Building Thailand’s Future Road Show at PEACH
A Government organised Road Show which is travelling all over Thailand has now
arrived in Pattaya. From the 15th to 17th October, “Building the Thai Future 2020”
was presented at the Pattaya Exhibition and Convention Hall (PEACH) at the
Royal Cliff Hotel Group in South Pattaya. The road show is to promote government
plans for the future of Thailand, with new infrastructure and an overhaul of public
transport systems, especially the introduction of high speed railways to many
parts of the country. The government has announced approval of future projects
with a 2 trillion baht loan programme to secure funding over the next 7 years to
2020. Government aims are to make a shift from road to rail transport for all major
industrial and agricultural production that will significantly reduce the time and cost
of transportation of products to ASEAN neighbours and other countries in Asia.
Better linkages will lead to the development of new towns, cities and regional hubs
in other parts of Thailand and, ultimately, neighbouring countries and beyond.
This will generate more income and consolidate Thailand’s role as the region’s
connectivity and logistics hub. Better infrastructure can boost demand and support
long-term growth by linking various revenue-generating zones, from industrial
areas to agricultural zones, as well as new destinations for tourists. Faster and
more convenient transportation links will also lead to better productivity. The expo
was opened by H.E. Minister of Transport Chatchart Sitthiphan and attended by
Chonburi Governor Komsan Ekachai and Pattaya Mayor Ittipol Khunplume.

First Meeting of Pattaya
Animal Coalition
The newly established PAC Pattaya Animal Coalition held its
first meeting at 12 Real Estate
in downtown Pattaya after an
initiative by Khun Neo, who has
for many years been taking care
of stray dogs in Thailand. PAC
is a coalition of people and
groups coming together to try
to help the dire animal situation
on the Eastern Seaboard. There
have always been people and
groups (both Thai and foreign)
concerned for the welfare of
animals in Pattaya, but so far
they have not worked together
in a coordinated way. PAC is
looking to be an umbrella
organization and to provide a
spokesperson for the various
groups. PAC will hold regular
meetings and welcome anybody
with an interest to join their
cause. PAC is looking for Thais
and non Thais who, on a regular
basis, take care of street dogs
or animals in Pattaya. These
people are the front line in
bringing some control to the
animal situation because
through familiarity they are
generally trusted by the animals
and not intimidated by them.
The dogs need food, shelter,
good health and population
control. People familiar with
animal behavior can more easily
assist in treatment, vaccinations
and/or spaying. The first
meeting established that there

Jumps off Balcony
Pattaya police were notified by
the Sawang Boriboon rescue
team this week that a
Norwegian expat had fallen to
his death from a balcony at the
Center Condos on South
Pattaya Road. Upon arrival,
the team found 46 year old Mr.
Haagon Helvosen the ground
after jumping from the 6th floor
of the building. His girlfriend of
one month, Miss Cholchanok
stated that he was out of work
and low on money, plus there
were tensions with his family
back in Norway, hence he got
very depressed. At the time of
the incident, he apparently had
a row with her and told her to
leave the room. She went to
the downstairs bar when a
security guard notified her that
Helvosen had jumped off the
balcony of the condo. A report
was made and the Norwegian
embassy in Bangkok has been
notified.
Death of a Mamasan
Bar Mamasan Falls to
Death from Pub
Pattaya police were contacted
this week about a fatality that
had occurred at a pub on Third
Road. Officers went along to
investigate and found the body
of 43 year old Yuranan Nadee
lying on the ground with a
broken neck.
Staff at the Hot Man Pub stated
that he was a mamasan
(manager) at the pub and lived
on the third floor. Apparently,
a few days back he had a row
with his boyfriend and threw
shoes at him, which landed
outside on the next building.
After reconciliation, the
mamasan tried to retrieve the
shoes by jumping onto the next
door building; however, he
slipped and fell to the ground
below. A report was made and
the body was sent to
Banglamung hospital for next
of kin to collect for funeral
procedures.
Police Officer Commended

As a result of recently helping
and saving the life of an
unconscious Finnish expat with
emergency first aid, Police
Senior Sergeant Major Yot
Areewong was presented with
a citation and commendation
this week by Commander of
Chonburi Police Police Major
General Katcha Tatsart and an
award from Superintendent of
Pattaya Police Station, Police
Colonel
Suwan
Chiewnawintawat. The incident
happened at the intersection of
Third and Thappraya Roads
when 78 year old Mr. Matti Veli
collapsed with a suspected
heart attack on the pathway.
Luckily the officer was nearby
and phoned for help then gave
CPR until medics arrived to take
the patient to Pattaya Memorial
Hospital to the emergency room
where he survived.
Snookered
Bar Brawl over a Game of
Snooker
Pattaya police were notified
this week about a fight that had
broken out at a bar on Soi
Buakhao in South Pattaya.
Officers were sent to Markey
Bar where two British men and
a Thai man were still fighting.
Officers managed to stop the
brawl, which started after Mr.
Roy Murray and Mr. Mark
Johnston wanted to play a
game of snooker. They waited
as the table was occupied by
Mr. Banjerd, who had already
completed 3 games. So they
approached him and requested
they have a turn at the table.
For some reason, the Thai
refused and pushed one of the

all hell broke loose until police
arrived. They were all taken
back to the police station where
they were warned and fined

Europe car sales up by most in two years Sales of new
cars in Europe made the biggest gains since 2011, boosted by
the release of new models from Volkswagen and Renault and the
end of a recession that lasted a year and a half in the eurozone.
Registrations jumped to 1.19 million vehicles, 5.5% more than
the same figure a year earlier. Volkswagen saw demand increase
for its main brand, as well as for its Skoda unit and its luxury Audi
division. New versions of VW’s best-selling Golf hatchback, as
well as revamped Audi SUVs helped the healthy sales figures.
Renault also saw deliveries increase by 22%, due to a 40%
surge at the Dacia division. Between 2012 and this year, it
introduced its first compact crossover, the Captur, and new
versions of the Clio, Dacia Sandero and Dacia Logan. Other
carmakers such as BMW, General Motors and Daimler also posted
encouraging gains in Europe. On the other hand, Peugeot and
Fiat continued to slide. Investor confidence in Germany, Europe’s
economic powerhouse as well as its biggest market for cars,
rose to a three-year high this month, while consumer confidence
in the UK, which is the second-largest car market, was at its
highest in September since 2007. British inflation rate
remains stable at 2.7% The inflation rate is used to calculate
the appropriate benefits required by people on state pensions
as well as those for disabled people and their subsequent carers.
September’s consumer prices index (CPI) remained steady at
2.7%, rather than going down to 2.6% as predicted, according
to the Office for National Statistics. This means prices are still
rising faster than people’s wages, which reported a rise of just
1.1% on average over the same period. The retail prices index
(RPI) measure of inflation dropped marginally from 3.3% recorded
in August to 3.2% in September. Food inflation saw little change
also, standing at about 4.8%, on the other hand, while last year
airfares fell as much as 25.2%, thus having an upward impact
on the inflation rate, this year the figure came in at 18.7%.
Because the jobless rate in the UK remains high, the Bank of
PATTAYA PEOPLE WEEKLY ISSUE 416 | SATURDAY 19TH OCTOBER TO SATURDAY 26TH OCTOBER 2013
England will not be increasing interest rates just yet, despite
normally targeting CPI inflation of 2%. This will only happen
when the unemployment rate falls below the 7% margin, in line
with the Bank’s policy of forward guidance. The scenario in which
that might happen is if the inflation rate remains above 2.5% in
18 months to two years’ time. A US default could spark
recession, IMF, World Bank chiefs warn The world could
be heading towards another recession if the US defaults, warned
the head of the International Monetary Fund, Christine Lagarde.
In an interview on an American TV show, she urged policymakers
to raise the debt ceiling before the deadline on Thursday, as a
default would result in “massive disruption the world over”. Her
sentiments were echoed by the president of the World Bank, Jim
Yong Kim, who also expressed his concern over the situation.
He warned that the United States is just “days away from a very
dangerous moment” because of the government’s borrowing
crisis, and that a US default would be particularly disruptive for
developing economies. Although leaders in the US Senate from
both sides of the house held direct talks on Saturday,
correspondents report little signs of a breakthrough, although
Democrat Senator Dick Durbin said the aim was to reach an
agreement before markets reopen on Monday. The US Treasury
has to raise its debt limit by Thursday, otherwise it will start
running short of funds. Finance ministers from other countries
think the US probably won’t default, but the tension is already
having a noticeable effect on markets all over the world. And
US Treasury Secretary Jack Lew has estimated that each week
the government is shut down, 0.25% is lopped off an already
slow quarter of economic growth. Currently the deVere

pension reviews. If you have a UK pension scheme then
it should be reviewed on a regular basis so that you

similar things. You need to take a step backwards to mid November. Go over information
again and you will understand it differently.
ARIES: (Born between 21st March & 20th April) You are best to be patient with others
because it will be difficult for you to ascertain their true position. Whatever direction
they appeared to be taking can change or come to a standstill. It is through observing
the little things they do and attempting to put this together to see what pattern is
forming that can produce answers for you
TAURUS: (Born between 21st April & 20th May) Something from the past involving
somebody else could arise again to mid November, if it was never properly sorted out.
You could also find yourself dealing with similar issues with a person now that you have
experienced in the past with someone else. Don’t get over-whelmed – past experience
will help you cope better.
GEMINI: (Born between 21st May & 20th June) Be mindful of your health to mid
November, particularly if you have had anything that has been hard to fully get over.
You could easily have a relapse in this time. If you have been a little slack with your
general exercise routine it would pay to get yourself back to it. This will ensure that
you keep your physical well being stable.
CANCER: (Born between 21st June & 22nd July) There can be much to enjoy even
though there will also be something serious involved. You might decide you should go
back to something that was relaxing and gave you pleasure in the past. This is likely
to be creative in some way. Anything you have to think about too much, or perhaps
study, could cause you frustration.
LEO: (Born between 23rd July & 22nd August) There will be a strong sense to be
individual in some way and to rid yourself of anything that takes up too much time and
serves little purpose to your main aim. It is also likely you need to re-think the type of
foundation you should have in place for future development of anything you want to
accomplish. No need to rush this.
VIRGO: (Born between 23rd August & 22nd September) Whatever you feel ready to
move forward with may present much more to handle than you had anticipated. You
might have gained different impressions from the way someone else thinks or handles
LIBRA: (Born between 23rd September & 22nd October) Reassessing your finances
may be necessary until mid November. It can be little things that fritter your money
away making you realise you really didn’t need them after all. You also need to think
about how you are going to handle an ever- increasing level of expectation of you to
take on more obligations or responsibilities
SCORPIO: (Born between 23rd October & 21st November) There will be something you
need to reassess from now to the 11th November about yourself or a situation you find
yourself in. If you have a sense of pleasure and enjoyment with what involves you it
will make a huge difference to future success. You have the opportunity for greater
recognition in the next month, so work on it.
SAGITTARIUS: (Born between 22nd November & 21st December) There is a lot going
on behind the scenes. This can involve jealousy and a determination by somebody else
to get you back if they feel you deserve it, rightly or wrongly. You need to focus on
keeping your own situation in balance by assessing what the other person is seeking,
before you make any comment. It won’t be easy.
CAPRICORN: (Born between 22nd December & 19th January) You could come into
contact with friends or people from a group that you have not had any contact with for
a long time, from now until mid November. This re-connection could have longevity into
the future. Any involvement with a new group of people could produce pleasant
surprises. There is more developing than you realise.
AQUARIUS: (Born between 20th January & 18th February) Greater pressure can come
your way with responsibilities you are dealing with. This could be part of developing
greater power in your position where the future is concerned. Even so, there is a need
to reassess what has been expected of you since late September. Don’t be afraid to go
back to the way things were initially.
PISCES: (Born between 19th February & 20th March) You could begin to change your
mind about what you consider important long-term goals. This might be encouraged by
greater pressure now coming from others that you did not initially realise would be the
case. Life is now about fulfilling things that are important to you personally and not
what others think is the right thing for you.

intelligentie, komt “uitleggen”
dat ik met mijn geld solidair
moet zijn met de jongeren.
Wat die domme snotneus niet
weet is dat; WIJ HEBBEN AL
MINSTENS 5 JAAR GEEN
PENSIOENOPSLAG,
DOCH PENSIOENVERLAGING
GEHAD, EN DAT BIJ STEEDS
OPLOPENDE PRIJZEN!!!!
Wij hebben in veel slechtere
tijden geleerd om te zorgen
voor een appeltjevoor de dorst,
Dit in tegenstelling tot de
huidige jeugd die vaak alleen
leert om al hun geld uit te
geven,en rood te staan en dan
weer
bij
pa
aankloppen.Karakterloze
slapjanussen zijn het die het
veel te gemakkelijk hebben
gehad, en niet weten wat
armoede en knokken is voor hun
boterham.
Hebben zij niet genoeg tijd om
zelf te sparen voor hun oude
dag? Of moeten van mijn
spaarcenten ook nog dikke
bonussen van graaiende
bestuurders
van
mijn
pensioenfonds
worden
betaald?
Mag de minister van Financien
zo maar, voor de tweede keer,
een miljardengreep doen in mijn
spaarpot
om
het
begrotingstekort te verlagen,
gelijk Onno Ruding van het
Christen Democratisch Appel
deed? Wat is er gebeurd met
mijn jarenlange bijdrage ten
behoeve van MIJN VUT?
Desgevraagd
aan
de
Buitenland commissie van het
Nederlandse parlement wist de
heer Timmermans in het bijzijn
van een Rijks-scharrelvarken
mij te
vertellen, dat de kamer met de
vakbonden beslissen. Alsof ik
met mijn bakker ga beslissen
wat we gaan doen met zijn
spaargeld en zijn huis 2e op de
Veluwe. Het moet niet gekker
worden.Het zijn een stel legale
dieven en struikrovers zonder
e
n
i
g
verantwoordelijkheidsgevoel.
Gelet op het beleid van de
dame die ik als vleesgeworden
domheid betitel, de minister
van VWS, zou ik graag een pil
van Drion willen hebben. Dan
kan ik zelf op het moment dat
ik vind dat ik genoeg ben
uitgeperst er gewoon
uitstappen. Velen zijn hierdoor
al
manisch
depressief
geworden, en de zelfmoorden
stijgen schrikbarend .Velen zijn
mij inmiddels al voorgegaan
zoals
enkele
goede
bekenden,maar heb de
verantwoordelijkheid voor mijn
2 fantastische jonge kids en wil
deze proberen een goede
toekomst te geven.Niets meer
en minder dan mijn morale en
geciviliseerde plicht, want ben
gelukkig opgevoed met normen
en waarden en respect.
Jammer
voor
mijn
nabestaanden,maar
die
hebben per saldo toch ook
schijt aan mij als er niets te
verdelen valt, en zijn me snel
vergeten.C’est la Vie want zo
nuchter ben ik wel, want weet
wat voor een egoistische
klotenwereld we leven. Heb
diverse
Ned.
kinderen
meegemaakt in Spanje en ook
in Thailand die nooit naar hun
vader
hebben
omgekeken,maar er als de
kippen bij waren toen pa kwam
te overlijden.Ik heb ze allemaal
verteld dat ze niets kregen, en
ze met een rode kaart naar huis
gestuurd.Ik heb dit ook
vermeld in mijn Thaise
testament, dat alleen mijn
kinderen een X bedrag krijgen
als er goed kontakt en
belangstelling is geweest.Een
goede bekende van mij, en een
schat van een man kwam
onlangs te overlijden, en zijn
kinderen hadden altijd partij
getrokken voor de moeder die
ze had gehersenspoeld. 16 jaar
vruchteloos
geprobeerd
kontakt te krijgen, maar op de
crematie zag ik plots 2 kinderen
komen aanrennen. Geen
traan, maar wel de vraag of Pa
nog vermogend was, en waar
zijn huis stond.Vertelde hun dat
er niets te halen viel, en dat hij
vlak voor zijn overlijden was
getrouwd en zijn vrouw een
testament
had
op
de
langstlevende.Dat laatste heb
ik er maar bij verzonnnen,want
haat dat soort haaien.Ken ook
een verhaal waar een zoon van
23 nog even beslag liet leggen
op het vermogen van pa,
omdat hij niet bijdroeg aan zijn
studie op de universiteit
destijds.Hij had al 15 jaar
netjes alimentatie betaald aan
zijn kinderen en ex,die er met
een vermogende fabrikant
vandoor was gegaan.Hij had
bewijzen dat ze een affaire
hadden maar niet bij elkaar
stonden ingeschreven,maar de
rechter wilde niets weten van
een economische eenheid van
zijn ex. Heb toen de grote
detective truc uitgehaald, en
mij voorgedaan als student met
een buurtonderzoek, en pas
toen had ik van alle buren een
getekende verklaring dat ze 6
jaar samen woonden. Pas toen
kreeg hij gelijk, maar de rechter
weigerde dit in te laten gaan
met terugwerkende kracht.Als
dank kreeg ik ook nog even een
sneer en uitbrander van deze
rechter,dat ik dit niet had
mogen doen.Ik vertelde hem
dat ik wel moest zorgen voor
recht omdat hij dit naliet. Mijn
vriend een goed betaalde
ingenieur moest 6 jaar lang,
elke maand 2500 gulden af
staan,en kon ternauwernood
rondkomen. Trouwen zou
verboden moeten worden,en
wees elkaars goede buur of
vriend. Als het niet meer gaat
dan hoef je niet meer jaren
door te modderen met alle
problemen van dien.Wordt
doodmoe van al die expats hier
die met problemen bij mij
aankloppen voor mijn niets.Ben
nu eenmaal een groot strijder
tegen onrecht en help dan maar
weer eens vaak tegen mijn zin,
maar zo zit het beestje nu
eenmaal in elkaar, en vindt het
moeilijk om een mens in nood te
laten stikken.Ik heb echter wel
zeer goede ervaringen met
Thaise rechters, en heb alle 12
rechtzaken gewonnen voor
onze Expats alhier.Deze
rechters denken en handelen
wel met een goedkloppend
hart, en volgen vaak niet de
letter van de wet zoals in
Nederland vele criminelen
vrijuit gaan met een goede
advokaat.
Maar ik ben het ook hartstikke
moe
om
telkens
dat
geouwehoer
over
die
vergrijzing aan te moeten
horen, waarmee men ons
regelmatig een schuldgevoel
dat ik tegen agressiviteit
ben,had ik toch wel iemand een
beuk gegeven. Wat een tuig en
praatjes, en dat op kosten van
de belastingbetaler en de
samenleveing.
Welkom
Roemenen en Bulgaren want
onze pensioenpotten zitten nog
boordevol. En maak dankbaar
gebruik van ons labiele kabinet
die ver achter de feiten aan
loopt en alleen aan zichzelf
denkt, ten koste van de minima
en de ouderen die allen moeten
inleveren, en de maag aan de
kapstok moeten hangen.En dat
had je toch zeker niet verwacht
van een PVDA in het kabinet,
die het op alle fronten heeft
laten afweten. Als Drees en Den
Uil dit weten draaien ze zich om
in hun graf. Deze voormannen
hadden het goed voor met onze
minima en ouderen,maar daar
is niets meer van over
gebleven.Het is dan ook hun
schuld dat Wilders straks gaat
regeren, want nagenoeg
niemand heeft nog vertrouwen
in de PVDA. Een oplossing? We
zullen het zien,maar slechter
kan het zeker niet.
WAARSCHU
WING !!!
aan probeert te praten, omdat
we uberhaupt nog het lef
hebben om zo lang te leven.
Vooral de overheid maakt hier
te vaak gebruik van, maar die
zijn vergeten dat
deze grijze horde destijds, na
de tweede wereldoorlog, de
kar uit de blubber heeft
getrokken om voor hen weer
vrije baan te maken. Ik heb
geen dank nodig,
maar een beetje meer respect
voor onze oudjes zou toch
zeker wel op zijn plaats zijn.
Asielzoekers en allochtonen
worden in de watten gelegt en
komen niets te kort,want overal
zijn er potjes voor. Wat een land
!! Nee niet meer voor mij, maar
voor criminelen en allochtonen,
zoals ik afgelopen week zag van
een stel super asociale
Marokanen
die
werden
geinterviewd.Helaas was ik niet
de interviewer want ondanks
Het is ook recessie in Thailand
en de meisjes en vooral hun
pooiers hebben het moeilijk en
zijn zeer creatief om ons geld
af te pakken.Er gebeuren veel
vreemde zaken in openbare
gelegenheden en Karaoke
bars,waar dames regelmatig
een pilletje in je drank stoppen,
met name in mixdrankjes. Als
je verdoofd bent blijkt achteraf
dat je kaalgeplukt bent. De
Australische
ambassade
vertelde mij dat het klachten
regende bij hun over
aanrandingen
en
verkrachtingen
van
Australische meisjes die waren
meegegaan met Thaise
loverboys. Vooral op grote
dansparties wordt er flink
gerommeld met de drug
KRATHOM. Zie verder de
website van de Australische
ambassade want de Thaise pers
heeft weinig behoefte om hier
aandacht aan te besteden.
D O M M E
DIEFSTAL
Een Belgische landgenoot was
zo dom om een telefoon te
stelen in een bar afkomstig van
een Thaise bardame, en zat 50
dagen in voorarrest omdat hij
bleef ontkennen.En daar
hebben politie en rechters een
bloedhekel aan, en pakken je
keihard terug. Stelen wordt hier
keihard gestraft en haal het
niet in je hoofd. Laatst werd
een Thaise jongen nog
veroordeeld tot 7 jaar
gevangenisstraf voor het stelen
van wat snoepgoed bij 7
eleven.En ik zie ook nog steeds
landgenoten die hun drugs
meenemen op vakantie. Dit is
Russische roulette want hier
staan zeer lange gevangenis
straffen op zoals enkele
landgenoten ook hebben
ervaren. Een klontje hasj en 1.8
gram coke leverde een
landgenoot 22 jaar op.
PATTAYA OP
DE FIETS !
DE NVTP organiseerd een leuke
fietstocht op 15 november na
het vreselijke regenseizoen. De
fietstocht begintbij het Thai
Garden Resort aan de Pattaya
NUA (Noord) road en duurt een
halve dag. Men heeft de keuze
om 8.00 uur of s’middags om
13.00 uur. De kosten zijn 700
baht p.p ofwel 16 euro en
daarvoor krijgt u een fiets,een
gids en een Thaise maaltijd, en
een leuk parcours waar u
normaal niet zou komen.Men
bezoekt een Thaise vismarkt,
een MUAY Thai school en een
typisch houtsnijwerk wat nog
een Thais museum moet gaan
worden in de toekomst. Zeker
aan te bevelen. Opgave via

Politiet i Nonthaburi har anholdt
en kvinde fra Kalasin for
angiveligt
at
forfalske
lotterisedler for at indloese

Fr Tawee Sawanate 62 fra Yang
Talad distriktet i Kalasin
provinsen
,
rejste
til
Nydeligt arbejde.
regeringens Lotterikontor i
Nonthaburi for, at haeve
hovedgevinsten paa 2 millioner
Baht med sin lotteriseddel, og
blev fluks anholdt, da
personalet saa, at lodsedlen
var falsk.
En official fra Lotterikontoret
sagde, at billetten var blevet
aendret fra 249.545 til 647.882
.
Fr Tawee naegtede at have
aendret
lodsedlen,
og
haevdede, at hun havde
koebte loddet af en lotteri
saelger paa en bus terminal i
Kalasin provinsen for 110 Baht
per billet. Lodderne laa i
lommen , indtil hun checkede
traekningslisten d. 7ende
oktober, og fandt ud af, at hun
havde
vundet
hovedgevinsten.
Fr Tawee sagde hun ringede til
familien, og rejste med 5 af
dem til Nonthaburi at goere
krav
paa gevinsten.
Politifolk stillede imidlertid
spoergsmaalstegn ved hendes
forklaring, og rejste sigtelse for
falskneri mod Fr Tawee, der
lever af at saelge chili.
Straffen for denne forseelse
gaar fra 6 maaneder til 5 aar i
faengsel, og 1.000 til 10.000

antikke og moderne smaa
Buddha figurer fra hele landet i

(Dark side).
Udstillingen er aaben for
offentligheden.
Omsider
Der synes omsider, at blive
givet
tiltraengt
opmaerksomhed til sikkerheden
i den offentlige transport. De
mange ulykker har en ugunstig
indflydelse
paa
tureisterhvervet. State Railway
of Thailand, der iaar har haf 19
afsporinger paa BangkokChiangmai ruten, har nu
besluttet, at reparere sporene.
Transport Authority of Thailand
har
udsendt
ny
sikkerhedsforskrifter, der
kraever, at alle inter-provins
busser
skal
installere
sikkerhedsseler og vise
sikkerhedsvideo til deres
passagerer paa busserne.
Meddelelsen fra Transport
Company Limited, et statsejet
virksomhed, der opererer under
Trafikministeriet, er et svar paa
den store trafikulykke i Saraburi
provins, hvor 19 mennesker
blev draebt og 30 saaret.
Fra den 15. oktober og frem,
skal alle busser, der drives af
Transport Co.Ltd. ifoelge den
nye forordning installere
sikkerhedsseler og vise en kort
PATTAYA PEOPLE RADIO 96 FM
video,
der
informerer
passagererne
om
sikkerhedsprocedurerne paa
samme maade som paa
kommercielle passagerfly.
Videoen vil desuden informere
passagererne om eventuelle
farer ved, ikke at spaende
sikkerhedsselen.
Saraburi ulykken.
Regelaendringen ses af meget
af den thailandske offentlighed
som en laenge tiltraeng
foranstaltning, som ville have
reddet liv i de hyppige
trafikulykker paa thailandske
veje.
Mange
offentlige
koeretoejer , saasom minibusser
og
taxaer,
har
ikke
sikkerhedsseler for deres
passagerer .
Vicetransportminister Pong
Cheewanant
sagde, at
Transport
Company
sikkerhedsreglerne er en
strategisk politik, som han
opfordrer
alle
transportvirksomhed at foelge.
“For at redde flere liv fra
trafikulykker , vil vi ogsaa brug
for kvalificerede chauffoerer til
at udfoere deres opgaver
ordentligt “ tilfoejede Mr. Pong
.
Transportministeriet havde
ogsaa tidligere annonceret
planer om at installere kameraer
til at overvaage chauffoerernes
adfaerd
samt
omstaendighederne i og uden
for bussen.
Det forventes , at kameraerne
skulle goere det muligt for
myndigheden, at vurdere
risikoen for ulykker foraarsaget
af buschauffoerer . Transport
Co.Ltd. meddeler, at man er
ved
at
vurdere
omkostningerne
og
effektiviteten af
CCTV
kameraer, og haaber, at
installere udstyret i sine i den
naere
fremtid,
da
de
teknologiske elementer bliver
stadig billigere.
“Maalet
er
at
styrke
passagerernes sikkerhed, naar
de rejser paa Transport
Co.Ltd. busser “, sagde Mr.
Pong,” I startfasen vi l
Transport Co.Ltd. vise vejen,
og jeg forventer andre
[private] virksomheder vil
foelge efter senere. “
Han tilfoejede: “Jeg er
overbevist om, at naar alle
Transport Co.Ltd.s 8.000
busser lever op til de ny regler,
vil passagererne foele sig
sikrere. Dette burde tilskynde
andre transportselskaber til at

CAFE KRONBORG
10 October: Mountain
Shadow Stableford. It was
a glorious sunny day for
Mountain Shadow 45 minutes
up route no 7. The course on
A Bunker Boys player named Gordon.
BUNKER BOYS @ The Ranch
Monday
7 th
October:
Eastern Star, (Stableford).
The fairways were totally
saturated, but amazingly the
greens were draining superbly,
and were actually in better
condition than on our last visit
in dry weather! After nine
extremely soggy holes we
decided that enough was
enough, and played the tenth
and eighteenth holes before
returning to the clubhouse for
a very welcome warm shower.
This is the first time in more than
ten year’s history of the Bunker
Boys Society that we’ve been
forced
to
cancel
two
consecutive competitions.
Wednesday 9th October:
Pleasant
Valley,
(Stableford).
We tee’d off on schedule, but
it was obvious from the first
hole that the course had
suffered from the recent
deluges, and the fairways were
still soggy, although playable.
Scores were never going to be
good, but Tony Robbins
managed to hold his game
together, and came home one
point clear of Neil Hurst, with
newcomer Andy Brady a
further point back taking third
place.
Results:
1st Tony Robbins (hcp. 14)
33 points
2nd Neil Hurst
(hcp. 12) 32 points
3rd Andy Brady
(hcp. 18)
31 points
Near pins: Andy Brady, Geoff
Parker, Steve Durey, and Reg
Smart.
October:
Friday
11 th
Greenwood (C & A)
Stableford. The course was in
fine condition and had dried out
surprisingly well from the recent
downpours, the only problem
being some patches on the
fairways were an overeager
mower had left deep tyre
treads in the damp areas. Andy
Brady was playing only his third
game with the Bunker Boys, but
was the only player to play to
his handicap on the day, to take
the winner’s prize. Duncan Lee
(20 points on the back nine)
took second place on a
countback ahead of Peter
Habgood.
Results:
1st Andy Brady
(hcp. 18) 36 points
2nd Duncan Lee
(hcp. 14) 35 points
3rd Peter Habgood
(hcp. 18)
35 points.
Dan Willets, Phil Smedley and Gabriel Enright.

2nd – Rick Allison (2) net 75
3rd – Tony Bates (17) net 83
Ernie McInerney smoked them
all with a net 74 for the day.
Steady Rick Allison was just a
stroke off with his 75, and Tony
Bates came in third with an 83
net score.
Tuesday 8th Oct: Phoenix

tees. Lake & Mountain.
1st - Dan Willets (11) 37 points
2nd – Rick Allison (2) 36 points
3rd – Vincent Gras (17) 33 points
We have seen another Aussie
1-2-3 today as they continue
to dominate the podium these
days. Dan Willets once again
came out on top with another
strong round of 37 points, while
his partner in crime Rick Allison
turned in a 36 point card for his
last game of golf for this trip.

the day was in fine condition
drying out fast even giving us
run and roll. We had a fast
round of 4 hours and back in
the clubhouse a welcome went
out to Ganbaatar a Mongolian
native and an airbus A300
captain for Kuwait Air. Two
flights today with the cut at
handicap 17. Our only lady
Guilan Liu (15) won A flight with
a great 39 points. Oddur
Olafsson (14) was second with
37 points and Ganbaatar (16)
third with 33 points. Gordon
Clegg (28) took the B flight with
a good 38 points, Jan
Lovegreen (20) second on a
countback
from
Elias
Magnusson (19) third, both 32
points.
Vincent Gras, has been touring
Thailand lately, so his 33 points
for third is well earned.
Thursday 10th Oct: Green
Valley, Stableford, White
tees.
1 st - Walter Baechli (20) 35
points
2nd – Dan Willets (11) 33 points
3rd – Gabriel Enright (22) 32
points
3rd – Phil Smedley (10) 32 points
Due to the extreme flooding up
north, we decided to cancel the
Kabinburi trip. We had a change
in venue to Green Valley and
ended up dry and glad we made
the right choice. It was good to
see Walter Baechli back with us
again. Walter is always in good
spirits and a gentleman both on
and off the course. His 35
points today left him one stroke
from shooting his handicap, but
the best card of the day. Way
to go Walter! Steve Ellison.

GROWLING SWAN
Monday, 14 th October:
Bangpra Stableford. We
welcomed back Bob Akapita
from his work at Gove in the
Northern Territory of Australia,
Roy Dayton and his lady
Duangjai “Kae” Tusagad who
have recently returned from
California and good friend
Walter Baechli who was having
a game with us once again.
After a very slow round of five
hours & five minutes we
eventually finished after most
of us found the course tough
on the day and indeed we only
had one golfer who played to
their handicap or better. We
had 2 divisions, Division A for
handicaps 0 to 17 and Division
B for handicaps of 18 and over
with 3 places in each division.
There were also rewards for
nearest the pins on all the par
threes and longest first putts
on the ninth & eighteenth
greens. A Division winner was
Bob Akapita (17) with a fine 37
points and with 2 golfers on 34
points a count back was needed
which saw Martin Todd (8) (18
point back nine) take second
place from Mike Allidi (2) (16
point back nine) who finished
third. In Division B it was John
Davis (21) winning with 31
points from Patrick Poussier
(22) in second spot with 28
points. Another count back was
required to determine third spot
and it was Dick Braimbridge (35)
(12 point back nine) who
prevailed over Max Bracegirdle
(10 point back nine). Peter
Blackburn.
NTP’s: 2nd – Peter Blackburn,
8th – Mike Allidi, 12th – Stu Rifkin,
17th – Stu Rifkin.
LFP’s: 9th – Stu Rifkin, 18th –
John Pierrel.
Owen Walkley and Willem Lasonder.
SIAM COUNTRY RESORT
First to Tuesday when we again
accepted the generosity of
Tropical Bert’s to share their
monthly booking at Bangpra,
the last for this year’s Low
Season. Conditions were not
great, to say the least, with
the course close to sodden, but
the rain held off & we sloshed
our way round under clear
skies. Playing lift, clean & place
did not fully compensate for the
conditions, with good scores
thin on the ground. Joop (32)
led the way home with 32
points, ahead of Martin Hayes
(13) with 29 hard earned points.
NTPs went to Martin, Jeff &
Hidde with 2.Owen Walkley (14)
was again out on his own, 7
points clear of the next best at
Greenwood, where we played
the C & A combination from the
White Tees. After a couple of
rain free days, Greenwood was
in markedly better condition,
dampness wise, than Tuesday’s
venue. Lift, clean & place was
still the order of the day, with
the occasional casual water
drop required, but another
week or so of no rain & we
should be back to playing the
ball as it lies. In 2nd spot with a
more realistic score of 36 points
was Willem Lasonder (21) & he
played well to compile that
score ahead of several players
in the mid 30s. NTPs were
spread around between Jeff,
Hidde, Owen & Neil.
TROPICAL BERT’S
Tuesday, 8th October:
Bangpra (Stableford). The
Course is wet, and as we
walked up the first, no carts on
the Course, it was noticeable
the clouds were out and the
ground sodden. It was really
hard work and I felt this is one
of those days to be at work and
not on the Golf Course.
Something else that was out
was the monkeys, the first few
holes were covered in them,
dozens, and I left my caddie by
the cart to stop them invading
it. They really did not go away
all the round, the rain has
seemingly brought then all out,
and there are some big males
amongst them, so be careful!
As said, at times the fairways
were very wet indeed, the
greens at least were playable
and at times if you got above
the hole it became as per usual
here, very fast. Time for the
results and as many had not
come back due to the expected
rain we got on with it. The
winner with 34 points was
Takeshi Hakozaki with 34 points
ahead of Sunny Khanna with
32 points. We then had a
countback on 31 points that
saw Walter Baechli in third and
Brian Parish in fourth.
Near Pin: Derek Brook, Landis
Brooks (2), Mikita Homma.
