About the
NSA
Family
North Star Academy Laval is a private high school located
in the heart of Laval, Quebec – just on the outskirts of
Montreal. We specialize in languages, sciences, and
computer technology, while offering courses in creative
arts, musical instruction, and physical education. We are
extremely proud to be a contemporary school that follows
the most recent academic developments, while still
maintaining traditional values at our core.
At North Star Academy Laval, we are dedicated to
maximizing the academic and creative potential of our
students, while ensuring their well-being. To that end,
we maintain small class sizes and provide our students
with individualized attention every step of the way.
Our teachers employ an interdisciplinary approach,
where reading and writing skills in both English and
French are reinforced in all subject areas.

Why Choose
North Star Academy Laval
North Star Academy Laval is dedicated to offering cutting-edge educational
programs that distinguish our school from the rest. Our students are no
longer homogeneous in terms of their abilities and the manner in which they
learn; instead, they are exposed to a multitude of information made available
to them from a variety of resources. In turn, students are more likely to
internalize the information being presented to them, as they engage with the
curriculum through various outlets. Technological resources, for example,
are used to help students solve complex, authentic problems that cross
disciplinary boundaries. The academy is committed to use learning tools
that will provide structure and a collaborative learning environment for all
our students.
Students at North Star Academy Laval will acquire:
• A masterful command of the English and French languages
• A firm grasp and practical application of technology; a must
for the 21st century
• Enthusiasm and appreciation for the arts and sciences
• Discernment of global views and ethics

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
AND HOUSES
NSAL recognizes that strong academics are important,
but not the only component of an enriching and memorable
high school experience. Accordingly, to encourage intellectual,
physical, and social development, NSAL requires each
student to participate in at least one extra-curricular activity.
Most activities take place during lunch and are offered once
per cycle. Intra-mural sports take place every day during
lunch.
Additionally, at the beginning of the year, all North Star
Academy Laval students are placed in a HOUSE. Each HOUSE
represents a colour and quality boasted in the school ethos:
Ruby House represents Knowledge, Sapphire House
represents Strength, Amber House represents Integrity,
and Emerald House represents Compassion. The purpose
of having HOUSES is to encourage SCHOOL SPIRIT,
BELONGING, ACADEMIC IMPORTANCE, and BEING A
GOOD SAMARITAN.

Why Choose
North Star Online School
North Star Online School is a virtual school for students to
complete a Grade 12 program instead of going to CEGEP.

of Education, making them eligible for admission to not
only Québec universities but also all universities across
North America.
The student would be taught as if in a conventional school
and would receive a full range of courses and services
on-line, given in real time by a certified teacher.
Students following such programs are recognized on
par with students registered in regular schools. They
can be geographically located anywhere and receive
this service in the comfort and security of their own
