ADDITIONAL SECURITY MEASURES
In light of world and national events of late, we are looking at our security measures once again. As a school, we
will do a practice lock down exercise on Monday. We also need all visitors to the building to use the front entrance
on Main Street. Feel free to park in the front circle between 8:05-2:00. Our Main Office staff will ask for your name
and who you are here to visit. Please then report directly to the Main Office. We have also reminded students and
faculty not to open doors for visitors during the day or after school. Please understand none of these gestures are
intended to be inhospitable. We are taking these steps to maintain the safety of your daughters. Thanks for your
understanding and support.
SHA CHRISTMAS PLANT SALE PICK UP
Just a quick reminder that the Christmas Plant Sale pick up is today, Dec. 4 from 3-6 pm in the SHA Cafeteria.
TONY WALKER SHA SHOPPING DAY
Tony Walker & Co. is hosting a SHA Shopping Day on Tuesday, December 15 (10:30 am - 8:30 pm). There will be a
cocktail party & fashion show at 6 pm. 10% of all your purchases will be donated to SHA AND you’ll receive 10% off
all your purchases. Feel free to share this invite with family and friends, and remember that this is a great
opportunity to grab a gift to use as a Sandstone donation. Please see Page 3 for more details.
HOW ABOUT A LITTLE LUNCH MUSIC
M & T Bank is presenting its “Holiday Music Under the Dome” series this December. SHA’s Music Department will be
performing on Thursday, December 10, from 12-1 pm at the Fountain Plaza Branch. Stop by on your lunch and listen
to the sounds of the season courtesy of our SHA girls.
HATS, GLOVES, & MITTENS
The S.H.A.R.K. Club is collecting gently used hats, gloves, and mittens for the St. Vincent DePaul Society. If you have
winter accessories you no longer need or want, please send them in to school to support this drive. All sizes are
needed. Thank you!
THE PERFECT GIFT
Looking for that little something to give as a holiday gift to your baby sitter, helpful neighbor, or office mate? Why
not support SHA and do one stop shopping all at once? We are selling the Elite 2016 Coupon Book which has great
deals on restaurants, shopping, entertainment, services, and family fun all adding up to savings in your wallet.
Coupons in this book are good through December 31, 2016, so you’ll be able to get your money's worth out of it.
Books are $20 each and our school will earn $10 for each book sold. So this is a win-win for everyone involved. The
coupon books are on sale in the Main Office. Checks can be made payable to Sacred Heart Academy. Be sure to
stop by and get your copy today and start your holiday shopping early! A copy of the participating vendors is
on Page 4.

Tau RETREAT 2015
Sacred Heart Campus Ministry
Tau is a religious retreat program grounded in the Charism of St. Francis.
Charism is a general term that
indicates a personal gift of the Spirit used for the good of the Church. A faithful person receives a charism, the gift
of the Holy Spirit, when he/she opens himself/herself to God's grace. As a Franciscan school, we aim to observe
the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ by following the example of St. Francis of Assisi, who made Christ the inspiration
and the center of his life with God and people. Tau is an ancient symbol also known as the Franciscan Cross. Tau
is the 19th letter of the Greek alphabet that represents Theos or God. During this retreat, the students will have
the opportunity to spend meaningful time with God within our Christian community. Retreatants will experience a
series of talks given both by peers and adults and participate in many individual and group activities. Prayer and the
Sacraments are an essential part of the program as well as the participants' involvement in discussions and other
exercises.
The purpose of Tau is to allow the retreatant to see the value of her Christian faith as experienced in
community. With the support of that community, she can more effectively find her true worth as a person in
relationship with God, her family and her friends. Space is limited to the first 20 registrants; sign-up early.
Retreat Details
Dates: Friday, January 15 – Saturday, January 16
Times: We will leave Sacred Heart at 3:00pm on Friday, January 15. Students will return to Sacred Heart at

This Code of Conduct will be in effect during the retreat.
1. Students must adhere to curfew set by retreat team.
2. No one is to leave the grounds of Camp Pioneer at any time for any reason.
3. Sacred Heart students are not permitted in any areas except for those that the school has contracted to
use.
4. The buildings and grounds at Camp Pioneer are entrusted to us for our use. Please have respect for the
facilities. Any form of vandalism (writing or carving on furniture, defacing walls, etc.) will require payment
for any damage by the students involved in the incident. In addition, these students will be subject to
disciplinary action by the school.
5. Rowdy games and activities are for outside. Whatever is broken as a result of such actions will be paid
for by the students involved.
6. NO DRUGS, TOBACCO, OR ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE PERMITTED. They have no place on the retreat
and will not be tolerated. Any student using drugs or alcohol – or who is present in a group using drugs or
alcohol -- will be sent home and school administration and law enforcement will be informed.
7. Student will give retreat leaders their cell phone/electronics for the duration of the retreat. Parents will
have the retreat leaders’ cell phone numbers in the event of an emergent need to contact their daughter.
8. Student agrees to cooperate with ALL directives given by the retreat team and staff.
I, the undersigned, have read these regulations and agree to abide by them during the Tau Retreat. Both
daughter and parent understand the obligations in being part of this spiritual process. I understand that not
signing will prevent me from attending the retreat.
