About the Club
By Mike Rey
MOCSEM President
The Mustang Owners Club of Southeastern
Michigan (MOCSEM) was founded in November
1975 by a group of individuals with the desire to
protect and preserve the Ford Mustang as one of
the most attractive and fun filled cars ever made.
We are enthusiasts of all ages with a love affair
with the many generations of America’s Premiere
Pony Car. Whether it’s a coupe, convertible or
fastback from 1964½ to the 2013 GT or the 2004
Cobra, we love them all. The mission of club
members is to collect, restore and preserve the
history of the Mustang along with the stories of the
people and the roles that they played in making this
one of the great cars of the 20th Century. Although
ownership is not a requirement for membership,
your enthusiasm, expertise, and / or love of the
automobile are most welcome.
Special Request to All Members
I would like to make a special request from all
members. I would like you to email me at
[email protected] with your favorite MOCSEM
moment in the club so far.
Send your fave moment, name, and what year
you have been a member since.
Example:
General Meeting at Ford WHQ........Mike Rey.
Member since 2005
I would love to compile these over the next few
weeks and include them all in the special
edition Mustang Memories newsletter for all to
enjoy. These amazing moments you have
enjoyed while being in the club can be shared
with our 725+ member households and for all
of the readers of the newsletter and website. It
will tell the story of all of the amazing benefits
we offer to our members and the lasting
impressions those events leave with people!
Please keep it to no more than a small
paragraph, but please start emailing me these
ASAP, so I can start compiling them all, for
everyone to enjoy!
Thank you, guys and gals!
Many of our club members own one or more
Mustangs in varying body styles, models and years.
Club members are always exchanging information,
providing sources for parts, literature and helpful
hints for restoring or maintaining their Mustangs.
Our members are a diverse group of individuals,
located throughout Southeastern Michigan and all
share a great appreciation for the Ford Mustang.
Our general membership meetings are held on the
second Tuesday of each month. Our monthly
newsletter, The Accelerator, provides the members
with reports on club activities, technical information,
advertisements and business service locations and
more. Some club activities include car shows,
picnics, sporting events, cruise nights and technical
sessions.

We're Never Done
By Jim Westfall
MOCSEM Member
Photos by Gary Brewer
My first Mustang was a brand new 1974
Mustang II. I had the car for about two years
and sold it because of a job change. I always
wondered when I would ever get another one.
Well it took until 2009. I had been looking for
about six months, and then found my 2008
Mustang GT convertible at the Bill Brown Ford
used car lot. The car was mostly stock except
for the blue stripes and 14,000 miles.
I started making changes right away. First I
replaced the hood, then the rear spoiler, the
tires and wheels. Next, I added the Saleen S281 front fascia, light bar, and tonneau cover.
Then I lowered the car, added cold air intake
and Ford Racing exhaust. I have continued to
make many more changes since then. The
most significant change took place this past
winter. I had the car painted White Pearl by Ice
Nine Customs. I then had the seats and
console customized with white inserts.
And now, at the end of summer, I think my car
is looking great. Am I done with all the
changes? I think we all know our cars are
never done!
