Preface
It gives me immense pleasure to present the Annual Quality Assurance Report
(AQAR) to the National Assessment of Accreditation council.
We have certainly made sincere efforts to reflect the mission and objectives of our
college through this year report. The report highlights the plans and gives a
detailed account of all the activities related to academic achievements co-curricular
and sports landmarks and successes.
The report also depicts the innovative and creative practices of the college
management, leadership and the staffs involvement, teaching learning and
evaluation process coupled with the facultys‟ commitment and efforts in
mentoring, coaching and counseling of our students.
The AQAR this year spells out the quality enrichment of our campus and also
describes the repairs, renewal, renovations carried out this year. It also indicates
the involvement of the alumni and the entire college towards quality sustenance
and quality enhancement plans, policy and programme.

Part A: Plan of Action
The new academic year 2010-11 begin with the brain storming session for chalking out
plans, policies and programs for the ensuing year. The following plan of actions were
considered, formulated and accepted with a view to sincerely pursue quality
enhancement.
1.
To plan for strict adherence of academic calendar and to complete the term-end/
semester curriculum as per the deadlines for B.Com, M.Com, BBA, BCA, BBM,
B. Sc (computer science), MCJ, DCJ, Diploma courses and foreign languages.
2.
To plan for the actual implementation of the use of appropriate technology at all
the departments with the quest for pursuing recent knowledge and updating
information and moving towards excellence.
3.
To organise student centric, diverse, need based additional activities by
conducting
 Remedial courses for SC, ST, and OBC candidates.
 Remedial courses for other general students.
 Remedial courses for international students.

To improve gymnasium with additional equipments with financial assistance from
University of Pune under quality improvement program.

To seek financial assistance from UGC for organizing the International
Conference on „Recent Trends in Global Marketing Scenario: Impact of
Digitalization‟ by the month of December 2011.
6.
To organize the 20th state level Elocution competition on „Dowry an Evil System‟
with the goal for inculcating value system among our students with a quest for
focusing the competition on crucial dimensions of dowry, specifically with
regards to

with a view to help in curriculum framing and enhancing quality oriented
academic and non academic activities.

To conduct Faculty Development Programme (FDP) subject wise/department
wise at Local/State/National level.

To encourage faculty to participate in State/National/International conferences by
presenting papers and acting as session chair speaker etc.
11.
To encourage those teachers for minor/major research who have not applied for
minor/major project with UGC.

To introduce workout sessions at the college gymnasium especially for faculty
members with inclusion of yoga/meditation sessions.

To ensure that the college participate in more than 25 inter-collegiate tournaments

To organise inter-collegiate „Management Youth Festival‟ with management
games, business quiz, mad-ads and many other innovative events and
competitions.

To organize, PEGASUS an intercollegiate competition with best paper
presentation and competition for preparing various fundamental application
programs.

To encourage students to conduct workshops, seminars class wise/faculty
wise/department wise.

To call for proposal and suggestions from teachers, students, alumni and parents
for celebrating silver jubilee program of the college by organizing meetings and
brain storming sessions.

To encourage Communication Department to continue winning the honors of
topping the university both at the Diploma in Journalism as well as Master in
Journalism course.
27.
To conduct special educational trips for Journalism Students to interact with
leading National Statesmen/Bureaucrats and also to have firsthand experience of
visiting both Loksabha and Rajyasabha.
28.
To encourage Journalism students to produce, direct and act so as to win awards
through their production and involvement through in-house documentary.
29.
To encourage students and artists of our Art circle to win more than last year‟s
individual and team awards at various Local, State and National inter-collegiate
drama, dance and one act play competitions
30.
To organise workshops/seminars especially for clerical and administrative nonteaching staff members with administrative responsibilities.
31.
To improve Campus by making it a clean and green environment.
32.
To have a newly renovated and more spacious canteen at least by Dec 2011.

To have student‟s feedback for BBA, BCA, BCS semester-wise as some faculties
are appointed for certain semester depending upon the subject taught in a
particular semester.

1.
Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the institution
The college during the academic year 2010-11 along with encouragement and
support from its management and with dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff member
consistently endeavoured to make sincere efforts to link our college mission and
objectives to synchronize with the various academic/non-academic activities to
eventually lead to attainment of the college objectives in such a way so as become
successful in the attainment of the mission of the Institution.
Mission Statement
“MMCC will strive to offer opportunities for learning and
development of our students and work towards attainment of
social justice, equity and contentment for all our stake holders”
Objectives
The college has very clear cut but very simple goals and objectives to its academic
activities as follows:

To act as catalyst to empower our students as better individuals by imparting knowledge
to our students of various subject.

To effectively impart knowledge, develop skills, provide opportunities with a
commitment to develop amongst the student‟s integrity, innovation and excellence
through under graduate programmes such as B.Com, B. Sc, BBA, BBM, B. Sc
(Computer Science), DCJ and also through post graduation programme in Commerce,
Communication and Journalism, Banking and Finances and Foreign Trade.

To create a collaborative and dynamic environment and pleasant climate in which all
team members feel cared for and to prepare our students to take on subsequent
responsibility in trade, commerce, industry media world and various professions.

To develop students as responsible citizen with growing patriotism, concern and love for
nature and environment and maintain ethical standards.

To work with the missionary zeal so as to be in harmony with our students aspiration and
works towards the promotion of world class education with emphasis on values in life as
a core concern.
With the above objectives in mind the college through its various activities
directly and indirectly has been successful in attaining the institutions mission and
objectives which are spelt out through the following academic activities that have been
conducted successfully in this academic year.
The college has been successful in promotion of effective education by imparting related
knowledge developing skills and creating an awareness and consciousness amongst the
student to develop integrity and excellence.
The college throughout the year has been offering various opportunities to develop
communication skills to those students coming from rural background. The college has
provided remedial courses to achieve a competent standard of communication.
Through seminars and workshops organized by various departments the students were
oriented towards career building and development. The various departments conducted
guest lecturers‟ interactive session by inviting eminent experts and renowned
personalities from, educational institutions, business industries and social field.

A ladies forum „Priyadarshani Yuvati Manch‟ initiated by the college with a view to
empower the women has following objectives.
 To inculcate cultural and social values and talents among girls students.
 To build the confidence among the girl students to face challenges of 21st century.
 To invite dynamic and unique personalities to share their experience to promote
values among girl students.
 To organize seminars and workshops on personality development exclusively for
girl students.

 On 31st July 2010, an eminent oncologist was invited to make aware about the
increasing ratio of breast cancer among women. He gave important precast and tips
to save from breast cancer.
 On 28th Sept.2010, a lecture was arranged on „Career Opportunities and Selection
of Suitable Career‟ by Shri. Avinash Dharmadhikari founder member of Chanakya
Mandal.
 On 22nd Nov.2010, Priyadarshani Yuvati Manch invited Chief Editor of Sakal
Newspaper, Mr. Uttam Kamble for being nominated as a president of Akhil
Bhartiya Marathi Sahitya Samelan for the year 2010-11. He shared his valuable
experiences about his career development with girl students.
 The college deputed some girl students to watch premier show on Marathi Film
„Mani-Mangalsutra‟. A group discussion was arranged to discuss the social values
of movie.
 A cultural programme was organized by the forum. More than 100 girls
participated and had shown outstanding performance in classical and western

 To develop public speaking confidence amongst the students
 To develop speech writing skills by considering five Cs: Conciseness, Correctness,
Completeness, Clarity, and Concreteness.

 To enable students to learn the art of putting forth their objectives logically and in a
convincing manner leading to acceptance of the same.
 To enable the students to update themselves with current affairs, general and
specialize knowledge on important debatable issues to indirectly prepare students to
develop so as to eventually appear for the interviews, group discussion and other
placement opportunities
The activities carried out with reference to above objectives are
 Our college organized the nineteenth inter collegiate state level elocution competition
on the theme „Dowry an Evil System‟ on 18th Dec 2010. More than 23 colleges
participated in this competition.
 The boys and girls of Elocution Association of the college participated and many of
them were successful in Inter-collegiate competition organized by university of Pune
on the theme like „Corruption is way of life‟, „National Policy for Higher Education

 To inculcate values and talents among the students.
 To develop among the students a sense for respecting Indian culture and values.
 To provide a platform for students to work as a team and to enjoy cultural events and

 Our college students at the beginning of academic year has organized talent contest
which provide platforms to display the talents in classical music, folk dances,
mimicry, western fusion orchestra, drama etc.
 Our students participated in various cultural activities organized by other colleges and

 The final year BBA students organized „Wisdom 2010‟ which was management cum
cultural festival. This festival attracted to the participation of more than 25 colleges
in and around Pune city. The fest was organized with such a professionalism and
perfection that it has been applauded by most of the stakeholder of the college.
 ‘PEGASUS’, another intercollegiate cultural event was organized by the students of

quotations. The cover photo, the principal‟s desk and educational is on the theme „In

Innovations in curricular design and transaction
Since the college is affiliated to University of Pune the courses offered at the
college are framed by the University of Pune. The syllabuses of these courses are framed
by the University of Pune. Thus the college naturally has less scope to change the course
contents. However, the following teacher of the college has actively participated in
curriculum design by giving their valuable suggestions. These teachers have also been
instrumental in organizing/restructuring of curriculum of seminar/workshops on

support staff.

All the teachers teaching at F.Y.B.Com/B.B.A/B.C.A/B.Sc (Computer Science) prepare

prepared and set by the exam committee.

The term end examination is conducted in the month of October every year.


Community services
The college fully understands its social responsibilities and stands committed to it.
Extension activities have become an integral part of our college. The NSS unit of our
college is actively involved in social work. The main thrust area of this unit has been
environment awareness, blood donation camps, and also programmes related to drugs
awareness and aids awareness. The adoption of village for rural development is one of
the classic examples of our NSS unit‟s social awareness. Consumer guidance, gender
equality, adult education drive, camps for orphanage and old aged people are part of the
several activities organized by the college.
In association with the “Anti Dowry Movement, Mumbai” the colleges has been
organizing inter-collegiate elocution competition enlightening “Dowry and its Evils” for

the last 20 years. This programme has been so effective that many students have vowed
not to accept dowry.
The college in association with the non-government organizations has been extending
both moral and financial support to the home for the aged, women organizations and
orphanages, like Nivara, Matoshree Ashram, Apla Ghar, Nirdhaar, JeevanDhara, Shree
Vatsa, Mamata Bal Sadan, etc. The college in the last five years has organized special
camps, cultural programs, fruits and eatables distribution,, stationery distribution
programmes in various NGO‟s working for orphanage and home for the aged. Clothes,
sweets, winter garments, footwear etc. are distributed amongst the orphan kids from
Mamta Bal Sadan Saswad Pune. All these activities had a very positive effect on our
students who were exposed to the hard realities of relief work and they performed their
duties towards the society, nation and the humanity at large.
The highlights of community services rendered by the college through its NSS
department were as follows:

The outreach programmes organized by the college are
 Camps for orphan children during diwali vacation.
 Fruits and eatable distribution: The NSS volunteers of the college have been
organizing fruits and eatables distribution programme at Jeevan Dhara the school
for mentally retarded students for last five years and the students with the
support of their Headmistress Mrs. Shinde and her staff members are constantly
interacting with the retarded students, building relationships informally and
personally. Some of the students with proper permission and approval from the
headmistress are even taking them to their homes for giving them the joy of
spending family weekends.
 Distribution of free stationery, Television sets, and other essential products: The
NSS volunteers of the college are also actively involved with the distribution of
stationery and other learning materials to the students at “Shree Vatsa,
Vanasthali and Apla Ghar” home for orphan children at Pune. Vikas, NGO
caring for the children of commercial sex workers. The students contribute on
their own for the social cause. They have also donated Television Sets, taperecorders, and cassettes to the leprosy hospital, Wanori-Pune. Financial

assistance to the “Sakaal Relief Fund” for people affected by flood at Bihar and
Orissa was successfully organized by the college.
 Entertainment, Naturopathy and Yoga camps for old aged: The students of the
college regularly visit the „Home for the Aged‟ like Nivara and Janseva
foundation. These visits of our students bring solace and joy to the old inmates
who enjoy such visits of the students which also creates a family environment.
Our students have been organizing Naturopathy and Yoga camps at Lonikand
taluka haveli district Pune from last three years under the guidance of Yoga –
Charya, Shri. S.M. Acharya and physiotherapist Mr. Diwane. Around five
hundred people have been benefitted by this programme.
 Each One Teach One programme: A group of Twenty five NSS volunteers have
adopted the village Thopatewadi a village situated near Sinhagad Fort, Pune
where the students conduct adult education programme - “Each One Teach One”
for the villagers.
 Tree Plantation:
Our students also organize tree plantation programmes on
special occasions such as the birth anniversary of leaders like Mahatma Gandhi
the Father of the Nation. The Jain and Firodiya hostels have been transformed
with a greener environment due to this programme. The students have been
successful in spreading the message of creating a green beautiful Pune in the
neighborhood of the colleges and the surrounding parts of the city.
 Cleaning of the banks of Mutha River: A very significant achievement this year
was the cleaning of the banks of mutha river, which is in close proximity to the
college. A lot of garbage and other waste were cleanly cleared by our students in
collaboration with the Pune municipal corporation volunteers. The efforts of the
students in this regard were very much appreciated by the media and the citizens
of Pune.
 No Vehicle Day on the campus: the college since the last consecutive seven
years has been organizing a no vehicle day on the campus on a given working
day.

Several programmes organized by Shrusti a voluntary organization

Tilgul distribution Ceremony, Raksha Bandhan, Organization of different
cultural activities and festivals is a regular feature of the college

In collaboration with the Rotary Club and Lions Clubs, programmes like
blood donations, tree plantation, medical check-up, vaccination etc. are
organized by the college

The college
provides free accommodation to financially backward
students.

The college also provides its hall free of cost for marriages of the poor and
also permits social organizations to use its Seminar Hall to conduct
seminars and other activities. In collaboration with „Sath Sath‟ an
organization which prepares youth for marriages, the college conducts
Marriage Preparation courses for bachelors/ spinsters eligible for marriage.
The college provides classroom and other related facilities to conduct
vacation batches for students residing in slums.
 The commemoration of the Death Anniversary of our Founder President and Ex
home Minister of India Hon. Late Shri. Shankaraoji Chavan is observed each year
on February 26th by conducting the following outreach and extension activities:

The feedback mechanism has been developed in various courses such as B.Com,
BBA, BCA, BCS, Communication and Journalism and the teachers are encouraged to

As per University norms the First Year B.Com, BBA, BBM, BCA, B.Sc (comp.

Our college has five equipped computer labs having internet access. All these labs

 An informal interaction with Dr. Shikarpurkar an IT expert was held.

In collaboration of Exam department of University of Pune controller of Exam a one day
workshop was held on „Shikshekatar Sevakanchi Kavyashala‟. The college sponsored
about 350 Non-teaching staff members from various colleges.


Action Taken Report on the AQAR of the previous year
It gives us an immense pleasure to present the report of the activities of the
Internal Quality Assurance Cell of our college. The college being one of the Higher
Educational Institution (HEI) and at the instance of the NAAC as a post accreditation
quality sustenance activity has formerly established Internal Quality Assurance Cell in
the year 2006.

The college has made very sincere and significant efforts in this regard. It has
been able to
 Develop a quality system for conscious, consistent and catalytic program
action to improve the academic and administrative performance of the
college
 Initiating and promoting such academic and administrative measures for
institutional functioning towards quality enhancement through internalization
of a study and steady quality culture so as to enable the college to introduce
best practices in such a way to reflect the mission and objective of our
college through this Internal Quality Assurance Report.
 The college which has been established in the year 1986 has become one of
the leading colleges in Pune city.
 Admitting more than 2100 students from more than 10 countries and almost
all states and union territories in India.
 We at MMCC have developed our own brand image as one of the most

 Immediately the last two academic years the government of Maharashtra,
Minister of Higher and Technical Education has awarded two of our faculty
members with the best State Teacher award in recognition of teacher‟s
scholastic achievements, research output and for the commitment and
dedication of our teachers in the chosen and noble profession of teaching.
 The Internal Quality Assurance Report thus highlights all such achievements
