Mercedes-Benz Gelaendewagen stock and custom wheels 1979 - 2008
Valid for all Mercedes-Benz Gelaendewagen wheels: they have a 5/130 mm bolt circle (5 on 130 mm bolt
pattern) , ball seats (vey important), 84.1 mm (3.310") center bore (also very important), ET 63 mm on most
stock wheels (the European form of back spacing)- on wider wheels ET (Einpresstiefe) is around 50 mm.
And before you ask - No, no other Mercedes-Benz car wheels (like M-Class, S-Class etc.) will fit! However,
since they are very similar and with some modification wheels from other makes can fit. They are Porsche,
Pinzgauer, Mercedes/Dodge Sprinter
Less than ET 63 mm will make the wheels stick out farther (see CW/Borbet wheels down the list).
Since 460 axles are narrower than 463 axles (by 25 mm on each side) use of 463 alloy wheels will make the tires to sit too
far inside the fender well of a 460 - therefore spacers of at least 30 mm are mandatory. Otherwise the tires will rub on the
inside (steering arm and control arms). Please note that 460 alloy wheels have a different ET than the steel wheels to
create the necessary space for wider tires.
The 16" steel wheels of the 460 series will not fit on 463 axles without spacers. Otherwise the shape of the steel wheels will
not clear the larger calipers of the 463.
Attention: when changing from steel wheels to alloy wheels you will need longer bolts!
