Finally, here is the first Budstikka for 2012.
We apologise for the delay, which is mainly
due to the fact that Eastern Bulk Carriers and
the Norwegian Consulate have undergone a
restructure, so unfortunately the lovely ladies
there are not able to print and distribute the
newsletter for us anymore.

We have therefore taken a bit of time to
consider our options, and have discovered
how incredibly expensive it is to print colour
copies, and how lucky we have been to have
had the help from the aforementioned ladies!
We are still working on the best and most cost-effective solution for the club; one that
ensures a “quality product” for our members, without blowing our budget. Whether we buy
a printer, or find a sponsor who can print for us 3-4 times a year (do you know of anyone?)
is something we will have to sort out in the next few weeks.
This issue of Budstikka might therefore be somewhat “amputated”, but we hope to come
back stronger next time.
Remember, we are very open to contributing material, photos, stories, anything you think
might be of interest to our readers. For example, did anyone make Unni‟s gingerbread
house for Christmas and have photos? Or the burnt almonds?
In this issue, we announce plans for another Easter Workshop for Children, and some other
tidbits.
We can also announce that we have secured Sunday 13 May for our annual 17.mai
celebrations at Toorak House, and will bring more details thereof in the next edition
(although I expect it will be “same procedure as every year”.
In the next edition I will also tell you about my meeting with Jo Nesbø (well, OK, at least I
got his autograph in my “Panserhjerte” book…..
We hope you all had a great summer, which is now “på hell”, and that we will see you soon.

Meet and greet with the Queen!
Peter and Sissel Clunas went to town in October last year to see the Queen, and
guess who they met!!?
“We met Barbara Brown and Dorothy Wood! They were all dressed up for the
occasion. Perhaps we attracted more attention than the Queen when the young
Germans got interested in joining in our photo session! Anyway we had a nice day
and enjoyed the sunshine in town.”

Learn Norwegian with iTunes Apps!

I (the editor) went into iTunes (being a massive fan of anything with an “I” in front of it…)
and found that there are a number of Apps for iPhone and iPad for people who want to
learn Norwegian! Just type “Learn Norwegian” in the search field…I am going to type “Learn
Spanish”!

EASTER WORKSHOP FOR
CHILDREN
Last year‟s inaugural event was such a success,
so we are doing it again!
We invite you to come along and be creative
with us.
It is open to children of all ages, Norwegian or
not, and of course parents, grandparents,
uncles, aunts…
We will be arranging another Easter egg hunt in
the gardens of Toorak House.

In Memoriam
John Edward Christiansen passed away on 26 November, 2011. He was a longstanding member of FON, and contributed numerous items for our raffles
through the years.
In Loving Memory
Anthony (Tony) Nicholson Guilford passed away on 05 February 2012. He
reached the grand old age of 88.

Held at Toorak House/the Swedish Church Library on Thursday evenings.
Beginners, „Level 2‟ from 6:00pm. to 7:30pm. Advanced, „Level 1‟ from 7:30 p.m.
