Bereavement Support Group
Have you experienced the death of a loved one? Do you feel confused, lonely, angry;
can't eat or sleep? You are not "going crazy" but are "normal." If it has been at least
3 months since the death of your loved one and are interested in attending a support
group, we hope to offer two, 6 week classes beginning Mon Oct 20, 10- 11:30 am in
the Youth Room and an evening session beginning Tue 6-7:30pm in the parish center. We need to have at least 5 people signed up for each session in order for them to
go forward or we may have to just have one class that accommodates the greatest
number of people. Please call Cathy to sign up (562) 631-8844 or [email protected] by Oct 15.

TWENTY-NINTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
DID YOU KNOW?
To know, follow the school’s security measures sets an example to your kids
“Back-to-school does not have to mean back-to-worrying. Though safety inside school is ultimately the responsibility of the principal and school staff, parents can take a few basic steps to ensure a safe school experience.” Know and follow school security and safety measures. These might include signing in when visiting the school, being escorted when walking through the building, or wearing a visitor pass. Following these
procedures also sets a great example for your kids. For more information, please visit
http://www.scholastic.com/parents/resources/article/parent-teacher-partnerships/6-rules-school-safety
¿SABIA USTED?

A Message from the St. Linus School Community…
Greetings, Parishioners and St. Linus School Parents! We would like to invite you to the Blessing of Our Memorial Garden on Oct 24th at 8:00 a.m. The garden is honoring Lauren Landeros,
Rudy Martinez, Christopher Leslie, Edward Perez and Andrew Nuckles. We sincerely thank
Mrs. Esther Moreno, Mrs. Aminy Mociler, Ms. Kathleen Doyle, Mrs. Linda Baum, Mr. Kris Kabar,
Mr. Manuel Alvarado, and the extended family of Andrew Nuckles for making this garden a
reality.
PLEASE SAVE YOUR BOX TOPS
Parents and Parishioners, our school participates in the Box Tops
for Education Program and we would like to ask that you help us
by saving your Box Tops and turn them in to the school office. This
program is very simple: when you buy participating products with
Box Tops Labels on them, cut out the Box Tops, turn them in to
the school and the school earns money! This is yet another, very
simple way to help our school.
Adopt-A-Student Thank you parishioners who have contributed generously and faithfully to
the Adopt-A-Student program. Your monthly donations have helped some of our families in need. Remember, your donation is tax-deductible. May God continue to bless you!
SCRIP available in the school office! SCRIP is available for purchase in our
school office Monday through Friday from 9am – 2pm. Remember to purchase SCRIP gift cards to
use for gifts, grocery shopping, gas, and restaurants. Proceeds from your purchases greatly benefit our
school. If you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to contact our
office at (562) 921-0336. SCRIP order forms are also available in the school office for your convenience.
Your Shopping Benefits Our School –Please Save Your Receipts!!
The School Cents Program is a partnership program with our three local area malls
(Cerritos Mall, Stonewood Center, and Lakewood Center) where our school earns
points every time you shop. All you have to do is save your receipts from any purchases made at these shopping centers and our school receives points for each dollar
spent at the stores, restaurants (yes, even Starbucks!), kiosks/carts, and movie theaters. Please save your receipts and turn them in to the school office or place them in
the collection basket Sunday in an envelope marked: St. Linus School. You may also
stop by the Guest Services Desk at any of the three malls, show them your receipt, let them know you are supporting St. Linus School, and they will stamp your receipt and hand it right back to you.
With Sincere Gratitude,
St. Linus School Community
All children enrolled in Religious Education will be given the Protecting God's
Children Lessons 1 and 2 October 22nd or October 25th. Parents interested
in attending the class with their child must sign in at the Religious Education
Office prior to the start of class. Parents are also welcome to stop by the Religious Education Office next week to pick up a copy of the lesson plans. If you
have any questions, please call us at (562) 921-5179.
