Keep Your Lamps!
The general layout will be as follows:
FRONT ROW: Treble choristers.
SECOND ROW: Sopranos.
THIRD ROW: Three Altos to right; Tenors in middle;
one or two First Basses to the left
(if necessary).
BACK ROW:
Three Altos to right; Second Basses
In middle; First Basses to the left.
Spirit Ringers: We’ll make some adjustments to
keep sight lines as best we can.
Lastly, rumor has it that the rest of the loft will come
together soon. Nonetheless, it will be exciting to experience our “new sound” when we can actually hear each
other!
Beautiful Music!
GRATEFUL THANKS to our Spirit Singers and
Treble Choristers for Sunday’s absolutely lovely music. Stanford’s Beati Quorum Via was sung so beautifully! Many compliments have been received on
this and all of Sunday’s music.
We were happy to be joined by Louis and
Miriam Pittenger for the day.
We were also joined by bass Joe Scheirich—a
long-time choir member at St. Martin’s. We are
J. Biery
thrilled to report that Joe has decided to join the
Spirit Singers! If the Scheirich name sounds familiar
A. Thomas
to native Louisvillians, you may remember the H.J.
Scheirich cabinet company, begun by Joe’s father.
Many a new or remodeled kitchen in the mid-to-late
20th century featured Scheirich cabinets.
12/13—ADVENT III
Evensong (Ringers, Prelude)
Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus D. Gawthrop
12/20—ADVENT IV
Magnificat
In addition to the new Mass setting and new worship leaflets, there is a big change to see in the loft:
Spirit Singers, your chairs are now on FOUR rows, centered between the columns. This very cozy arrangement will allow us to hear each other as never before,
thus creating a sense of blend in the choir loft.

Helpful YouTube Video for Russian Pronunciation!
Many thanks to soprano section leader Sarah Cleary for sending the following link. It is VERY
helpful in the pronunciation of the Russian text of Bogoroditse Devo. Do give it a listen...or
two...or three…
