firm on the National Youth for Christ
(NYFC) motto “Salvation to Education.” We can do ALL
things through Christ!

years to figure it out. We’re proud of
Kasmira and all her hard work. Keep
up the good work.
College
Ryan Perkins-Sturdivant is a defensive
end (jersey #98) at Shepherd University located in West Virginia. On September 27, 2014, Perkins-Sturdivant
recorded his first career sack against
West Virginia Wesleyan. In his first season with the Shepherd Rams, he helped hold opponents to less than 45 rushing yards per game which lead to the Rams being crowned
as the number one ranked rush defense in all of college
football for the fourth consecutive season. Ryan is looking
forward to this upcoming football season as he continues to
go higher on the field and in the classroom. He continues
to make his family proud! Way to Go Ryan!

Sydney, we are so proud of you and we
thank you for your service to our country
and truly being a soldier in the army of
the Lord!
“When two or three are gathered
together”
The summer has kicked off with
several events for the Youth for
Christ. In June, we started off
becoming “The Church of the
Month” at Temple Hills Skating
Rink – and had a blast! We
even had custom T-shirts made
by our very own Sister Rita
Edge and Teddy Lancaster. The
Youth for Christ is so grateful
for all of the church members
that came out to support the youth that night. Some of us
fell, but as the song says, “But we got up!” We are looking
forward to doing it again soon.
National Children’s Day, June 14, 2015
The service from beginning to end was a spiritually filled
AMAZING time in the Lord! It
began with our praise team leader
Bro. Herbert Contee, leading the
congregation into worship. The
congregational song was led by
Michiya, Riyan, Kai, and Emani
as they sung, “I’m a Promise.”
The congregation stood to their
feet and we truly felt those words
“and I am learning to hear God’s
voice...I’m a promise to be anything God wants me to be.” The
scripture reading was done by
Adam and little Jemari prayed for
the church. Jean Brooks ministered in a praise dance to “God
bless this house” that moment the spirit overflowed. Last,
but not least, the Voices of Unity Choir, lead by the kids,
sung “I am what God says I am.” Kasmira, Kendrick, Jr.,
Michiya, Adam, and Sis. Tomica did an amazing job ministering the song as the choir backed them up.
Our speaker, Bro. Matthew Fogg, who was raised in the
Mother Church, delivered a message “Stand Still and See
the Salvation of Our Mighty God.” Bro. Fogg is a former
U.S. Deputy Marshall and a law enforcement expert on
various media outlets like: CNN, MSNBC, and C-SPAN.
His commitment to make sure justice is served to those
that do injustice in the criminal justice system is extremely
necessary in the times we are living in. Matthew has gone
above and beyond the call of duty to keep this nation safe.
We truly were blessed with his testimony! He overcame so
many obstacles in fighting the justice system that proved
when God has a purpose for your life nothing can stop you!
A monumental moment came when our Pastor called all
the officers and the head of the YFC Transition Team on
the stage; our Youth President, Deacon Antoine Lancaster,
and our head of the YFC Transition Team, Dionne McFadden. We salute you and all of the YFC officers. Teamwork
makes the dream work!
Youth Basketball Tournament
In July 2015, the Youth for Christ is looking forward to our
Youth Basketball Tournament, in honor of the late Deacon
Harry “Buddy” McFadden, Sr. In August 2015, we will have
our annual Youth Retreat in Shenandoah!
The “Mother Church” Youth for Christ would like to give a
special thank you to Sis. Linda Johnson for taking the time
out to write our entry in the newsletter!
Follow us on Facebook or at our church website for future
events (www.wotccministries.com). We continue to strive
to win souls as God intended. Daily our church and YFC is
growing and we look forward to pursuing our destiny in the
fullest of the Lord! The best is yet to come! To God be all
the glory for the great things He has done!
I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly[a] call in
Christ Jesus. -Phillipians 3:14

Youth News: Atlanta Metro WOTCC, Stone Mountain, GA
Blessings and greetings in
the name of our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ!
Atlanta Metro Way of the
Cross has seen growth in
our youth department both
spiritually and naturally. We
have had 24 youth to join
the church this year and we
have been blessed to baptize ten souls in the name of
Jesus Christ. We have had
three births and christened
three beautiful babies. We
are excited to say that we
have also had youth receive the precious gift of the Holy
Ghost.
We believe that education plus salvation equals success.
We are happy for the Joseph family. Sis. Lena Joseph
earned her doctoral degree during the same year that her
son Lorenzo earned his bachelor’s degree. This was an
exciting time for the Joseph family and for Atlanta Metro.
In May, we celebrated our 13th Pastoral Anniversary and
Atlanta Metro’s 12th Church Anniversary. We were encouraged by our national evangelist, District Elder Melvin
Easley to “stretch forth!” A timely word indeed. We are
truly grateful for our pastor, Bishop Eric L. Cannady, and
we pray that God will give him many more fruitful years in
ministry.
Atlanta Metro has sponsored various programs to develop
fellowship and equip our youth for future success! The
programs that centered on fellowship included our youth
round table sessions, the birthday celebration and recognition program, vacation bible school, academic rewards
program, and recreational opportunities. We are equipping
our youth for success by hosting educational programs this
summer that focus on building key leadership skills. We
are striving to build well rounded warriors for the Kingdom!
Please continue to keep our church in prayer as we continue to impact the future by pointing to the cross!

Youth News: City of Refuge WOTCC, Richmond, VA
Greetings from City of Refuge Way of
the Cross Church, Richmond, VA!
In March, we held our 3rd Annual Covenant Keeper’s
Marriage Conference. Due to the continued growth of
the conference, this
year it was held at the
Holiday Inn Richmond
South. We were
blessed with married
couples from various
churches and cities.
This year, we were favored to have as our
conference guests,
Pastor Jeff and Lady
Trivinia Kellam Hairston,
along with the saints from the Tabernacle of Praise Church
of Christ, Rocky Mount, VA. Pastor Hairston brought forth
a powerful word on Friday night. On Saturday, Pastor
Jeff and Lady Hairston, conducted a powerful seminar on
“Juggling it All – Ministry,
Family, Career, & Life.”
We were also favored
with a powerful seminar
from District Elder Alfred
Jones, pastor of Jesus
Center WOTCC, entitled
the “Castration of Boaz.”
Those in attendance
will never forget this
thought provoking seminar. Together, Pastor
and Lady Travis conducted
a communication workshop using various scenarios for the
couples to discuss and resolve. The day concluded with
our concurrent sessions: Barbershop and Beauty Shop.
Make plans to attend our 2016 Covenant Keeper’s Marriage Conference, Friday, March 4 through Saturday, March
5, 2016.
For our April “1st Friday Revival” service, we were blessed
by the word of God from Elder Milton Hardy, Jr., Prayer
Temple COOLJC, Roanoke, VA. Also, during the month
of April, Bishop James Miller and the Anointed Fellowship
Praise Church, Richmond, VA, joined us for a great fellowship service.
For our May “1st Friday Revival” service, we were blessed by the word of God from Min. Ronneil Brown, Greater
Love Apostolic Outreach Holiness Church, Clarksville, TN,
formerly of Grace Tabernacle WOTCC, Atlanta, GA. We
were blessed to connect with Min. Brown while he was
taking classes at Fort Lee. We bid him Godspeed as he
will be stationed in Germany for the next few years. Also
in May, we held our first Mother’s Day Breakfast sponsored
by our Men’s Ministry on Saturday, May 10. The mothers
were highly impressed by the culinary skills and service
provided by the brothers for this event. In addition, each
mother received a gift card and potted flower. Way to go
Men’s Ministry!
During the month of May, City of Refuge held a “Countdown to Pentecost” Prayer Revival. With our current facility, this was the first time we were able to have this revival
live instead of virtually over our conference call line. We
praise God for meeting us each night around the altar and
for the gifts, signs, wonders, and miracles witnessed.
In May, we were excited to witness the marriage of Sis.
Cierra Cannady and Bro. Walter Fisher on Saturday, May

international education for two years.

Youth News: Bethel WOTCC, Huntingtown, MD
We send you greetings from the Youth
for Christ Ministry at Bethel WOTCC, Inc.
We are elated and thrilled at what God is
doing in our midst. There are great things happening in city
of Huntingtown, MD. Over the past few months Bethel’s
youth have been engaged in several services, accomplishments, and various church activities.
Bethel were served a delicious breakfast. The teens earned
community service credit for this event.
Church Services/Activities:
Our youth department has been very busy in the last couple of months. It has been such a blessing for our young
people. We are growing and progressing, working for
the kingdom and striving to please God in all that we do.
Please be praying for our youth body as a whole, for we
wrestle day to day with the enemy and his tactics. Pray that
we stay unified and continue to hold up the bloodstained
banner and Bethel’s youth as a whole will continue to pray
for you.
On April 11, 2015, our teen leader, Bro. Isaiah Heigh,
planned a heartfelt fellowship for his peers. They went to
Washington, DC to feed the homeless. The teens prepared
a bag lunch with a drink for them. They handed out the
lunches and took time to talk and pray with those that were
homeless. It was such an awesome experience to witness.
The teens were uplifted because they helped in some way,
someone who was in need. An amazing shout out goes to
Bro. Isaiah on such a thoughtful activity.
#LetsGoGetIt #2015FilledFaithfulFocused
Truly the Lord is moving by His Spirit at Bethel WOTCC,
our YFC Ministry is on fire for the Lord and we are inspired,
encouraged, and determined to keep the fire burning. Let’s
tune in to see what our youth department has been up to
since our last national meeting.
Awesome job to our very own Youth Advisor Elder O’Brien
Echols and Sis. LaVonya Echols, who serves as the President of Building Fund Committee, along with our Youth
for Christ members Bro. Bryan and Sis. Latasha Lynch,
Bro. Shawn and Sis. Machelle Harrod and Min. Cory and
Sis. Danielle Cromwell who are serving so diligently on the
Building Fund Committee.
On March 21, 2015, our teen leader, Sis. Selena Spriggs,
planned an awesome fellowship for her peers. They went
to see the movie, “Do You Believe?” This movie had a great
impact on the teens, as it talked about believing in God and
doing something about it by sharing the gospel of Jesus
Christ. Thanks Sis. Selena for a well-planned event!
Youth Bible Study is held every 3rd Sunday with various
Young Adult Ministry instructors who are coming forth in the
power of the Holy Ghost, word, and work of the Lord.
On March 28, 2015, the teens volunteered to serve breakfast at Applebee’s in Prince Frederick, MD. Sis. Lisa
Height-Gross owns “Loving Senior Care Assisted Living
Services.” And her residents as well as members from
The Young Adult Ministry and Teen Ministry came together
to fellowship in a night of bowling. Those who attended
came back and reported they had a lot fun just relaxing,
winding down, and enjoying each other’s company.
The appreciation service held in the memory of Mother
Mildred Harmon was a great success! Those who were
honored were truly surprised and elated to be recognized.
Those among the honorees were our Youth for Christ Secretary, Sis. Latasha Lynch, and our musician, Bro. Andrew
Hayman.
On April 25, 2015, we had our Mid-Atlantic Diocese service.
During the youth portion, Bethel’s teens did an awesome
job representing. Sis. Dasia Chew and Bro. Cameron
Chase gave testimonies. Sis. NeVaeh Chew read the scripture. Sis. Selena Spriggs was the mistress of ceremony
for the service. Sis. Cayla Chase and Sis. Selena Spriggs
did praise and worship. Sis. Cayla Chase also expounded
on the theme scripture and did a great job. Sis. Brieanna
Echols sang in the choir. Our youth are steadily rising and
being bold for Christ.
One of our Young Adult Ministry leaders, Sis. LaTosha
Chew, was the speaker for Bethel’s annual Mother-Daughter Breakfast. The breakfast was a huge success and
the message was right on time, helping the sisters repair
broken relationships.
During the month of April, Bethel celebrated their 62nd
Church Anniversary. In the last service held during our celebration, Sis. Dasia Chew who was already filled with the
precious gift of the Holy Ghost, was baptized during the last
service in Jesus Name! All praises belong to God!
On May 17, 2015, the teens held their first
Purity Service. The teens were challenged

to make a vow to the Lord to live for Him
and presenting their bodies a living sacrifice. Bethel’s Dance Ministry did an awesome job worshipping to “Before the Throne” by Shekinah
Glory. We would like to thank our Dance Ministry leaders
Sis. Jacqueline Barlow and Sis. Cayla Makell for helping
out. Also during this service, we had various speakers who
elaborated on different topics: “The Holy Ghost is a Keeper” by Sis. LaTasha Lynch; “I Vow to Wait” by Bro. Carlton
Dorsey; “Don’t Be Afraid To Talk About It” by Dea. Robert
and Sis. Carlene Chase; and “You Can Get Back Up” by
Missionary Gloria Thompson. Sanctuary of Praise WOTCC
was able to join us for this special service.
On June 12, 2015, the teens had a fellowship entitled
“Deception.” We focused on how the devil is preying on
the young, making things that are not good for us to look
good. We watched a video about how the devil uses music
and dance to draw us in. We learned how spirits are being
transferred through music. We also learned that we are
the children of God and He wants us to be aware and filled
with his power so we can fight off the wiles of the devil and
spread the word of what the devil desires to do. We want
to thank Bro. Shawn Easton who taught on this topic. God
used him for His glory!
The 2nd Annual Teen Ministry Lock-In was held on July
31 through August 1, 2015. The theme was “Created For
So Much More”. Teens came out for fellowship and fun,
including spa treatments, bonfire, basketball tournament,
haircuts, game bus, and so much more. The teens truly
enjoyed themselves.

Youth News: Jerusalem WOTCC, Rocky Mount, VA
Greetings from Jerusalem WOTCC in Rocky Mount, VA!
We are truly excited about what God is doing here on Apostolic Corner, and we are delighted to share some of our
most recent news and events.
Every 3rd Sunday is Youth Sunday where our youth have
the opportunity to showcase their talents and gifts for The
Lord. On the 3rd Saturday of each month we have a special

the Sunday morning service, our youth have the opportunity to lead the prayer, scripture, welcome, offering, and sing
in the youth choir. Our youth are not afraid to praise the
Lord, and we praise God for their boldness!
Our Spring Revival took place March 18-March 20 where
we received a dynamic message each night from Bishop
Thomas Fowler, pastor of Smyrna Apostolic Church in Reidsville, NC. The power of God was surely in the house on
these three nights!
On April 22, Bro. TaRon and Sis. Kesha Ziegler welcomed
baby Melodi Adaiyah Ziegler into their family. We thank
God for such a beautiful baby girl!
Wedding bells were heard and congratulations were in
order on Saturday, May 9 as Bro. Travis Johnson and Sis.

day was extra special in that both of them graduated from
Ferrum College that morning, and were joined in marriage
later that day! Bro. Travis received his Bachelor’s degree in
History, and Sis. Miranda received her Bachelor’s degree in
Social Work.
Sis. Donna Kidd also graduated on the very same day from
North Carolina State University with a 4.0 GPA, and she

recognized the academic achievements of our youth and
young adults. We also recognized all of our members who
serve as teachers, teacher assistants, substitute teachers,
and school support staff. Each honoree was blessed with a
special gift from the church as a token of our appreciation.
The month of July was quite eventful as we celebrated our
47th Church Anniversary and our 5th Pastoral Anniversary! The first Sunday of our celebration month, July 5, was
Family and Friends Day. A covered dish dinner followed this
service. Bishop Thomas Fowler and the Smyrna Apostolic Church from Reidsville, VA were our special guests on

Academically
Christian has been an honor roll student every year
since he began attending
school. He has never
earned a grade less than a
B in any class and has consistently scored exceptionally well on standardized
tests. For this past school
term, Christian was again
recognized for being on
the School’s (A-B) Honor
Roll for each of the four
nine-week grading periods. He also received an award for
Excellence in Music. For the 2015-2016 school term, Christian has been accepted into the Florence School District
One International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program
(IBMYP). The IBMYP is an interdisciplinary curriculum that
includes English, foreign languages, mathematics, social
studies, science, the arts, technology, and physical education and it provides academic rigor while emphasizing life
skills and a sense of social responsibility through community and service. It prepares ih and gth grade students for
participation in the International Baccalaureate Diploma
Program, which is widely regarded as the most challenging
college preparatory program in the world.
In the Church
Christian is actively involved in the church on the local,
diocese, regional, and national levels. At Lighthouse Way
of the Cross Church, he shares the responsibility of playing
the keyboard and drums with his older brother, Stevie. He
is also actively involved in the Youth for Christ department
and can often be heard conducting the worship service,
singing songs of praise, leading the congregation in prayer,
or reading the scripture on Youth Day. He is also often
designated to do the welcome address for special occasions involving visiting congregations. He can always be
counted on to fill in - whether it is handing out programs
at the door, mowing the church’s lawn, vacuuming the
sanctuary, serving refreshments, or carrying the pastor’s
briefcase. Christian has not missed a Sunday school class
or morning worship service at Lighthouse Way of the Cross
Church since its establishment in March 2007!
In the SC Diocese and in the Southern Region, Christian

I wonder if people really knows what it means to cease not to fight. The easiest way to say it is, don’t give up.
God has not given up on you. I must let go of everything that holds me back and speak without fear, defending the gospel. I should put God first and I cannot be embarrassed about being a child of God. With Christ, I
know I am victorious and in the end I will win. I can’t worry about my friends not holding up a standard. This is
my fight to win. I have to fight for my soul. In the end, it does not matter how someone else fights, but I must
answer to God. When God says fight, I must fight. How can I fight? I can fight by not falling into sin. When
others are trying to make me do evil things and try to fight against the church, I have to stand up for the faith. I
must speak and live in a Godly manner. That’s ceasing not to fight. I must press on to live a life pleasing unto
the Lord so I can go back to live with Him one day.
Running A Great Race For An Even Greater Prize

Have you ever ran a race and knew that once you won, you would receive a prize, so that made you run much
harder? Philippians 3: 14 reads “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” As Christians our goal is to be holy and seek for a higher calling in Jesus. What is a higher calling you
ask? A higher calling in this context means we will be with Jesus in Heaven. The same way we would run a
race for a prize is the way we should serve Christ for the prize of the higher calling. We are all made in his
image but in order to reach the higher calling we must not sin. “I press toward the mark” simply tells us that we
are running a race to receive the prize that God has for us. Our “mark” is none other than our
goal of getting to Heaven (our higher calling). This race is not a physical race such as a marathon, but more of a spiritual race to get to HEAVEN! In my conclusion, if you don’t obey the
Bible, you are not pressing toward the mark.

Almost every day we are in a fight to get ahead. If you stand for something, you will always be in a fight. If you
want to be the best, you have to fight to win. In sports, you have to practice hard, focus on what you are doing,
and trust your teammates that they will do the right thing to win the game. When you go to school, you have to
listen to your teachers, follow their directions, and focus on getting stuff done right the first time. You have to
be a good classmate to everyone, big or small. In the world around you, don’t get caught listening to ungodly
music, watching dirty TV shows, or hanging with bad people who use ugly language. During church services,
listen to your pastor and you should want to get baptized in Jesus name and have the Holy Ghost. You should
want to help others that are going on the wrong path so they will want to follow God. If you keep up the fight
for God and his word, he will give you the best rewards. Don’t stop believing because God’s reward for your
fight is not too far away.

To be able to press toward the mark for the prize, we have to stay focused. By putting on the whole armor of
God. Ephesians 6:10-18 talks about putting on the whole armor of God. We cannot go unprepared, there must
be mandatory prayer, fasting, studying of the Word of God. During this past football season, my coach has
been on me pretty hard on plays that were not my fault. I wanted to give up, but I stuck to it and made the allstar team because I didn’t give up and pressed forward.
The enemy is going to put all kinds of hurdles in our path to discourage us in this fight, God has equipped us
with the weapons we need for the battle. Satan’s goal is to keep us under his feet and when times get tough,
he wants us to quit. Our Lord and Savior know all angles, when and where to strike. When we have on the
whole armor of God we are fully protected, covered by his word. I will never cease to fight; I know my goals are
ahead of me, with the help of my Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

There are many types of Fights that we have in our lives. Some are fun, like my video games and
some are not so fun like the fights I have with my little sister. But the biggest fight I have in my life right now is
my battle with fear and getting baptized.
I feel scared because of people looking at me. Because of this fear, I may not make it to heaven. This
lets me know that this fight is on the inside of me. It’s not with my fist, a weapon, or a game controller, but it’s
in my mind and heart. The only way I can overcome this fear is with bravery and Faith in Jesus Christ. He is
the only one that can help me defeat the devil, press over this fear, get baptized in Jesus’ name
and be filled with the Holy Ghost. I have to fight the good fight of faith as I Timothy 6:12 tells us.
I will do this! Until then, I will keep pressing toward my ultimate goal…To make it in the rapture,
which is the high calling of Jesus Christ.

Have you thought about how it would feel to hear God say, “You are none of mine?” I want to hear Him say, “Well
done!” That’s why I must fight without ceasing until God comes back for me. I know sometimes life seems hard and you
feel tired, hurt, and beat down. Sometimes, you feel like you just need to give up? I’ve heard people say, “It’s not even
worth this to reach my goal.” People give up the fight all the time in life; marriages, living, sports teams, dieting, struggles, and most of all doing what God wants them to. You can give up on many fights, but whatever you do, don’t give up
on God. This is not what God intended for us to do. We have to see our goal, reach for our goal, press and hold on, and
continue to fight until we fulfill what God has placed us here to do.
Many people can’t see their goal because they don’t realize their purpose in God. To find your purpose you must
read the word, trust in God, and walk in your purpose as God guides you. I have learned there are many things to distract
you from getting to where God wants you to be. However, you must stay focused and listen to the Spirit of God as He
leads you.
In order to reach for our goals, we must stay true to being real for Christ. We can’t just go to church out of formality,
but we must become real disciples for Christ. We can’t allow our flesh to yield to sin. Sometimes when life gets hard you
have to press on fighting.
To press we must stay in the Bible, our sword that equips us to fight. We must let God arise and move out the
way. This is when we are strong enough to win the fight because if God is fighting we are winning and we are focused.
There is no way you can get through the fight without trusting in the Lord! If you are going through a struggle you cannot
just give up because that is not what Christians do. No matter how tough the situation is, the Lord will not give us too
much to bear. The Lord will fight our battles! Don.t give up, your goals are just ahead! We want to hear God say, “Well
Done!”

Have you ever heard “cease not to fight your goals are just ahead?” Well, I have. We all should look ahead in spite of
setbacks because focusing on God is a good thing, even when going through trials and tribulations. Paul was a good example of pressing his way to God. God is an awesome God. If you want to be saved keep focusing on God. Keep your
faith and never let go. I know everybody wants to go to heaven, nobody wants to go to hell, so press your way to God.
We are all going to go through trials and tribulations. The boy who killed the nine people allowed the devil to play with his
mind. He should have prayed and trust in God. Instead of him hurting nine families, he hurt mostly everybody’s heart.
The topic on today is about pressing your way and looking ahead of everything you do. Now, let me get to the story about
Paul. Paul was a good man. However, before he became a good man he was just killing people. So, one day Jesus
spoke to him, and then he began to preach about the goodness of God. Paul was a blind man but then he was healed.
Have you ever heard the people back in the days say “Jesus is an on time God?” Well, there is a song that says “Jesus is
an on time God oh yes He is.” After Paul became a Christian people started to throw stones at him and back then it was
no small stones. I don’t want to keep you long but isn’t God good. Repeat after me “yes, He is”.

To cease means to stop. To fight is to have an altercation with someone else or yourself. A fight can be external or internal. It can be physical, mental or even spiritual. A goal is something you want to achieve or reach. I have goals in life that
I want to reach with the help of the Lord. It is up to me to do all that I can to reach my goals. When I thought of the theme:
“Cease Not To Fight – Your Goals Are Just Ahead!”, I thought about my past school year. I did not physically fight but I had
mental and spiritual fights. I had to get up every day, go to school and work hard to reach my goal of passing to the next
grade. There were days that I wanted to stay in bed and rest. There were days when I did not feel like completing school
work. I had to fight public enemy number 1 myself. I had to remind myself of my goal to be successful and pass to the
next grade. I also had spiritual fights. I had to stand up for what I believed in which is the Word of God and His promises.
I had many conversations with my peers, which involved questions about my God and why I acted the way I did at school.
I did not back down but told them that I served the true and living God who made the Heavens and the Earth. I told of how
He opened blinded eyes, made the dumb speak and the lame to walk. I was talked about and misunderstood but I continue to fight without ceasing. I fought by continuing to read my Word, continuing to live to please God, continuing to fast and
pray. I did not have to physically fight because I knew the Lord would fight my battles if I just stood still. Even though I had
obstacles come my way, I continued to fight through perseverance and at the end of the school year I reached my goal.
Not only did I pass to the next grade but I introduced others to Jesus along the way. Remember the battle is not given to
the swift or to the strong but to those who endure to the end. Be encouraged in this Christian race because Galatians 6:9
tells us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14 is
about heading toward your goals with God’s help and at the end there would be a spot for you in heaven. This scripture
from the Bible also means to me that I should not give up on my goals and in fact I must push toward them. It’s good to
push toward your goals so you can win the prize at the end.
My goals after graduating from high school are to attend college, preferably ITT Institute and receive a degree in
Computer Technology. My career goal is to become a Computer Engineer, work for Hewitt Packard and ultimately design
my own computer. As a Computer Engineer I can have a good life for my family and me. I truly believe that I can do all
things through Christ Jesus which strengthens me, thus, I will only accomplish my goals with God’s grace and mercy. God
is the only one who can help me out with my goals. This scripture is telling all the people that read and believe in the word
of the Lord to never give up on your goals despite what people may say or do to prevent you from reaching your goals.
God is the prize at the end of any goal and if I consistently do what He asks of me he will help me toward my goal
which is to make it into heaven and hear Him say, “Well done”. God will always set a path for me to follow so I don’t get
sidetrack by any other thing that the world offers. In conclusion, while on the path to achieving my goals, God will help me
through tough times and He will provide all types of wisdom, knowledge and faith to help me accomplish my goals here on
earth and my goals for heaven.

Do you know what cease not to fight, your goals are just ahead mean? Well let me break it down for you. Cease not to
fight means we need to concentrate on prayer because God can fight for us. He has long arms that can reach places that
we cannot reach. Last but not least your goals are just ahead means, our goals are not just behind us, nor beside us but
they are in front of us.
Paul did just that, he followed his goals although he went through so much to reach his goals. He never gave up because
God was always by his side. The goal is whatever you pray for you can never doubt that He will be on time because He is
an on time God.
He may not be there when you expect Him but He’s always an on time God. We are to always put our trust in God for He
always answers our prayers, again it may be answered the way we want them to but in His own time.

Cease not to fight, your goals are just ahead. What are you praying for? Do you want God to do anything for you? Have
you thought about praying for the difficulties in your life? You have to keep pressing towards your goals and by pressing
I mean you can never give up on your goals that you have set for yourself. Just believe that God has heard your prayers
and that He is going to move! You may have heard the old saints say, “He may not be there when you want him, but He’s
always on time”, Just when you think He is not going to show up, He is always there. You must continue to keep on fighting, not physically because flesh and blood cannot do anything, but God can when you tell Him your problems.
God also says, “You have not because you ask not”, so if you don’t ask He will just sit there and not do a thing, so that’s
why you must always pray. If you pray to God He will hear your cry and help you achieve your goals. So many people
start complaining and think that God is not listening to them, but guess what? He is listening! All you just have to do is just
keep on believing and keep trusting in God. Never, never stop trusting in God.
Now Paul at first didn’t believe or trust God. He didn’t want people to know that He was real. So many people were killed.
While on his trip to Damascus, Jesus made Paul into a disciple and Paul began to write about the journey of Jesus Christ
as well as his own journey in achieving his goals.
So yes, you do have to fight for your goals, never give up, cease not to fight, your goals are just ahead….Paul proved that
to everyone.

Stay in the fight! Never give up on your goals or achievements. Know what your goals are and work towards them.
Setting goals will keep us focus to achieve things in life. Have faith in God to accomplish your goals. Trust and wait on the
Lord.
“ Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see”Hebrews 11:1. Never doubt yourself on
what you’re trying to do.
Have a prayerful life, having a prayerful life will guide you along the way. Set your mind on positive thoughts. “Trust in the
Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding” Proverbs 3:5. God will provide!
Your goal will be a testimony from staying in the fight. You will learn a lot of things just because you never gave up on
yourself.”I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 3:15.
Never say you can’t do anything. Always tell yourself, I can do anything as long as I put my mind to it. Sometimes we will
have to motivate ourselves to get where were going. We have to keep pushing and pressing.
You will make it to your goals and achievements. Just don’t stop fighting and letting down your guards. Keep fighting for
your goals. Stand tall for the fight and don’t back down. Remember “Cease not to fight your goals are just ahead”

“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Jesus Christ.”
Philippians 3:14 (KJV)
This scripture supports our theme:”Cease not to fight-your goal is just ahead.” So, in order to reach our goals, we need to
keep pressing and not give up. But, how do we keep pressing and not give up?
In order to keep pressing, you need to be able to endure trials and tribulations. 2 Timothy 2:3 tells us that good soldier of
Jesus Christ endure hardness. If you are going on a long trip via automobile, you may go through some hardness. You
may have to use the restroom or it may be tight in car with all the luggage and bags. But, if you endure those things and
let it not bother you, you will soon reach your destination. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ walked with a cross on his
back while bleeding and in pain. But, he endured it all. Hebrews 12:1-2 says that we should lay aside our problems and
run, with endurance, the race that is set before us, like the author and finisher of our faith did, as he is set down at the
right hand of the throne of God. Endurance is needed to reach your goal.
In order to endure, you need to have strength. Imagine two people running a marathon: a brawny man and a puny man.
Since the brawny man is stronger, he is more likely to win the race because of leg strength and endurance. The puny man
might have to stop and rest a few times because of their weak body. With the grace of God, you will receive the strength
to reach your goal. Philippians 4:13 says that you can do ALL things through Christ which strengthens you. Isaiah 40:29
tells us that he gives his strength to the weak. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says that his strength is perfect for those who are weak.
If you are weak and need strength, just call on Jesus.
Most importantly, to reach and achieve your goals, you need to have faith. Hebrews 11:1 says that faith is the substance
of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. One of my goals is receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. If I just
wanted it but didn’t have the faith, it would be hard to earn. Matthew 17:20 says if you have faith the size of a grain of a
mustard seed, you can move mountains. But, James 2:14-26 says that faith without works is dead. Keep the faith and
don’t give up.
With endurance, strength, and faith, you can reach your goals. So, cease not to fight because your goals are just ahead.

Some goals and targets are hard to accomplish, but they are reachable and can be attained with the help of Our Lord. In
order for us to reach these goals, we must not stop fighting and persevering until the victory is won. The moment you are
ready to quit is usually the moment right before the miracle occurs. So do not quit, but keep fighting.
To reach your goals, you must put up a good fight and not give in. Obstacles are sometimes placed in our way to
see if what we want is really worth fighting for. Obstacles are just stepping stone as we journey on, so we must not give
up. God has great plans for us. You may not be there yet but you are closer to your goals than you were yesterday. You
have to fight for your goals and let nothing hinder you. Philippians 4:13 states, “I can do all things through Christ which
strengthens me.” This lets me know that if God be for me, who can be against me. Nothing is ‘impossible’ for the word
itself says ‘I’m possible’.
Jesus is a perfect example of one not giving up on his goal. Jesus came to the earth to die for mankind and restore us back to God. Jesus did not give up. He went about teaching and doing the will of his father like healing the sick,
raising the dead, and feeding the hungry. But his main goal was to give up his life so that man could be saved. So, he
died on the cross, was buried in a tomb, but he was raised from the dead. His goal to save mankind was complete. He
did not stop until he reached his goal.
Some people fight for goals that are not good or godly. Recently a bill was passed for homosexuals to get married. Even though this is an abomination in the eye sight of God, the protestors didn’t back down or rested until they
reached their goal. If evil men can go after their goals, then why can’t we as people of God fight until we get what God
has in store for us. We may only be a few steps away from attaining our goals. With our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on
our side, we can reach these goals because God never disappoints and he never fails.
Therefore, we as young people must stay on our mission for God. We must be about our father’s business and
reach the goals that we have set with for ourselves. 2 Timothy 4:7 says “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my
course, I have kept the faith. So as a result, we too must keep the faith and continue to trust that God can lead us on to
victory as we strive to reach our goals. God knows our strengths and weaknesses, that’s why he does not allow us to
stop fighting. We must continue to run, looking unto Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith. We must fight for
the battle is won. For Isaiah 54:17 says “No weapon formed against thee shall prosper...” We must be of good courage
because we are more than just conquerors and we always win. Cease not to fight - your goals are just ahead.

In the world today there is a lot of fighting going on. There is fighting in the home, school, community and even in the
churches. Some fights are senseless while others have some valid reason behind it. Okay now that I have your attention
let me continue. Don’t get me wrong all fights are not bad when you are fighting for what is right. So let me take you on a
little journey. We have many patriarchs who fought for what they felt was right. Were they wrong? Of course not! Let us
look at our ancestors the Slaves, they were taken from their native home and brought to America against their will. They
worked hard to help other have what they felt was a luxury lifestyle. They planted crops, cooked in the kitchen and served
their masters. They had no rights and were seen as worthless property. What a life! They fought to become free and to be
seen as human beings and not as property.
This fight carried over into the 19th century when African American were belittled and seen as nobodies. They had to deal
with segregation laws. They were seen as separate but not equal. Martin Luther King Jr was another patriarch who stood
for what he felt was right. He marched and fought for the black race to have equal rights and not be mistreated or degraded by other races. Women are also patriarchs who fought for what they felt was right. They fought for the right to vote
and to be paid equally in the workplace. As I fore stated, people fight everyday for one reason or another. I know you are
probably saying to yourself, what all this has to do with the theme: “Cease Not To Fight – Your Goals Are Just Ahead!” In
the spiritual realm we too fight. We have to fight but not with our hands because it is spiritual warfare.
Ephesians 6:12 states that we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the
rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. So the Bible confirms that we as Christians fight. But it also gives us instruction about how to handle ourselves while fighting. First of all it tells that we have to
be dressed in a certain attire to fight. According to Ephesians 6:14-18 it tells us to stand with our loins girt about with truth,
wearing the breastplate of righteousness, having our feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, taking the
shield of faith, taking the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. The Word of God also
tells us what to do while we are fighting in Ephesians 6:18 which states that we should be praying always with all prayer
and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.
In this Spiritual fight we cannot give up but we must endure to the end. We have to fight through fasting and praying. We
have to keep this flesh under subjection. We have to read our Word and meditate on it day and night. We have to know
how to use the Word to fight by cutting up the Devil when he tries to attack our mind. We have to serve God with our
whole heart and withhold nothing from Him. We have to give ourselves over to Him. In this fight there is no need to think
about putting up your fist and knocking someone out. We have to know that the fight is fixed because Jesus paid the
ultimate sacrifice for us y being a ransom and giving his life for us to be victorious and have eternal life. All we have to do
is use the road map He has given us which is His Word. We fight from our knees because when we humbly submit ourselves before God, He will fight our battles. So “Cease Not To Fight – Your Goals Are Just Ahead!” Keep on serving God,
fasting and praying, reading his Word and you shall reach your goal Heaven!

Philippians 3:13-14 says, “13No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly
prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. (NLT)”
As a college student, these are the times when setting goals and doing what it takes to be successful matters the most.
What I will accomplish and experience in my college career will help me to succeed later on in life. Setting goals is something I have always done and as I grew in my understanding of the word, I learned that goals are simply faith statements.
“For we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7 KJV), But without faith is it impossible to please him… (Hebrews
11:6 KJV), and …According to your faith be it unto you. (Matthew 9:29 KJV)”
Goals can be used as a “map” to guide you toward your God-given purpose. Without setting goals you will wander in
circles without getting to where you need to go.
Setting goals is not unspiritual
Many times Christians think, “Goal setting shows a lack of trust. It’s not right to plan. Instead we should wait for God to
lead us.”
Yes, God does not want us to move ahead with pride without consulting Him for direction. But neither does He want us to
sit around without acting.
Forging ahead without seeking God or sitting back and doing nothing can stem from fear or lack of faith. However, setting
goals and consulting God shows that you trust Him and believe that He is able to lead while you are moving forward.
As a believer of Christ, faith is a daily operation in my life. When making goals I am basically saying to God, “I believe
you want me to accomplish this by a certain time.” If there is not a time limit, then it is not a goal, but simply a dream or a
wish. Wishes come a dime a dozen and essentially means that you do not trust God to do what it is. Matthew 17:20 says,
“And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard
seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you (KJV).” In order to experience change in your life, you must set goals. You have to wake up from the dream
and go to work!
Revelation of God’s will is limited and progressive – your goals may change.
In school or life in general, we come across people who talk in details. This means they tell you who, what, when, where,
why and how when telling a story. This can also be called a “circular communicator” – they start with a topic, talk in a
circle while adding details and then, tie all the information together.
Many times as Christians, we want Christ to be a “circular communicator.” We believe that having more details about
God’s plan for our life would guarantee that we would not ruin our life by stepping out of His will.
Sadly, this is a common mistake with many Christians, myself included. We assume that God needs to give us the entire
picture of how our purpose will play out before we set goals. This is caused by fear or lack of trust. We are afraid or don’t
trust that God is in control of our future and purpose, so we demand to hear from Him in the same way that a person may
talk in details.
Yes, God can do anything, but God doesn’t give all the details at once. He often provides the right amount of information
to help us move forward a step at a time. Because of this, our faith is able to grow. This does not mean we shouldn’t
set goals. Instead, we should trust Him to lead us to the unknown, and that we may need to reevaluate and change our
goals as He gives us more information.
Throughout school, I have set goals and thought that I had everything figured out just because I was on track to obtaining
a specific goal. Then God came by and hit me with a “curveball”—so I thought.
But it was then that I was reminded that as I progress in my purpose and God begins to revel more information to me,
and I keep open communication with Him, and pay attention to the sign He provides along the way I can be confident
that He will show me when I am in – and out – of His will.
Through my faith journey, I learned that a FAITH goal has five characteristics:

The Messenger
Focused. Your goal has to be specific and something you can measure
Attainable. Don’t set unrealistic goals. Set a goal that stretches you and then trust God will help you stretch
Individual. Your goal must be personal. You cannot set goals for other people because you cannot control them. The only
way to seek change in others is to change yourself.
Trackable. Trackable goals can be measured and are verifiable. Put a deadline on your goal. Remember without a date, it
isn’t a goal.
Heartfelt. Never set a goal you aren’t passionate about. You have to have the desire in order to accomplish it
Goals help give life to the dreams you’ve given up on. There is no doubt that God wants you to fulfill your purpose. In fact,
it’s your duty since He has given you the talents to do so. Take a look at the dreams that you may have given up on and
turn them into goals and watch what God does! Finally, remember that the world does not rest on your shoulder and you
will make mistakes in setting goals. It’s OK. The LORD says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will
advise you and watch over you. (Psalms 32:8 NLT)”

Our purpose is to serve God as the national youth department of the Way of the
Cross Church of Christ International.
Our mission is to recruit, train, and empower youth to become Christian ambassadors by emphasizing evangelism, salvation, worship, discipleship, fellowship, leadership, and scholarship.
Our vision is to become a church body that continuously produces saved and successful youth who will make a positive impact on their homes, schools, communities, churches, and careers.
Core Principles
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
Evangelism - We will obey the great commission of Jesus Christ to go into all the
world and preach the Gospel to every creature (Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8).
Salvation - We will proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, compelling youth to live
saved and holy lives in anticipation of the eminent return of Jesus Christ (John 3:57; Acts 2:38; Romans 13:11-12).
Worship - We will plan powerful and anointed worship services that allow youth
of all ages to praise and glorify God freely in the beauty of holiness (Psalms 150:1-6;
Matthew 21:16; John 4:23-24).
Discipleship - We will teach and train our youth in the Word of God empowering
them to apply it successfully in their daily lives (Proverbs 22:6; Colossians 2:6-8).
Fellowship - We will provide opportunities for our youth to fellowship in ways
that will foster unity and strength (Psalms 133:1; Luke 22:32; Acts 2:42; Hebrews
10:25).
Leadership - We will prepare our youth to be the leaders of today rather than just
leaders of tomorrow (Jeremiah 1:4-10; I Timothy 4:12).
Scholarship - We will encourage our youth to pursue academic and
professional excellence while keeping Christ first and foremost in
their lives (Genesis 41:37-46; Esther 4:10-17; Daniel 1:3-20).
In MEMORIAM
The National Youth for Christ would like to take
the opportunity to salute two laborers who have
gone on to your reward. For we know that only
what you do for Christ will last, and we know that
your labors will not be in vain. The lasting imprint
of your sacrifice in Christ will not be forgotten.
