GENERATIONS OF FAITH CAMPAIGN
We thank those who generously contributed to the 5 year
campaign to renovate the church roof and air condition the
church. Some instructions for those who made a pledge:
Please wait until you receive your payment reminder in the
mail. When you receive it—use the card enclosed to make
your payment. Place your payment and reminder card in
the envelope that is provided. DO NOT SEND CASH. And
please do not place it in the collection or send it to the
parish. These pledges need to be sent to the diocese. They
are handling the pledge money as it comes in. All those
who pledged should be receiving a thank you note and a
payment reminder in the mail by December. Please be
patient. If you have any questions, please contact Raul in

Dear Friends,
Thanksgiving Day 2015….we have lots to be thankful for! Please make the effort to come to mass this
Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the main church. The mass will be in English and Spanish. With all that’s going on in
the world this is the perfect opportunity to count all our blessings and thank God for them. I am looking
forward to greet all of you. Following the mass we will continue our tradition to distribute loaves of bread
for your thanksgiving table as well as a prayer of grace and thanksgiving to be recited with your family.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
The recent terror attack in Paris is another reminder that what happened THERE can easily happen HERE in New York
City – at any time. Does your family have an emergency plan? What if – God forbid- the trains or busses weren’t
running and you couldn’t make it home in time for the children? Or if the lights went out? Or you are alone at home
during an attack and feel alone and afraid? Or the phones aren’t working and you cant communicate with a loved
one? Your family should sit down this week and develop an emergency plan of what you would do. In the event of a
city emergency the chapel and Heafey Hall would be open for shelter and prayer. It’s a great idea to let your
children know that if you (their parent/guardian) couldn’t make it home or cannot communicate with them they
should come to the chapel church on Ithaca Street and wait for you to arrive. Priests, Sisters and volunteers would
be present for all who enter. Adequate food and drink would also be provided. I know that this is an uncomfortable
subject. And I hope and pray that we never have to do this. But….we should be prepared. Have a plan and talk
about it this week with your family. The 680 children in our Faith Formation program recently brought home a letter
from me outlining the same ideas to their parents. Thank you for your kind attention to this important matter.

Día de Acción de Gracias 2015 ... .tenemos mucho que agradecer! Por favor, haga el esfuerzo de venir a misa
este jueves a las 9:30 am en la iglesia principal. La misa será en inglés y español. Con todo lo que está
pasando en el mundo esta es la oportunidad perfecta para contar todas nuestras bendiciones y agradecer a
Dios por ellas. Tengo muchas ganas de saludar a todos ustedes. Después de la misa vamos a continuar nuestra
tradición de distribuir panes para su mesa y una oración en acción de gracias a ser recitado con su familia.
ANUNCIO IMPORTANTE
El reciente ataque terrorista en París es otro recordatorio de que lo que sucedió ALLI nos puede suceder fácilmente
AQUI en la ciudad de Nueva York - en cualquier momento. ¿Su familia tiene un plan de emergencia? ¿Qué pasa si –
que Dios no lo permita- los trenes o autobuses dejan de funcionar y no se puede llegar a casa a tiempo para estar
con los niños? ¿O si las luces se apagan? ¿O si usted está solo en casa durante un ataque y se siente solo y asustado?
¿O los teléfonos no funcionan y no puede comunicarse con un ser querido? Su familia debe sentarse esta semana y
desarrollar un plan de emergencia de lo que harías. En caso de una emergencia en nuestra ciudad, la capilla y el
salón de Heafey estarían abiertos como lugares de refugio y oración. Sería una buena idea que sus hijos sepan que si
usted (su padre / tutor) no puede llegar a casa o no puede comunicarse con ellos, deben venir a la capilla de la
Iglesia en Ithaca Street y esperar a que llegue usted por ellos. Los sacerdotes, religiosas y voluntarios estarán
presentes para todos los que entran. Comida y bebida adecuada también se proveerá. Sé que este es un tema
delicado. Y espero y ruego que nunca tendremos que hacer esto. Sin embargo … debemos de estar preparados.

NEW CHURCH CONFESSIONALS:
We have contracted with
Renovata Liturgical Studios to
create a new confessional room
in the church as well as restore
the one we already have. The
new confessional will be in the
old baptistery at the rear of the
church. It will be handicapped
accessible and offer the opportunity
for face to face confession as
well as behind the confessional
screen. The current confessional
will be repainted and carpeted as
well as having additional lighting.
The new confessional will be
blessed on December 8th – the
opening of the Year of Mercy.

NUEVOS CONFESIONARIOS DE LA IGLESIA: Hemos contratado a
Renovata Litúrgicas Studios para crear una nueva sala de confesión en la
iglesia, así como restaurar la que ya tenemos. El nuevo confesionario
estará en el antiguo baptisterio en la parte trasera de la iglesia. Será
accesible para minusválidos y ofrecerá la oportunidad de tener una
confesión cara a cara, así como también detrás de la pantalla del
confesionario. El confesionario actual se pintó y está alfombrado, y
tiene iluminación adicional. El nuevo confesionario será bendecido el
8 de diciembre –en la apertura del Año de la Misericordia.
IMMACULATE CONCEPTION FEAST DAY: The feast day of the Immaculate
Conception (Patroness of the United States of America) is Tuesday,
December 8th. It’s an especially important day because Pope Francis
has asked that the Jubilee Year of Mercy begin on this day. The Year of
Mercy will end in November 2016 on Christ the King Sunday. We will be
focusing on this year with lots of catechesis and spiritual formation.

El día de la fiesta de la Inmaculada Concepción
(Patrona de los Estados Unidos de América) es el
martes, 8 de diciembre. Es un día muy
importante porque Francisco ha pedido que el
Año Jubilar de la Misericordia empiece en este
día. El Año de la Misericordia terminará en
noviembre de 2016, el domingo de Cristo Rey.
Nos vamos a centrar en este año con un montón
de catequesis y formación espiritual.

MASS BOOK 2016: The mass book for 2016 is now open
for intentions. Masses are offered for those living or
deceased. The offering for each mass is $15. On
Saturday at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. we offer collective
intentions – which means we are able to take more than
one intention for the mass. If you have any questions,
please speak to one of the priests.

NEW ENGLISH HYMNALS
We have purchased about 600 new
hardcover hymnals in English for the church
and chapel. The name of the new hymnal is:
Worship 3. We will begin using them on the
First Sunday of Advent. In order to assist
with the cost of these new hymnals we are
requesting a $20 donation. You will have
the opportunity to donate a hymnal and we
will place a sticker of the inside cover. You
can donate more than one hymnal. Please
choose one of the samples below and return
in the Sunday collection with $20.
