A Word From the President
Hello everyone it’s about time you think? Sorry I am a
little late on getting this issue done my goal was July
but better late than never I hope.
The rental car business has been busy so my time to

as some TMCCC and Oklahoma. Our real next meeting won’t be until the Xmas party and that is TBA. Ok

2013 Redline Race Series Rules
$10.00 (paid to LSPBC) to bracket race, you must be a current LSPBC member to enter and your vehicle must be
Buick or Buick powered in order to be eligible for Buick points. Vehicles that are Non Buick or Non Buick powered
will be eligible for Non Buick points (see Points below) Memberships and renewals are available on location.
1. Street cars only*, No delay boxes, and No throttle stops are allowed.
2. Any tire is ok. DO NOT burnout past the starting line. This will result in an automatic disqualification.
3. You may race any brand/model of car you want and win money at the monthly races and be eligible for the point
series.
4. You must be a paid club member to run brackets. Club dues are $25 annually.
5. The monthly payouts are pending car count. Therefore, more cars = a higher payout. Payouts are for 1st, 2nd &
3rd places.
All time trials will be run out of lane 4 with one exception. If you are running street tires and get in line early,
6:30pm, please line up in lane 3 for your first pass. Redline officials like to run cars with slicks for the first 10-15
pairings from lane 4. We do not want to block lane 4 with street tire cars early. All time trials will be out of lane 4 after 7pm for LSPBC racers.
2013 Rule Additions:
1. All LSPBC racers are required to meet in the pits with the race director at 8:30pm to pay their entry fee and
draw for positions. Drawing order will determine your position on the standard "Sportsman Ladder" rather than
your qualifying time. Do not be late or you will be left out!*
2. The ladder will be set up prior to 9:00pm to determine the pairings or bye run if applicable.
3. The higher seeded racer for each pairing will have lane choice.
4. All eliminations will be out of lanes 5 and 6 and start at 9pm sharp.
5. Breaking or not showing will result in an automatic loss and a win for your opponent. You must stage and break
the starting line beams under your vehicle's own power to receive credit.
6. Redline has requested that the racers to be ready to run in 5 minutes from when they call us to the lanes.
Therefore, know who your opponent for the next round is as soon as possible.
Buick or Buick Powered Points:
10 points are earned for each round in which you make a qualified run.
5 bonus points will awarded to the event winner.
Non-Buick or Non-Buick Powered Points:
9 points are earned for each round in which you will make a qualified run.
4 bonus points will be awarded to the event winner.
All points are assigned to the driver:
This will allow a driver to cumulatively earn either Buick or Non Buick points at each event based on the vehicle registered. A driver will not be eligible for both Buick and Non-Buick points at the same race event.
The top three season points leaders will be awarded at the year end LSPBC Christmas party. ($$$ TBD)

TMCCC 2013
“Welcome to the Texas Muscle Car Club Challenge. The TMCCC is the largest club against club racing
series in the country and possibly the world. It was founded by a group of muscle car owners that liked to
race their cars but didn't want to race in a weekly bracket series. Soon after the first few events, more
clubs in the area started showing interest and before you knew it, the series had grown into 9 events covering most of north Texas and Oklahoma. With car counts exceeding 200 at many of the races, we have
proven that muscle cars are here to stay.”
“Every club races for points to see who are the true champions in the muscle car world and a driver reward program tracks individual drivers points to see who is the best in each class. Each year there is a
rewards banquet where the top clubs and drivers are honored and presented with very nice trophies and
prizes. The overall points champion also receives free entry to all of the next years races.“

LSPBC Dyno Event @ TrueStreet Motorsports
We had 19 cars hit the dyno at True Street Motorsports in McKinney, thanks to Clint Davis the owner and his
crew. They did a great job getting the best out of our TR’s on the dyno. Lunch was served by the shop as well I
don’t think anyone left hungry. All in all it was a nice event. We even had a couple of members have there TR put
on a lift for a few minor repairs. Nice clean shop and a good crew. Congrats to our class winners Levi Taylor
and Larry Johnson.

Trucks too!
Let’s get this show on the road
And GTO’s
Ok we ‘re rolling!
HRPT 2013 Bodacious BBQ GTG
We had a small GTG at Bodacious BBQ in Arlington to kick off the HRPT. We did have quite a few cars coming
and going during the 3 hours that we had the back room reserved. Here are a few shots of the cars.
The 2013 Hot Rod Power Tour Experience
- Victor Segovia & Phillip Madden
The Hot Rod Power Tour this year started out in Arlington (TX) and rolled for 7 days through Texarkana
(TX), Little Rock (AR), Memphis (TN), Birmingham (AL), Chattanooga (TN), and then on to Charlotte
(NC). The first day started out with a bang in Arlington with a party to commemorate the beginning of the
tour. The club members who caravanned together most of the way cruised to the party and joined the
celebration. Lots of great, awesome rides overflowed the parking grounds at the University of Texas. It
was a spectacular gathering for all gear heads.
The following morning, the Tour took off towards Texarkana. The LSPBC crew included myself, (Victor Segovia), Rob and Tammy Downey, Phillip Madden, Mike and Tom Mahalik, Stan Davis, Johnny Verdichizzi, and
our two Ohio Buick enthusiast friends, Chris Lance and Corey Rex. We all met up in Terrell (TX) and took off
from there as a group. The day started out fine and dandy but while in route that morning there was a small
mishap right outside of Pittsburg (TX). There was a four car incident or collision that caused me (Vic) to run
off the road and scuff up the front bottom of my T Type. A young driver on opposite side hit two trucks before
coming straight at me in my lane. I had no choice but to go sailing into the adjacent field to
save my life and car. It
was a scary deal, but neither were hurt to badly.
Thanks to all who helped
in the matter.
Special
thanks goes to Mike Mahalik for driving my car
from there into the Texarkana fairgrounds.
The
tour continued with the
party in Texarkana where
we lounged in front of our
hotel sipping on cold
drinks and checking out
other rides.
The next day we continued the caravan into Little
Rock. This particular leg was quite beautiful. We were
in the Ozarks and near Hot Springs. Both of theses
areas have great greenery and awesome back roads
which make for good cruising. The route and roads
were just such an awesome sight that we rolled down
our windows and enjoyed the view and fresh air. Once
in Little Rock, we met up with the HRPT party at the
state fair complex. There were a ton of classics running around as expected. The next day we preceded
onto Memphis through back farm to market roads,
again the sight was spectacular and made the cruise
that much more enjoyable. While in route we pulled
over to take in some pictures and watch the HRPT
pass. Hundreds and hundreds of classic cars in route. We took a good hour watching and videoing cars
and while doing this some of the HRPT staff stopped off to rest and take pictures for the magazine too.
One of the staff members Dennis) came over and entertained us for about 20 minutes or so by sharing
stories with us. We asked him if he or HRPT knew about how
many vehicles were on the tour this year. I believe he stated that
about 3500 were signed up but at any giving time there were
anywhere from 3 to 4 thousand on the road. The people were so
many that throughout the route we witnessed restaurants were
jammed packed and probably ran out of food, fuel stations were
packed and ran out of fuel, bottle necks through small towns,
and lines of jammed classic vehicles for miles and miles and for
hours and hours . It was total mayhem but with the cool kind to
have to deal with, it is something to experience for sure. The
party continued into Memphis where we took a break and went
to Beale street to relax a bit and guess who overflowed that
place too? Yep.... The gear heads were everywhere and guess
which two famous ones we ran into, talked to and took pictures
with? Mr. Top Gear, Rutledge Wood and the very beautiful famous Courtney Hansen. Both awesome people to talk too and
were very friendly.
It was now Wednesday morning and after a couple of days on the tour
you begin to figure out that about 150 to 200 miles with 3000 other
cars can take all day. Victor turned back home after Memphis and
Johnny had turned back after Texarkana. The LSPBC faction was
now down to 4 cars: Chris’ 72 Skylark, my (Phillip) 87 Gary T, Mike’s
GN and Rob & Tammy’s 99 TA. We were Long Haulers. The
Wednesday route was 296 miles and we were heading towards rain
so we decided to peel off and take the highway to Birmingham. Many
other HRPT cars did the same. Chris’ car was “feeling lazy” he said,
so once in Birmingham he bought a dwell meter and points and had
the Motor-Medics from GM tune his car at the event.
They jumped right on his car because he had the parts he needed.
It’s a great service the GM guys provide and will do just about any repair if you have the parts. Today was RideTech Autocross at the Hoover stadium so we watched some of that but I could not talk Mike into
auto-crossing even though this is his specialty. At the event we acquired some Surf City Garage Barrier Reef car wash soap and we
washed our cars in the pouring rain at the hotel. We were wet from
swimming so it was all good. Our cars looked great in the morning.
The Thursday route was 200 miles to Chattanooga and was very scenic up towards Lookout Mountain. We
decided to run the route but we left at 7 AM so we could get out ahead of the Detroit Rock City Heavy Metal
traffic jam. The morning was sunny and cool and perfect for cruising sans windows. Each car ran perfect
this day and we stopped for groceries in a small mountain town and then had lunch at Canyon Land State
Park in Georgia. It was very pretty in the park. See photo. The Cruise In tonight was at the Honest Charley
Garage and Coker Tire. There was live music, food trucks and Corky Coker has an amazing collection of
pre WWII bikes and cars. Just amazing! We all had fun and I ran into some HRPT buddies I had meet back
in 2010. I lost a center cap in Chattanooga on that Power Tour and I lost one this time in Chattanooga as
well. Fortunately for me, Rob saw it fly off and we were able to retrieve it later.
Friday was the final leg of the Power Tour: 352 miles on the route with a stop in Mooresville at RoushYates racing for lunch. It was rainy and foggy when we left at 06:00(AM) so the three of us opted for the
interstate and Rob & Tammy took the route 100 miles across the Mountains and then down the interstate.
Chris Corey, the Mahalik’s and myself headed to Knoxville and then south towards Charlotte. At our first
gas stop Chris noticed his Radiator reserve was boiling. We checked the temp and it was 230 degrees.
Chris and his mechanic (via phone) diagnosed the clutch fan as bad and fortunately for us, AutoZone is
nearby. We were able to get a non-switched unit to limp to Charlotte with. Chris headed straight to Charlotte and we decided to stop at Roush-Yates.
The place is really cool and they are selling NASCAR engines for $42,000 if you want one. There is also a
North Carolina NASCAR Hall of Fame with a ton of vintage NASCAR’s in it. Mike, Tom and I finally made it
to Charlotte and joined the rest of the gang at the event. We then headed over to the stands to watch the
World Record 75 Car simultaneous burnout. Many cars shifted sideways and hit the car beside them as the
smoke was so thick people could not see what was happening. I’m glad we were among spectators! At dinner that evening it started raining and it rained all night. Everyone was tired and the hotel parking lot party
was slow.
Saturday is the day for the Long Hauler awards and pictures. It was misting rain and a nasty day. Chris
and Corey left for home at 06:00(AM) because his car was running hot. He had 350 miles to get home to
Ohio and would be running solo. I could tell he was worried. The rest of us attended the awards and pictures and bugged out at 10:00(AM). Rob and Tammy stayed in North Carolina to visit their daughter while
the Mahalik’s and I headed south toward Atlanta and I-20 for the next 900 miles home. Chris and Corey
called us to let us know they had made it home. We kept the hammer down and covered 850 miles to
Shreveport (LA) before stopping for the night. At every gas stop people wanted to talk to us about the two
Buicks. We passed many Long Haulers on the way home and even picked up a Corvette guy from Hurst
that hung on Mike’s back bumper all the way home. Yeah, we slowed down for him. We left Shreveport
at 06:30(AM) and made it home in the pouring rain at about 09:30(AM). Ready for next year!
