apples, wine and pumpkins.
Landschaft und Klima bereiten den idealen fruchtbaren Boden für die
steirischen Spezialitäten auf. Die Kreativität der saisonalen, regionaltypischen
Küche wird von den 117 ausgewählten Kulinarium Steiermark-Wirten mit
Liebe vermittelt.
The landscape and climate provide the perfect fertile soil for Styrian
specialities. The 117 select Kulinarium Steiermark (Styrian Culinary Delights)
establishments lovingly display their creativity in their wide range of seasonal
and regional cuisine.
Der Wein – das Herzstück steirischer Gaumenfreuden – erlangt an sonnenverwöhnten Hängen international anerkannte Qualitäten vom Weiß- über
Rotwein bis hin zum einzigartigen Schilcher aus der Wildbacherrebe. Schon
vor 2.500 Jahren wurden auf dem Gebiet der Steiermark von den Kelten
wildwachsende Reben genutzt. Kultiviert und verbreitet haben den Weinbau
aber erst die Römer. Heute zählen die drei steirischen Traubenanbaugebiete
im Süden, Westen und Südosten, wo für ca. 28 Mio. 0,7 Liter-Flaschen Wein
gekeltert wird, zu den landschaftlich schönsten Weingegenden der Welt.
On sun-drenched hills, wine – the heart and soul of Styrian delicacies – achieves internationally recognised qualities, covering everything from white to red
wine as well as including the unique Schilcher wine made from Wildbacher
grapes. The Celts already began using wild grapes in the region of Styria
2,500 years ago, but the Romans were the first to cultivate and spread the
art of winegrowing. Today, the three grape growing regions of Southern,
Western and Southeastern Styria, where around 28 million 0.7 litre bottles of
wine are produced, have some of the most beautiful landscape of any winegrowing region in the world.
Weitere kulinarische Superlative: Österreichs größtes Apfelanbaugebiet in der
Oststeiermark. Europas größtes zusammenhängendes Kren-Anbaugebiet.
Und die Kürbisse, aus denen bestes Kernöl gepresst wird. Das „grüne Gold“
glänzt tiefgrün, duftet nussig und ist intensiv im Geschmack.
Dazu gibt’s natürlich bissfeste Köstlichkeiten, die man sowohl in einer urigen
Buschenschenke als auch in den ausgezeichneten Betrieben von Kulinarium
Steiermark genießen kann. Die Steirische Apfelstraße ist ein Geheimtipp,
ebenso das Steirische Vulkanland, dessen Spezialitäten Gourmetherzen
höher schlagen lassen – dort, wo die bekannte Zotter Schokolade herstammt,
und der schmackhafte Vulcano Schinken – oder der Käse, frisch von der
Alm u.v.m.!

Further culinary highlights: Austria’s largest apple growing region in Eastern
Styria. Europe’s largest continuous horseradish growing region. And the
pumpkins, which are pressed to make the best pumpkin seed oil. The “green
gold” shines deep green and has a nutty smell and a strong flavour.
Of course, there are also other treats you can sink your teeth into and enjoy,
either at a rustic wine tavern (Buschenschenke) or in one of the excellent establishments of Kulinarium Steiermark (Styrian Culinary Delights). The Styrian
Apple Route is an insider’s tip, as is the Styrian Volcano Region, whose specialities, such as the famous Zotter chocolate and the savoury volcano ham,
make gourmets’ mouths water, or the cheese, fresh from the alpine pasture,
and much, much more!

THE GREEN HEART OF AUSTRIA
Die Steiermark gibt es ja eigentlich gar nicht. Es ist kein eindimensionales
Phänomen, sondern eine wohl sortierte landschaftliche Vielfalt. Schroffe
Gebirgsmassive wie das Gesäuse oder der Hochschwab. Luftige Berggipfel
wie den Grimming oder den Dachstein - mit 2.995 Metern der höchste
Punkt des Landes. Über 2.800 Meter Unterschied liegen zwischen dem
tiefsten Punkt im Tal und der höchsten Bergspitze und schaffen so das
charakteristische, wie unverwechselbare Kontrastprogramm zwischen
Gletscher, Bergen, Almen, Wäldern, Wiesen und Tälern. Saftige Wiesen
auf der Teichalm, wo sich auf einer Fläche von ca. 100.000 Fußballfeldern
Mitteleuropas größtes Almengebiet gemütlich gemacht hat. Dazwischen
erfrischend kühle, kristallklare Bergseen, wohlig warme Thermalquellen und
jede Menge Bäume. Über 60 Prozent der Steiermark sind bewaldet. „Das
Grüne Herz Österreichs“ – das ist kein Werbeslogan. Es ist die Wahrheit!
Actually there is no such thing as Styria. It is not some kind of one-dimensional phenomenon, but instead a wide variety of landscapes. Rugged mountain
ranges like the Gesäuse or the Hochschwab mountains. Lofty peaks such as
the Grimming or the Dachstein, the highest point in Styria at 2,995 metres.
There is a difference of more than 2,800 metres between the lowest point
in the valley and the highest peak, thus creating the characteristic and
unmistakeable contrast between glaciers, mountains, alpine pastures,
meadows and valleys. Lush meadows on the Teichalm, which is home
to Central Europe‘s largest alpine pasture region covering an area equal
to around 100,000 football fields. In between, refreshingly cool, crystal
clear mountain lakes, cosily warm thermal springs and lots and lots of trees.

Seit die Steiermark 970 n. Chr. erstmals namentlich erwähnt wurde, prägen
Land und Leute ihre Kultur. Traditionen und Bräuche werden von den Steirern
gelebt. Vom Beginn des Jahres an, z.B. mit dem bekannten Ausseer Fasching
oder dem Narzissenfest, bis zum Advent, der mit romantischen Weihnachtsmärkten eingeleitet wird, begleiten Veranstaltungen und Feste das kulturelle
Jahr. Aber nicht nur Kultur aus vergangenen Zeiten ist für die Steiermark
typisch, auch Zeitgeist ist ein Markenzeichen.
Since the first mention of Styria by name in 970 A.D., the land and people
have influenced its culture. Styrians actively practise their traditions and customs. From the beginning of the year, for instance, with the famous Aussee
Carnival or the Daffodil Festival, to Advent, which is heralded by romantic

Zeitalter. Für alle analogen DenkerInnen liegt das österreichische Bundesland
Steiermark im Herzen Europas, an der Grenze zu den EU-Mitgliedsstaaten

Der Tourismusverband Stadt Graz bietet eine finanzielle Förderung in der
Höhe zwischen 2 Prozent und maximal 7,5 Prozent vom Nächtigungsumsatz
in der Grazer Hotellerie an. Als Kriterium gilt eine Mindestanzahl von 300
Nächtigungen in Graz. Der Antrag ist im Vorhinein einzureichen.
Tourismusverband Stadt Graz provides financial support in the amount of
2 to a maximum of 7.5 percent of the overnight stay sales in Graz-based
hotels. A minimum number of 300 overnight stays in Graz is required.

Als eines der modernsten Veranstaltungszentren wurde das Congress-Schladming Ende 2011 eröffnet.
Ausgestattet mit modernster Medien- und Bühnentechnik dient das Gebäude während dem Ski-WeltcupFinale im März 2012 und der FIS Alpinen Ski-Weltmeisterschaften im Februar 2013 als Mediencenter. Ab sofort können die verschiedenen Räumlichkeiten für jede Art von Veranstaltungen gebucht werden. Wir bieten
die Kombination von „Tagen in den Bergen“ und einem vielfältigen Freizeitangebot in schönster Natur.
Besonderheiten: Die Saalgröße von 1.400 m² (teilbar) bestimmt die Einzigartigkeit des Congress-Schladming im ländlichen Raum Österreichs. Nicht nur der KFZ-befahrbare Boden und die modernste Medienund Bühnentechnik ermöglichen es, einen unvergesslichen Event im Zentrum von Österreich durchzuführen.

Congress-Schladming was opened at the end of 2011 as one of the most state-of-the-art convention centres. Equipped with the latest media and stage technology, the building will serve as a media centre during
the finals of the Ski World Cup in March 2012 and the FIS Alpine Skiing World Championship in February
2013. Booking is now open for different rooms and halls for any kind of event. We provide you with a
combination of “meeting in the mountains” and a wide range of leisure time activities in magnificent nature.
Special features: The 1,400 m² hall, which can be divided, is what makes Congress-Schladming unique
in the rural part of Austria. Strengthened floors that can support cars and state-of-the-art media and stage
