OVERVIEW OF LOYALTY PROGRAM
This program was designed to further secure the relationship between Moroccanoil and
professional salon accounts. Our goal is not only to offer this program to salons that purchase
large quantities but to reward loyal customers that represent the brand appropriately.
Salon Eligibility
• Program is available to professional salon accounts.
• Potential member must meet the salon criteria included in the package.
• Potential member will need an application submitted by their DSC.
• Anti-diversion contract must be signed and mailed to Moroccanoil corporate.
• Salons cannot apply to the program; membership can only be offered
by DSC once approved.
• An application DOES NOT guarantee approval into the program.
• Only completed applications including the 3 images requested will be considered.
Salon Criteria
1.Salon is a top-tier account within the DSC’s territory.
2.Salon is clean, well decorated, and has a luxurious appearance with
a well-designed facility.
3.Salon strives for quality, service, and consistency throughout the facility.
4.Staff is engaging, personable and enthusiastic.
5.Salon is focused on guest experience and education.
6.Salon only retails high-quality brands.
7.Salon has a strong customer base.
8.Salon uses marketing and support materials appropriately.

SUBMITTING CANDIDATES ONLINE
Login
Moroccanoil will e-mail each DSC a username and password for the Loyalty Program site
(portal.moroccanoil.com).
Once the DSC receives their username and password, they will be able to submit their candidates
for the Loyalty Program.
The DSC will be able to change their password and check the status of their applications online at any time.
An example of the online application form appears on the following page.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Q. Is a Loyalty Salon Account required to retail the full Moroccanoil line?
A. Yes. With the exception of scalp treatments, all Moroccanoil products must be retailed.
Q. When is a Salon Account disqualified from the program?
A. • If a Salon retails backbar products, under any circumstances.
• When a Salon goes against any existing Moroccanoil policies (diversion, etc.).
• When they are not purchasing the minimum monthly requirement ($401).
Q. Can a Salon Account use their backbar credit to redeem marketing material?
A. Yes. A Salon Account can use backbar credit to purchase marketing and educational
material, but cannot transfer marketing credits to backbar purchases.
Q. Can a Salon Account carry over its credit to the next month?
A. Yes. A Salon Account can carry a balance for a 3 month period, or longer if it is
used towards education.
Q. When a display package is purchased, does that purchase count towards the program?
A. No, as the Loyalty Display Package is purchased at a one-time only promotional price.
Q. Can a Salon Account purchase a display package without the display unit itself?
A. No, each Loyalty Display Package is an individual SKU and cannot be altered.
The display unit must be featured in the salon.
Q. Can a Salon Account apply to join the Loyalty Program?
A. No. A Salon Account cannot directly apply to join the program. Each Salon Account must
be selected by its DSC, who will then submit its candidacy to Moroccanoil for approval.
For tracking purposes, existing accounts will also require an application.
Q. Can a disqualified Salon rejoin the Loyalty Program?
A. Yes. A Salon Account disqualified for inadequate purchases can be requalified
providing it maintains the minimum purchasing level for three consecutive months.
Moroccanoil will only allow requalification to take place once.
Q. What do I say to a Salon Account whose application was denied?
A. Ideally, a Salon Account should not be aware that an application was submitted.
If unavoidable, assure them that their application has been added to the Moroccanoil
database and may have the opportunity to be reevaluated.

Q. What if a Salon Account meets 7 out of 8 of the Salon Criteria?
A. A top-tier Salon Account may differ from territory to territory. Moroccanoil will take this
into consideration when evaluating each application. Each Salon Account is reviewed
on a case-by-case basis.
Q. What if an unapproved Salon is aware of the Loyalty Program?
A. There are a limited number of Loyalty Salons in the program and approval is based
on specific criteria.
Q. Why would a top-tier Salon not retailing Moroccanoil want to join the Loyalty Program,
especially if they have built a relationship with another reputable brand?
A. • One of the most generous reward programs in the industry.
• Very low and realistic minimums.
• There are no large quotas to meet.
• No obligation to purchase promotions.
• Incredibly flexible use of rewards.
• Moroccanoil is passionately dedicated to fighting diversion.
• Moroccanoil has always been a pioneer, receiving multiple awards for its initiatives.
• The product line is driven by consumer demand.
• Moroccanoil does not require salons to remain in the program.

2. PORTAL
THE MOROCCANOIL PORTAL
Overview
The Moroccanoil Portal is a resource developed for DSCs to easily access information and manage their
salons’ activity. The portal is constantly being updated and improved in order to provide our DSCs with
the tools they need for success. The following is a guide on how to navigate and use each section of the portal.
Login
Logging On
Visit the portal at: portal.moroccanoil.com.
Your username and password will be identical to your Loyalty Application Portal access information.
If you forget your password, click on “Forgot Password”. Upon completing the required fields,
your password will be sent to your e-mail account.

HOME
The Home page is comprised of two main components: DSC Dashboard and Media Center.
DSC Dashboard
The DSC Dashboard is an overview of your portal activity. It displays how many Loyalty Salons have
redemption balances, the status of Loyalty and Professional Privileges applications, and your monthly
e-commerce commissions.
Media Center
The Media Center provides access to pertinent articles, videos, and promotions. These can be shared
by e-mail directly from the portal.

LOYALTY
There are 3 sections under the “LOYALTY” tab – Loyalty Menu, Redemption History, and Your Salons.
Loyalty Menu
All redeemable products and marketing materials for Loyalty Salons are displayed here.
Redeeming on behalf of a salon:
• Select the correct salon from the drop down menu at the top of the page.
• Choose the quantity of each product you would like to redeem, and click the “Add to bag” button.
• As soon as you add an item to your bag, a pop-up will appear on the right side of the page.
The pop-up updates in real time as you continue adding items to your bag.
• Once all desired products have been added, click the “REDEEM” button.
• The menu at the bottom of the page displays how many Loyalty dollars that salon has earned in
each category (Retail, Backbar, Marketing, and Education). This menu also updates in real time
as items are added to the bag.

Redemption History
This page shows all of your past redemptions.
• You can filter your history by “Date” and/or “Salon Name”.
• The “Redeemed By” column displays who placed the redemption order (either the salon
or the DSC who was granted access).
Your Salons
A list of all of your Loyalty Salons with approved applications.
• You can search for a specific salon using a variety of criteria (salon name, location, customer ID,
Loyalty ID, etc.)
• By clicking on the “View/Edit Account” icon, you can view all information regarding that salon.
• New applications can also be submitted here.

LOYALTY
Registering with your Loyalty Salon
Once your Loyalty Salon has purchased an intro Loyalty package, they will receive a Loyalty Member ID.
The Loyalty Member ID is a 13 digit code. The salon will be sent a Loyalty invitation containing their
Member ID (see Loyalty card below).
Registration
• The salon must visit portal.moroccanoil.com and click on “Create new account”.
• They will then enter the Loyalty Member ID and click “VALIDATE”. The salon’s information will
populate automatically.
• The salon will then be prompted to create a username and password.
• The final step is choosing the salon’s redemption preferences. The salon can opt to allow you,
their DSC, to redeem rewards on their behalf. This preference can be changed at any time within
the salon’s “My Account” settings.

Moroccanoil Treatment has the ability to help restore and revive hair
damaged from chemicals found in shampoos, color processes and
perms, as well as environmental factors. Signature original formula
pioneered the oil-infused hair care category, and is now available in
Light. Both feature alcohol-free formulas that can easily be absorbed
by wet or dry hair, and are rich in antioxidants, vitamins and protein
to nourish hair.

HOW TO USE
Styling, Finishing and Protection
Formulated for wet or dry hair, a small amount of Moroccanoil Treatment helps significantly reduce blow-drying
time and facilitate styling by increasing manageability. Use on dry hair to help smooth and eliminate frizz,
and protect from environmental factors such as the sun, wind and others.
Chemical Processing
Color and other chemical processes can have a negative impact on hair cuticle and also damage the amino acids,
among which is Tyrosine, found inside the hair shaft. When the Tyrosine is damaged, the hair’s ability to hold color
is compromised and hair becomes dry and brittle. Moroccanoil Treatment is rich in protein and antioxidants to help
restore needed nutrients, and strengthen hair in the process.
To prepare hair for any of these procedures, use approximately 2–3 pumps or 5 ml of Moroccanoil Treatment
directly on dry hair, massaging product throughout. This enhances the hair’s ability to absorb the process as well
as help prevent some of the damage caused by chemical services. As Moroccanoil Treatment is absorbed into
the hair, add 3–5 ml of Moroccanoil Treatment to the formula and apply as usual—this increases hair’s absorption
rate and enhances the shine and depth of color. Do not rinse hair before applying color.
For all hair types
Relaxer Process
Prepare hair as usual. Before applying relaxer, apply the treatment
directly on hair and gently massage the product through to penetrate
to the hair cuticle. Add 3–5 ml of Moroccanoil Treatment to the formula.
This will help prevent some of the damage caused by the chemicals.
Hair Extensions
Moroccanoil Treatment is highly effective at diminishing static and
preserving hair extensions. As with any product used with hair extensions,
we recommend using Moroccanoil Treatment dry or wet, 3 inches away from the bonding point.

What is frizz and how do we fight it?

HOW TO USE
1. P
lug the appliance into an appropriate power supply. The heat level and fan speed of the appliance
can be controlled independently using the upper and lower switches, respectively.
2. The lower switch controls fan speed. When the switch is in the left position, the fan is turned off.
Move the lower switch to the center position for low fan speed, or the right position for high fan speed.
3. T
he upper switch controls heat level. When the switch is in the left position, the heat is turned off.
Move the upper switch to the center position for low heat, or the right position for high heat.
4. T
he orange “COOL SHOT” button may be used to set a hairstyle after blow-drying.
Click once to engage the Cool Shot feature and click again to disengage.
5. After use, make sure both switches are in the left (O) position before unplugging the appliance.
6. D
o not pull the cord to unplug the appliance; grasp the plug firmly to remove it from the electrical outlet.

HOW TO USE
The Moroccanoil Professional Series Titanium Ceramic Hairstyling Iron may be used two ways:
To straighten and smooth-out hair:
1. D
ivide hair into small sections. Be sure to take fine subsections.
2. S elect desired temperature. (Fine hair = lower heat setting; Medium to Coarse/Thick = higher heat setting.
Refer to Temperature Guide.)
3. S
tarting at the base of one section, spray one pump of Moroccanoil Heat Styling Protection lightly 8–10
inches away. Close the flat iron at the base and glide it through the ends, repeating until desired smoothness
is achieved. Continue working in the same manner in all sections.

To create soft waves and curls:
1. D
ivide hair into small sections and lightly spray Moroccanoil
Heat Styling Protection throughout.
2. S elect desired temperature. (Fine hair = lower heat setting;
Medium to Coarse/Thick = higher heat setting. Refer to
Temperature Guide.)
3. T
ake a ¼-inch piece of hair and place the iron in a section where
the curl is to begin.
4. L ightly close the iron and rotate a quarter or half of the way
in the desired direction of the curl (away from or towards the face),
working through the ends and all other sections of hair.
Styling Tip: Moving the iron faster through the hair will
create a softer wave effect, while moving the iron slower
will create a tighter spring curl effect.

1. Do Moroccanoil products contain silicones?
Yes. Products such as Moroccanoil Treatment, Moroccanoil Treatment Light, Glimmer Shine, Hydrating Styling Cream,
Moisture Repair Shampoo and Conditioner, Intense Hydrating Mask, Intense Curl Cream, Frizz Control, Curl Defining
Cream, Extra Volume Conditioner and Weightless Hydrating Mask all do. Silicones in these products provide a level
of protection from heat styling and moisture loss, as well as enhance luster, smoothness and manageability.
2. Are silicones safe?
At Moroccanoil, we use only the finest cosmetic-grade ingredients in all of our products. Our silicones—specifically,
cyclomethicone and dimethicone—are compliant to industry regulations in the U.S. Europe and Japan. Silicones act
as a lightweight lubricant to make the surface of the hair feel smooth without leaving a sticky residue. Their unique
molecular structure (larger molecules with wider spaces between each molecule) allows them to form a breathable
barrier without weighing the hair down.
3. Do Moroccanoil products contain safe levels of pH?
Yes. The pH levels vary from 3.5 to 7.0 for Moroccanoil products that contain water.
4. What is the shelf life of Moroccanoil products?
Depending on the product and market, Moroccanoil products will either have an expiration date imprinted on the
packaging, a purchase-after-opening (PAO) symbol or both. The PAO is a small jar icon with a number inside that
indicates the number of months the product will keep and be optimal for use after opening. The time period depends
on the stability testing that we do.
5. Are Moroccanoil products suitable for all hair types?
Moroccanoil products are suitable and gentle for all hair types. From the finest to the coarsest strands, our argan
oil-infused formulas nourish and condition—without weighing hair down or making it oily. For targeted hair needs,
we recommend visiting a salon to get professional advice on what Moroccanoil product best addresses your specific
hair concern.

What is Visual Merchandising?
Simply put—Visual Merchandising is the art of displaying merchandise in a manner that is appealing to the eyes
of the customer.
Why is Visual Merchandising so important?
Merchandising has such a profound impact on sales and public perception. The presentation of a salon’s
merchandise can either:
A. Serve to reinforce the customer’s confidence in the product, establishment and/or quality of the services
B. Cause them to second-guess their need to buy
In a split second, a sale is either realized or lost. Revisiting Visual Merchandising standards
can often make product not only more appealing, but also lead to a growth in sales. Well-planned and
carefully-executed presentations promote both shopability and impulse sales. Great merchandising can also:
uide how customers form an emotional connection to the brand.

• Engage customers and boost sales activity with the use of creative displays.
• S et our product in an aesthetically pleasing fashion and convert window-shoppers into prospects, and
ultimately, buyers.
Where do we merchandise?
General Rules
Most salons have 6 key merchandising areas (outlined in detail on Page 4). Within all these spaces, the
following general rules should be applied:

irst and most importantly, be sensitive to the salon staff and environment. Apply Brand Standards with

sensitivity to the overall DNA of the salon.
• Restocking and shelf maintenance should be everyday routines to ensure presentation remains fresh,clean,
stocked and shopable.
• Sales staff must be trained and held accountable for maintaining merchandise presentations. To add
to the store’s buy-appeal, it should always appear well-stocked, but not bursting at the seams.
• The retail display area should be easily accessible and product prices should be clearly visible and easily found.
• Avoid “mass merchandising” commonly used in supermarkets and drugstores by avoiding overstocking
and cramping products together.
• Keep merchandise presentation stocked but simple, “airy” and non-crowded.
• Create clear and clean divisions between categories Use boxes to guide spacing between products.

Riser Usage
Risers are an easy, affordable tool that salons can purchase for setting up small vignettes in shelves, outpost
spaces, waiting rooms and styling areas.
They can be used for displaying promotions, to highlight new items or to call out specific products or stories.
Some Tips Around Using Risers
• Utilize triangular compositions of varied heights to create optical balance and visual interest.
(Fig. 1 – Triangle Setup)
• Create small vignettes combining counter cards, product and risers together. Choose appropriate riser
to accommodate bag sizes. Promotional bags should not hang over edges of risers.
• Use risers in small windows, designated outpost locations, promotional displays, receptionist desks,
waiting rooms and styling areas.

III. General standards what to do
WHAT TO DO
When planning out visual statements keep the following top of mind:
1. Select products by usage catagory when deciding what to feature in your visuals (i.e. Volume or Curl).
2. Create clean presentations and keep it simple.
3. Keep it to a minimum. Use minimal amounts of product with even spacing in visual presentations to keep it fresh and easy
for a customer to absorb quickly.

b. Place mask on a small riser (upside down) with appropriate shampoo and conditioner flanking sides

Suggest that salons spread out some of these merchandising
elements to other areas of the salon; or suggest they store them for

Adjusting product presentation in accordance to available space and inventory is an exercise that should
be performed daily.

IV. O UtPOSTs
An Outpost, by definition, is a military expression meaning, “an outlying branch of a main group.” Salons
can also “deploy additional forces” by creating outposts in strategic areas. Outposts can be both permanent
and temporary.
Creative retailers are intuitive about what customers may want or need and station these items where
the customer would be most likely to consider them. Outposts are most effective in high-traffic locations,
such as near the store entrance, reception desk and waiting areas.
When not in a promotion, secure additional impressions in the salon by creating an outpost. Use risers
and counter cards to tell a thematic story:
1. Tell a Story of Curls featuring all Curl products and Moroccanoil Treatment
2. Tell a Story of Volume featuring all Volume products and Moroccanoil Treatment
