This month’s hot topic focuses on finding motivation.
Do you steer clear of the gym because you’re bored of
the same old routine? Or do you make excuses along the
lines of being too tired to come in for a 30 minute work
out? Stop beating yourself up because you are not the
only one!
So it’s time to blow the dust off of your gym bag because
you are going to learn how to fool proof your fitness
routine with these 3 important tips:
1. Goal Setting is PRIORITY #1.
Whether you use a dream board, a journal, or
even just a post-it note, keep your goals where
you can see them. Determine what you would
like to accomplish, and set a realistic deadline
to hold yourself accountable. Smaller, short
term goals should be used to help you build the
foundation for what’s most important to you.
2. Always Have a Plan of Attack.
Whether you plan out each day or each week
you must include exercise and meals in your
schedule. It is very easy to make excuses to
skip the gym after work if you haven’t been
planning for it all afternoon. You may even be
tempted to crash your diet because we have
this “all or nothing” mentality that kicks in
sometimes. Accepting defeat is not an option.
Plan to eat clean 80% of the week, and make it
to the gym at least twice a week. Your body will
start to change as long as you are consistent.
3. USE Somebody.
Whether it’s a spouse, friend, or fitness trainer you must
seek support! It is proven that we tend to have a higher
caloric output, heavier lift, or improved race time when
we work out with a partner. The buddy system is great
because you are holding each other accountable to your
fitness goals, and a little friendly competition will help
keep you focused.
If you or anyone you know wants to improve their health but are unable to determine where to start, please
don’t hesitate to stop by Club Phoenix. We will help you set your goals, develop your plan of attack and even
find you a work out buddy. We are here to help you get the most out of your membership because it’s not just
our gym, it’s YOUR gym.
You want me to do something.....tell me I can’t do it. -Maya Angelou
You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. -Wayne Gretzky

Introducing Chelsey Forbes, RMT
In 2009 Chelsey graduated from the West Coast College of Massage
Therapy-3000 hour program- in Victoria. This year she also completed
her Yoga Teacher Training-200 hour program- at Feel Good Yoga and
Pilates in Langford.
Chelsey is a positive person who is a strong believer in complete body
health. She feels that it is important to take the best possible care of the
only body you are given in this life. Our bodies run optimally when they
are supplied properly with what they need including nutrition, water,
exercise, rest and reparative therapies.
As a massage therapist she listens to the needs of her clients and tailors
each treatment to their preference. Chelsey works with each individual
to help them reach a new level of well-being and happiness.
Massage Therapy sessions can be 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, or 120 minutes in length, depending on the
clients needs. Sessions are comprised of a brief interview, a physical assessment, and treatment
followed by a re-assessment and home care suggestions. Clients with extended benefits or
insurance claims may be able to submit receipts to their health care provider for reimbursement
for therapy sessions.
