This Saturday the Butler Junior High Wrestling team claimed a 2nd

This Saturday the Butler Junior High Wrestling team claimed a 2nd place finish at the prestigious Greater
Latrobe (GLOW) Tournament. The 17 team field included many of western pa’s best teams. The top 5
teams were Franklin Regional, Butler, Greensburg Salem, Latrobe, and Norwin.
Coming home as tournament champions for the “GT” were Will Bortmas and Austin George.
Bortmas used a great performance in the finals to edge a North Allegheny wrestler who had majored
decisionsed Will 2 weeks earlier.
George has been on a tear as of late winning his last 16 matches.
Bring home 2nd place for the Tornado were Hugh O’Neil, Connor Foust, and Ryan Hannon.
Jeremiah Bortmas claimed 3rd place. Coming home with 4th place were Mason Kauffman and David
Slomers. Alex White placed 5th with Kirk Gibson placing 6th.
The Junior High “GT” will be back in action next weekend at the annual North Allegheny Tournament.
This is basically the section 3 tournament with a few added teams. Butler looks to repeat last years
performance when they won the NA tournament. Overall the “GT” have won the NA tournament 3 of the
past 4 years.
