Au nom du Conseil municipal et à titre de mairesse de
la Ville de Bromont, il me fait plaisir de souhaiter
la bienvenue aux cavaliers et cavalières de l’édition 2013
du Concours Complet CCI 3H VOLVO Bromont qui se déroule
sur le site exceptionnel du Parc équestre olympique de Bromont.
Pendant votre séjour, laissez-vous charmer par tout ce que
vous offre Bromont, régalez-vous dans nos nombreux restaurants,
laissez-vous dorloter dans nos établissements hôteliers et auberges,
évadez-vous dans un de nos spas, laissez-vous gâter dans un de nos gîtes

Le comité organisateur du Concours complet Bromont tient à souhaiter la bienvenue à tous les concurrents,
entraineurs, palefreniers, propriétaires, familles, commanditaires et invités de la 27ième édition du Concours
complet CCI 3H Volvo Bromont. Nous sommes fiers d’accueillir nos cavaliers et cavalières de haut niveau à la
seule compétition en Amérique du Nord qui tient des épreuves CCI 1H, CCI 2H et CCI 3H en même temps.
Pour la deuxième année consécutive présenté par VOLVO, le Parc équestre olympique de Bromont,
site du Concours complet CCI Volvo Bromont, est le seul parc équestre olympique au monde encore utilisé.
Le majestueux parcours de cross-country, les arénas de dressage et de sauts de calibre international assurent
une compétition autant difficile que sécuritaire pour plus d’une centaine d’équipes en place cette fin de semaine.
S’il s’agit de votre première expérience, assurez-vous de visiter le charmant village de Bromont
et ses multiples restaurants, de même que le carrefour champêtre Bromont.

The Bromont Organizing Committee wishes to
welcome all competitors, coaches, grooms, owners,
family members, sponsors and patrons to the
27th edition of the Bromont Three-Day Event.
We are proud to welcome North America’s
best riders to the only event in
North America to host CCI 1H, CCI 2H
and CCI 3H divisions all at the same time.
The Bromont Olympic site, home of the Bromont
CCI, is the only equestrian venue in the world still
in active use. The beautiful cross-country course
and state-of-the-art jumping and dressage arenas
ensure an inviting and challenging test to the
hundreds of teams competing here this week.
If this is your first visit, be sure to take in the
sights and shopping in Bromont, including
the designer outlet mall. Only a few minutes
away, it offers fine and casual dining combined
with Quebec’s famous “Joie de vivre”.

et cavaliers puissent se mesurer sur
un parcours à la fois stimulant et
sécuritaire pour chacun.

de Bromont, du Québec, du Canada,
des États-Unis et de l’étranger
ont donné de leur temps au cours
des années pour assurer le succès
et la pérennité de l’événement.

We all know that an event like Bromont
does not happen without the hard work
and dedication of its volunteers. Every
year, it takes hundreds of people and
thousands of man hours to make sure
horse and rider compete on a course
that is both challenging and safe for all.
Thousands of horse lovers from Bromont,
Québec, Canada, the United States and
abroad have volunteered and shared
their time to support and ensure its
continued success over the years.

In Eventing, the object is to achieve the lowest score
possible, since everything is calculated as “Penalty Points”.
The Dressage Score is calculated as however much “less
than perfect”. There is a formula used to convert the
traditional ­dressage marks, as awarded by the judge,
into this penalty ­version. From Dressage onwards,
the goal is to incur no ­additional penalty points.

The Todd Sandler Perpetual Trophy will be presented to the winner of the CCI 3H division. Place Ribbons will be awarded
to competitors to 10th place. Completion ribbons will be awarded to all competitors completing the division.

CCI 1H DIVISION
The CCI 1H Trophy donated by the Law family will be awarded to the winner of the CCI 1H division. Place Ribbons
will be awarded to competitors to 10th place or as per FEI regulations in the overall division. Completion ribbons
will be awarded to all competitors completing the division. Place Ribbons will be awarded to the top Juniors
and Young Riders to 10th place. The Hamelin Martineau Trophy will be awarded to the top CCI JYH rider.
CIC 3H
Place Ribbons will be awarded to competitors to 10th place, or as per FEI regulations.
Other Prizes and Gifts
Various prizes from sponsors (Ecogold, Hit Air and Sandridge Saddlery) will be given to top three places.
The Bromont Dressage Award will be presented to the horse with the best dressage score.

N’oubliez jamais que les chevaux et les cavaliers ont le
droit de passage. Respectez les aires réservées aux chevaux,
soyez alertes et prudents.
Remember that horses have the right of way!
Look both ways before crossing the course.
Ne laissez pas de jeunes enfants sans surveillance. La curiosité
peut parfois les mener dans les endroits où ces derniers ne
devraient pas se trouver.
Les chiens doivent être tenus en laisse en tout temps.
Ne vous approchez pas à moins de dix mètres des sauts
de cross-country. Si un cheval est en piste lorsque vous
marchez sur le parcours, arrêtez-vous sur le côté de la
piste pour le laisser passer.
Sachez qu’en encourageant un compétiteur à l’approche
d’un saut ou en lui indiquant le chemin à emprunter vous
pouvez entraîner son élimination. Tout encouragement est
bienvenu une fois que le cavalier a franchi l’obstacle.
Respectez l’environnement et jetez les déchets dans
les contenants prévus à cet effet.
Si vous voulez plus d’informations, demandez à un officiel,
un autre spectateur ou un cavalier à pied.
Keep a close eye on children – they can easily wander
into trouble.
Dogs must be on leash at all times.
Stay at least 10 meters away from cross-country fences.
If you are walking as a horse approaches, stand to the
side of the path.
Be advised that a rider can be eliminated if you offer outside
assistance. These include but are not limited to–giving
directions or encouraging the horse approaching a jump.
Once horse and rider are over a jump, applause is
most welcomed.
Please respect the environment, do not litter.
If you wish to have more information on the event,
please ask someone such as an official, another spectator
or a dismounted rider.

L’organisation du Concours Complet CCI 3H Bromont
- événement de 3 jours - est fière de p
­ résenter le
Challenge Todd Sandler en mémoire d’un jeune
cavalier originaire de Dollard-des-Ormeaux.
Todd Sandler est décédé à l’âge de 18 ans dans
un accident automobile le 26 avril 1999 alors qu’il
revenait de la compétition de Rolex (un concours
complet de 3 jours) au Kentucky. Il venait d’assister
à cette importante compétition et avait donné un
coup de main à nos compétiteurs du Canada.
The Bromont CCI 3H Three Day Event is proud to
host The Todd Sandler Challenge in memory of an
aspiring young event rider, Todd Sandler, 18, of
Dollard des Ormeaux, Québec who died tragically
in a car accident on April 26, 1999 while returning
home from the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event.
There he had been doing what he loved bestgrooming and lending a hand to his fellow Canadians
and, of course surrounding himself with horses.
Les talents et l’athlétisme de ce jeune cavalier
en faisaient une figure importante dans le
milieu du concours complet. En 1997, il devenait
le champion du Québec au niveau préliminaire
dans la division 1 étoile au Championnat
Nord-Américain pour Jeunes Cavaliers.
Todd et son cheval Dudley Do Right ont participé
à l’événement de 3 jours des Jeunes Cavaliers à
Winnipeg en 1998. Ils ont également représenté le
Canada à la compétition d’équipe à
Lexington au Kentucky à l’automne 1998.
Tous ces accomplissements ont contribué au
succès de Todd qui fut nommé sur la liste d’élite
«talent squad» du concours complet du Canada
en 1999. Cette étape l’aurait amené à être
nommé sur l’équipe nationale canadienne.
Todd était le prospect le plus prometteur au Canada
lors de son accident. La communauté équestre
le manque ainsi que ses amis de Bromont.
Todd’s riding and athletic abilities made him a
force to be reckoned with in competitive circles.
He competed in the one star division of the 1997
North American Young Riders Championships
with his horse Dudley Do Right, and the pair were
named the 1997 Quebec Preliminary Champions.
Todd and Dudley Do Right competed in the Canadian
Young Rider Three Day event Championships in
Winnipeg in 1998. That fall they represented Canada
at the 1998 Team Challenge Horse Trials in
Lexington Kentucky.

All of these accomplishments led to Todd being
named to the 1999 Canadian Eventing Team
Talent Squad, an important stepping-stone in
his quest to be named to the Team itself.
Todd was one of Canada’s best eventing prospects
for the future. The entire equestrian community
and his friends at Bromont sadly miss him.
