Tips From The Pro
An Exercise to Improve Your Putting
One of the exercises that I do in almost every lesson with my juniors is
that I have them hit 10 putts from about 10 feet with only their left
hand and then they repeat that using only their right hand. They then
hit ten more using both hands. We always pay attention to the rhythm
and timing of the stroke as well as the length of the backswing and
follow-through. Of course proper speed control is always of the utmost
importance. Try this little exercise when you come to the course or at
home and I guarantee you will become a better putter.
My personal favorite season for golf is almost here. Hope to see you

2015 Junior Academy Golf Program
The fall academy began on August 24th and the juniors love it! It is great to see new juniors learning this
game. We also have juniors that are back to learn and improve their golf game.
Congratulations to Thomas Brumbeloe! He was one of several BridgeMill juniors that qualified to play in the
Optimist International in Palm Beach in July. Thomas made a hole in one on a 170 yard par three! That is
a day that he will never forget. It was also his 14 birthday!
Thank you Molly McGrory of RE/MAX for your continued support of junior golf. The BridgeMill Junior Golf
Championship was again sponsored by Molly McGrory and was worth double McGrory Cup points for the
winners. This year we set a record for players and had over 40 juniors participate in the championship.
Congratulations to the following juniors for winning their divisions: Miles Ruff, Harrison Smith, Brennan
Hogan, Connor Macmillan, Jace Butcher, Robbie Macmillan and Lindsay Wayland. Runner-ups were: Noah
Powell, Thomas Brumbeloe, Brayden Morgan, Noah York, Walker Gilbert, Livi Butcher and Caroline Goddard.
Congratulations to all of the juniors for their great play!
The PGA Junior League regular season has concluded, but several of our juniors made the teams.
Our
developmental team had 4 members on the all-star team and played. Their season has concluded. Our
competitive team had 5 members represent the Roswell League All-Star team. They advanced to the third
round of the single-elimination season. It was a close match, but the Alpharetta League will advance to the
final four in Stone Mountain. Congratulations to all of our players on a great season.

MGA News
The MGA had its 2nd Saturday Social golf event, the Taste of BridgeMill. 64 players turn out for
a great day of food, fun and Golf. We had 4 local restaurants participate in the event. On Hole 4
The Snug from downtown Canton gave golfers short rib tacos that were awesome!!!
Hole # 6, Wicked Wings offered two different flavors of buffalo wings and a coupon for a free
pitcher of beer if you hit the green on your tee shot! Woo Hoo! Free Beer
Hole # 13, a frozen Margarita Machine from our buddy Fernando who owns the new Los Palmas
in Holly Springs. Very tasty!
Hole # 16, the Corner Bucher Shop gave away beef jerky and samples of a variety of salsas.

BridgeMill Ladies Golf Association is in the middle of our season and it has been an active one, as usual. August Girl’s
Night Out was the fun and popular pool party at Arlene Campbell’s home. We all enjoyed a great evening of visiting,
good food and delicious drinks served pool side in Arlene’s park like yard. We shared salads brought by members and
the club provided water, wine and dessert. Thanks, Arlene, for your generous hospitality!
Saturday, August 22nd was our Blind Team Tournament. Each golfer drew a number at the beginning of play and
the blind teams were formed by the golf pros. It was fun to see who your teammates were once all the scores were
tallied. We all enjoyed a cool sandwich/salad lunch prepared at Featherstones Grille. Thanks so much to Molly
McGrory of ReMax Town and Country Realty for sponsoring this tournament!
Remember, we have tee times reserved for ladies on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings. Call the club to
reserve a spot for the day that is best for you and arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the tee time. Reminder, if you
cannot make it after reserving a spot please cancel so someone else can take your place.
It takes a lot of volunteers to keep our club organized and we have a few positions opening at the end of this year. If
you are interested in volunteering for our club, please contact Jean Landmesser at [email protected] and
Jean will help you decide which position would suit your personality and talents. There is something for everyone, so
think about it and we hope you will step forward to help keep our club active with tournaments and socials for next
year.

Learn to Play Tennis 1-2-3
Calling all those that want to play tennis but have been afraid to try! Now is
your chance to try tennis in a fun, relaxed, no pressure environment. Clinic
series is designed to introduce the basics of tennis. The fundamentals of
each shot are covered including ground strokes, volleys, serving and an
introduction of how to play a match. Tennis is a great way to keep fit and
have fun! Classes meet once a week and sessions are offered throughout the
year. The program is open to all Members and non-members. Check with

BridgeMill Adult Tennis Academy
Our Adult Program at BridgeMill is designed to meet the needs of our adult
players to help you get more out of your tennis game. Whether you are
looking for high intensity, cardio-type, playing situation or technique focused
drills we have a spot for you. All of our teaching staff have years of coaching
and playing experience and are fully qualified to help you take your game to
the next level. Drill options currently available are listed below. These days
and times are subject to change so check the BridgeMill website calendar for
an up to date listing of available drill
Game Improvement Doubles Situation Drills
Monday 7:00 - 8:30pm, Friday 9:30 - 11:00am, Saturday 10:00-11:30am
90 Minutes of playing out doubles points. Good practice drills for doubles with
the opportunity to play points against different people. Please register in
advance to guarantee your spot. These are the current drill days and times
but check the club calendar for more offerings or changes.
“Vnamic” Game Improvement Drills
These drills will focus on a variety of areas and are designed to improve
your game in an affordable, group setting.. Topics will include footwork, stroke technique, strategy and high intensity training. Groups
will be kept small to ensure good instruction. These are the current
drill days and times but check the club calendar for more offerings or
changes. Fee: $16.00 – Golf/Tennis member, $18.00 – Athletic member, $20.00 – non-member.

ensures that the right person is on
the right court. Also, if any changes
need to be made, you can be
notified during check in. This helps
the Shop Staff know what courts are
being used and who is on them. It
will also keep you from being
bumped off the court mid-match.
The tennis courts are for BridgeMill
Athletic Club Members and their
accompanied guests only. Guest
fees are $10.00/person. Athletic
Members and their guests are also
required to pay the $10.00/person
court fee. Court fees should be paid
before play. Unaccompanied guests
are not allowed to use the tennis
courts at any time.
We are inviting top tennis pros from all over Atlanta to partner up with
our Members in this Pro/Am doubles tournament. Don’t miss out on
this fun, social and competitive tournament where you will be able to
spend hours on the court with a top pro as your partner! Everyone in
the event will play multiple rounds on Saturday with their pro partner.
On Sunday the semis and finals will be played. There will be food and
drinks at the courts and a player party on Saturday evening. The cost
for the event is $125/Member which will go to the costs for the pros,
food, drinks and prizes.
We are currently accepting sponsors for this event! Sponsor and entry
fees will be used for the Pro Am event. If you would like to be part of

Our Junior Program at BridgeMill is designed to meet the needs of all our
junior players from 5 years of age and up; from recreational to advanced
tournament players. The goal of our program is to instill in our youth a love
for the game of tennis. We strive to develop self-motivated young people
who want to practice and then practice some more. We encourage and
foster a healthy, active lifestyle that they can carry with them throughout their
lives. All of our teaching professionals have a passion for the game of tennis
and they are here to ignite this passion in your child!

Juniors with little or no tennis experience will learn the fundamentals of

in the Tennis Pro Shop.

These groups are for juniors with some experience all the way up to
advanced players. Players are divided by ability level and age within
each category. Players should have a desire to reach the next level of
their game. All groups include high intensity tennis drills focusing on
proper strokes, footwork, fitness, strategy and mental toughness.
Students work and train hard but also have fun! These groups are held
throughout the school year. Players can drill one or two days a week.

Service League
Bridge Mill Sixes Service League is now in full swing for the fall & winter. Meetings take place at the Terrace
the third Thursday of the month at 7:00pm. If you are not a member, why not consider joining? What have
you been waiting for? We are always looking to welcome new members. Our current members range in age
from mother’s with elementary aged children to seniors. Some members are married and some are single. I
know you’ve been telling yourself that you want to meet some new friends. Stop by the Terrace to see if we
are a fit. In addition to raising money for our community, we also play Bunco, enjoy Book Clubs and go out to

Autumn will be upon us in a few weeks. The leaves will be changing before we know it. That means it will be
perfect weather for Golf. Please save the date for our Sixth Annual Golf Fore Charity that will be held at Our
Golf Course on October 2nd. If you are not a golfer you can still stop by Featherstones to place a bid for our
Silent Auction. In past years some of the Silent Auction items were vacations, spa treatments, jewelry, signed
memorabilia, bottles of wine, and art pieces. Proceeds will help us give back to Cherokee County
organizations such as BEATS, CFVC, CASA, Angel House, Goshen Valley Boys Ranch, MUST Ministries, Papa’s
Pantry, The Hope Center, Turn Around Ministries, Reinhardt University Scholarships, Give A Kid A Chance, and
Relay for Life, to name a few. We’re still looking for sponsors and golfers. Please register to Golf at

changed to Heritage Property Management to manage the business affairs of the Association.
Iraci Pennachio will be your new interim community manager. Customer Service is our number one
