I. PIM: Product Information Manager – Introduction
The PIM is a complex database that hosts thousands of products under various
categories: digital cameras, digital camcorders, lenses, classes, binoculars, paper,
miscellaneous camera accessories and many others;
www.mydakis.com contains four main sub-systems:
PORTAL
INVENTORY
WEBPIM (PIM)
PHOTO FACTORY
In order to have access to these four sub-systems, you must log in, having a user
name and a strong password. Within this manual we well use "horacetest" as the user
name.
Now see the steps to follow to enter the program:
STEP 1: Enter website address in the address bar:

Once you have opened this page you will see the four sub-systems of "mydakis":
1. PORTAL is the sub-page where the account information is managed for all the
users;
2. Prices and product information are set under INVENTORY;
3. WEBPIM (PIM) is the 3rd sub-system, where all the information about the products
can be found and which this manual will focus upon;
4. Online Photo Products will help you sell throughout the year! If you can imagine a
photo on a product, you can offer it through the PHOTO FACTORY.

II. How to create a new products category
STEP 1: Create a new products category: Click on "New Products
Category";

In order to create a new products category, it is recommended to have all the specs
written on a sheet of paper prior to organize them in the PIM;
The new category we will create now is called "Washers and Dryers" and will contain
the following folders and specs:
General
Brand;
Description;
Washer
Capacity;
Loading;
Power Source;
Number of wash programs;
Temperature settings;
Display;
Dimensions;
Color;
Warranty;
Dryer
Capacity;
Loading;
Power Source;
Number of dry programs;
Temperature settings;
Display;
Dimensions;
Color;
Warranty;

STEP 2: Type the name of the category in English, then in French (if you
need it), add a representative image (Choose File) and hit save;
Note that if you type the name of the new category in one language it will
automatically be saved with the same name in the other language;

STEP 3: The new products category has just been created:
STEP 4: Go to the "Specifications sheet" and enter the description and
the different folders and specs for the new category created;

STEP 5: Click on "NEW FOLDER" and add the other two new folders:
* Washer
* Dryer

STEP 6: Make sure that "Published" is selected, and then click "SAVE"; then
click again on "New Folder" and add the last folder called "Dryer";

STEP 7: The three main folders are now created:
STEP 8: Click on "ADD SPECIFICATION" and create the
name of the specs;

STEP 9: Select one of the three types of specifications:
* TextSpec (you can add any type of text)
* BooleanSpec (boolean values)
* NumericSpec (numbers)

STEP 10: Complete all the other items with the details requested by the
program, and then do the same thing for all the folders and specifications
you want to add;

The first folder we will add is called Washer and it will contain 9 specifications; we
will do the same thing for Dryers and we will also complete the specs for "General":
Brand and Description;

STEP 11: The new category with all the sub-folders and specs is
now completed:

III. How to create / add a new product
Once you have entered the new category, in order to add/create new products for
the WebStore you need to follow some important steps:
STEP 1: Click on "Products list“;

STEP 2: Click on "NEW PRODUCT“;
Before adding/creating a new product, make sure you have at hand all the specs and
one or more images for the product you are about to add;

STEP 3: Choosing a brand: delete "unknown" and start entering the name
of the brand; if the brand has already been created it will automatically
appear and all you have to do is to click on it; you can also search for the
brand in the drop down list; if the brand has not been created see STEP 4;

STEP 4: Creating a brand: go to "Home", click on "Brands" and then click
on "NEW BRAND“;
Enter the name of the Brand
Add the Brand’s Logo
!!! Note that all the images used in the PIM
need to be JPEG files.
This is the only extension supported
by the program.

STEP 5: The new brand (Samsung) was created;
Whenever you want to modify the name of
the Brand or you want to change the image /
logo, go to "EDIT" and do the changes you
want;

STEP 6: Now go back to "Product Categories", select "Washers and Dryers",
"NEW PRODUCT", type the name of the product you want to add and also
add the image for that product;

STEP 7: Click on "SAVE AND ASSIGN VALUES"; this way
you will be directed to the spec. sheet for the new added
product

STEP 8: The new product has just been created;
STEP 9: Add the main specs and files of the product:
description and media files (PDF, Flash, Video, Image);

STEP 10: In order to add the regular specs go to
“Specification values“;

STEP 11: Click on "EDIT" and add the specs step-by-step;

STEP 12: If the value you are looking for is already in the system,
select it to activate it as a correspondent value for the product you are
adding;
STEP 13: In order to add a new value, go to "NEW VALUE" and type
the text you want; if you want to paste a copied text it’s
recommended to use "paste as plain text" and then hit "SAVE";

IV. How to create a multi-colored product
one of the new opportunities offered by PIM is creating multiple-colored products; a
product available in two or more colors, does not need to be duplicated anymore;
it's enough to create it once and then, with "multiple colors" option, attach all the
available colors of the product;
in order to activate this options, you need to follow these steps:
STEP 1: Go to the category you want and click on "Variations specifications“;

STEP 2: Click on "New product variations“;
STEP 3: Select the product variations and hit "SAVE";

If you want to add a product that you have in various/multiple colors follow the next
steps:
STEP 4: Add the product with the simple name, without specifying the color;
STEP 5: Go to "colors" and select all the color you need;
STEP 6: Make sure that in "Media Files" you have entered all the
images for all the colors;

STEP 7: Go to "Product variations values" and hit "SHOW“;
STEP 8: Hit "EDIT“;

STEP 9: Click "NEW" and start adding the correspondent image(s)
for each color;

STEP 10: Click on "New Image", then add the image you want, by
completing the values required; then click on "SAVE" and select
"Primary Media" to attach the image to the product;
STEP 11: If you have additional images for each color, just click
once on each image you want to attach to the color;

V. Presentation
The first impression a customer has upon your product depends on how it shows on
your site and also upon the way you set the parametric search to make it easier to
find;
To set these features you need to well organize the "Presentation":
STEP 1: Go to the "Product categories", select the category you want and
click on "Presentations";

STEP 2: Go to the "Catalog" (click on "EDIT") and select the items you want
to make available for the parametric search*;
!!! Note:
- all the items you select for the parametric search must be short: brand, capacity, color, etc.
- adding a description or a long text specification to parametric search may affect the structure and
the good aspect of the page
*parametric search = a simple and fast method of searching / identification of products
from a system organized by categories, using representative parameters for products.

STEP 3: To select the Brand in presentation click on "ADD“;
STEP 4: Type the specification you want in the catalog and then hit "SAVE“;

STEP 5: The new item was added to "Presentation"; you can add as many
specs you want to the catalog;
